Classmates 2 (Doukyusei 2)

Classmates 2 is an adult orientated SLG (Simulator Game) where you explore a city (your home town) and find yourself in different situations with all sorts of characters.

First let me say that if you don’t read Japanese, you might not like this game. There is a TON of Japanese text found in Classmates 2, in fact, you basically move around from situation to situation by text. The game gives you visual scenes to show you where you are, and characters will pop up here and there to talk to you (some characters you don’t want to talk to!).  If you are not talking to someone, then you can navigate though the city by just moving your character with the D-Pad. There are many houses around the city that you can knock on to see if anyone is home, and there is this one old man that if you choose correctly, he can make a whole day go by in a second (but I think you need to pay him first!)

The music is your standard fare of game tunes, nothing really catchy, but good overall. Most encounters with characters include speech (if it is important), but most of the time, you will just go though tons of Japanese text.

The Japanese Anime is very well done, with very detailed looking characters and areas. Elf has some very talented artistes (take a look at the Elf web page!)

I would recommend this game to anyone who can read Japanese, or who likes the challenge of figuring out what to do.  If you don’t like tons of Japanese text, I would stay away from this one. - Aaron Nanto
