12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Picked up a copy of Final Fight CD and a Mark III to SMS cart converter, from a local guy.

That's a cutie pie right there.  :D

Not much of a purchase, just a DB9 to PSX controller adapter. Mainly got it for my Amiga CD32, and Commodore  64.

I tried it as well on a Master System. I tested it with a wireless PS2 controller and receiver. No issues with button mapping. It works fine. You can use the analog sticks as well.
Only thing was the DB9 end of the adapter wouldn't fit flush in the SMS controller port. So I had to use a controller extension cable as a workaround.

The best way to play FDS.
If you are on a CRT, get yourself the 3D System, boot up Falsion, and be amazed!
Never knew this existed, I just play the actual disks and eagerly await for them all to break.  It's a shame that it looks like when using a Twin you need to be the world's greatest engineer to hook it up.
Did you know you can play Fami Disk games via a SNES?  :P

Quote from: guest on 12/05/2017, 03:09 PMBloufo, have you tried the trans color and Pikachu N64 consoles yet? AFAIK these at least lack S-Video lines on the Multi AV out, maybe even the graphics chip or video encoder is lacking these? Please let me know if I'm wrong about that.
I have one of those Pikachu N64 systems. The blue and yellow edition.
S-Video works fine on it. No issues at all.

QuoteRegarding using S-Video cables built for NTSC N64 consoles on a PAL console, what you describe is what I experienced with a cable that I bought years ago. That's what I was talking about in my previous post.
From my own stuff I have a PAL Green N64. S-Video works fine on it if you use the cables that are correctly wired for PAL N64 consoles.

A couple pics of a few years ago from an LCD TV when using that console.

Top is that saturated image when trying to use standard N64 s-video cables.
Bottom pic is when using the correctly wired cables.

Ignore the stretched image. I obviously had forgotten to set it to 4:3

Clone 2600 for $5 from a thrift store,

IMG

IMG

Also picked up a mini SNES, and one of those Retro Gen adapters,

IMG

A bit of trivia,

As I found out, SMS/Mark III games can work on a SNES. lol

IMG

Found a cheapie third party Wii U GC controller adapter,

IMG

Nice step-down voltage converter for hooking up some of my older US/JP consoles. In this neck of the woods we operate on 220/230 volts.

IMG

Got one of these Magic-NS controller adapters,

IMG

If you're going to use a compatible controller with it on a Nintendo Switch, with the Switch being out of its dock, you need that adaptor cable (as below),

IMG

Also picked up one of these SNES to NES/SNES Classic controller adapters,

IMG

With this adapter, if you wanted to you can now also use your old wired SNES sticks in a 'wireless' fashion (albeit tethered to a Wiimote) on the SNES Classic by syncing to an 8bitdo classic wireless receiver.

Quote from: esteban on 10/12/2017, 03:35 PMI am trying to find a generic cable because I lost/misplaced mine years ago.

Thank you in advance.

*3.5mm (I forget that most of the world laughs at our weights and measurements)
This is what I used,

I only had the 3.5mm to female AV. But that works fine too. Just connect the ends with your regular AV cables.

IMG

To get it all working I had to get the SNES mini's HDMI signal downscaled. So I used one of those cheap chinese HDMI to AV converters.

and an Xbox One S

IMG

Actually, no.  :P
It's just a cheapie Chinese type knock-off system filled with a few emulators and games, incl CPS1/CPS2/Neo

The emulation quality is all over the place. Some games play decently, others are tolerable and there are others where the playability is fooked.

The system case is pretty nice, though. It would be ideal to stick a Raspberry Pi in there. Which I reckon is what I'm going to end up doing with this.

That looks like the RGB version - there is a component version as well - which I have just ordered to try out...
The HD Retrovision folks were saying that this is "a poorly designed ripoff" of the product offered by db-electronics. And that this has the capacitors on backwards. "Video signal quality would be compromised and eventually those capacitors will fail."

I believe the seller of these is also a member here. I wonder what he has to say about this?

Anyhoo,

My latest pickup was one of those Atari XEGS systems.

Got it relatively cheaply. Quite discolored but it works fine.

Just an MGS Bleemcast disc.

I never fail to get a kick out of the MGS opening tune coming out of the Dreamcast. lol

I'd take if I got paid.
lol

Nah, it's ok for what it is. I've enjoyed it a bit thus far.

If I do come across another Tectoy system, I'd pick it up if it were one of these:

IMG

I picked up a Saturn 3D controller. This was actually a freebie. The seller couldn't find the detachable cord for it, so he just threw the controller in with some other stuff I had bought from him.

IMG

IMG

Just a poster and some strategy guides,

IMG

IMG

This was a trade for some oXbox games I had gotten a couple weeks ago.

The guy even included the receipt for when he had bought the system from Brazil, back in '08.

IMG

IMG

IMG

This thing operates on the PAL-M analog TV system. No cart slot. 130 built-in games.

It works fine but I couldn't get any of my TV's to show it in color. The visuals were all in Black & White.

So I thought to try hooking it up to an old PC CRT VGA Monitor, using a composite to VGA connection.

We now have color. Thumbs up.

IMG

BTW, The Cyber Shinobi is an awful game.

If anyone was wondering as to the systems internal components,

Not much there. The pic below is not mine but it's the exact same system.

IMG

And, scored a mint in box PSOne LCD Combo. This was from an estate sale.

Price tag for it was R800 ZAR. That works out to a little under $60.

IMG
#34
As others have done, I'm going to fit a Pi into the little guy on the right.

