Today this very curious item got delivered that I won on Yahoo Auctions last month.
It is what appears to be an officially made PC Engine Arcade Board... as you can see from the pictures, it has Hudson chips (Hu6260, Hu6270 and Hu6280) along with some screen printed writing... NEC PWD-