IMG
#35
Just a loose disc and a cart,

IMG

The seller wouldn't sell one or the other separately, so I picked up both PBC's.

IMG

A few Wii U games,

IMG

And a CD32.

IMG

Advertised as having "issues reading certain discs". Tested it with a few games as well as with some unofficial CD32 ports. It plays everything fine.

What I did find on occasion though was that sometimes it would give me a kind of error message like "cannot execute file, not enough memory". Pressing the reset button though seemed to do the trick, and the game would load and play fine afterwards.

I'm not sure how uncommon the European version is, but Outlook Coast to Coast is one of the most sought after US OG Xbox games.
He got the NTSC version
That's right.

Also got this with a bunch of other cables and power adapters,

Listed as "non-functional",

IMG

IMG

I opened it up, tested the fuse for continuity. Nada, squat.
(This particular fuse is 125V 5A, fast blow fuse)

So I desoldered it and replaced it with a new one. Fortunately, that's all it appears to have been.
My Duo has been powered by it for a few hours now. No issues as far as I can see.

A few things,

Nice carry case for the NES Classic,

IMG

IMG

Neo X stick.

"Why?", I hear you say. :p
I can always use it on the PS3.

$10, from a local guy.

IMG

oXbox lot for $30,

IMG

I'm going to offload all of those, except for this guy,

IMG

"Just an NES?", you might say.

IMG

Well, yeah, but we don't often run into this variant over in this neck of the woods,

IMG

IMG

That's not true RGB, by the way.  :P
Composite-like visuals. But that's ok. The system will still get its fair share of use.

The box is beat up, but the console itself is in good shape.

IMG

Asian PAL 32X.

That reminds me, I never did finish that game. :P lol

Quote from: NightWolve on 01/21/2017, 04:53 AMAh, you got the classic, I bought their SNES pad a while ago.

Yeah, great stuff and if you can boot it to keyboard mode, it'll work with most PC games (if keyboard keys can be configured) as opposed to being booted to USB joystick mode which is the default.

Cons: The battery is cheap, last 24 hours. However, there's plenty of room to buy a better quality, higher milliamp 5V to have it last much longer. Sucks they cheaped out in that area. I can only speak for the SNES version of course, but yeah...
I've tried a few other wireless pads with that receiver. They work. So that's nice.

As well, I had an idea (just the other day I picked up one of those SNES Classic controllers. It's still in its wrapping) that I may be able to use that SNES Classic pad wirelessly via that receiver, syncing via a Wiimote. That works as well.

IMG

Put a whole bunch of extra games with that hack on the NES Classic.
So since I was spending quite some time playing those, I figured I may as well get me one of these.

Feels good in the hands. No noticeable lag.

IMG
#41
Not to hijack your thread, but it didn't seem that important to start a new one over this. And it is kinda related.

So, I have an RGB modded Super CD-ROM² unit, and just out of curiosity I tried those Genesis HD Retrovision Component cables on it.

IMG

Not that I'd want to, but for arguments sake if I wanted to get the colors right, would this just be a case of changing the wiring on the AV port?
#42
Not much in the way of pick ups, just a really old PC CRT Monitor.

I'm like one of those people that sees a stray animal on the street and wants to give it a home.  :P

If I see one of these old monitors just get thrown away, I can't help but take a closer look.

So this old CRT only accepts VGA. I had to make a plan to hook up an old console system to it.
I went the S-Video to VGA route for the visuals, and a bit of a convoluted way to get the audio out of a pair of old Fujitsu Siemens speakers.

IMG

IMG
#43
Just some stuff for the DC.

IMG

That VGA to HDMI converter/upscaler is a decent "budget" device.
It has two options, that of 720p and 1080p. I set it to the former. No noticeable lag.

IMG

Found a nice AV Famicom. In very good shape.

The nice surprise was that I was able to connect this EMiO stick of mine to a Wiimote and get it to work wirelessly with the AV Fami via one of those 8Bitdo NES receivers.

Anyone else here try to get extra games on this thing?

I followed the guide that's out there, and to start off with I tested it with one NES rom file -Castlevania III, just to see if this hack works as advertised. It does. No problems. Cover art and all.

IMG

When I get a chance I'll see which of the original 30 to remove and which others to add. No point in keeping games on there I know I'm not going to play, especially seeing as currently (this may change soon, though) there's a limit on there as to how many can be added.

My bag looks orangy. Definitely not "garish pink".  :P

Serves me well. Has ample space as well for loose Hueys. I even have a TurboVision that fits nicely in there.

Local flea market again.  The guy is trying to clear out crap that has been sitting.
Paid $30 total for all of this.  X-Men doesn't have the manual, but cart looks like it was never used.
Haven't tried the DS stand yet, but he said it didn't light up.  Hope to find time later to mess around with it.
That stand looks a neat find. IMG

BTW, I recognized that first oXbox game right away. It's on a "2 in 1" bootleg disc of mine. lol

IMG

Bought an "untested" Model 2 CD unit relatively cheaply a few months ago. It had the base extender piece as well. It wasn't advertised with that. So that was a nice little bonus.

Things came up and I kind of left it be for a bit. Recently though I found a bit of time, and saw that the issue was the common problem with these Model 2's- the fuse. So the unit is back to life now.

Also managed to pick up a 'Megacart', for region swapping.

From AliExpress. Ordered back in early October. Only received it now.

I had to trim the edges of the PCB's for it to fit in my boot MV-1C board. It works fine now, though.
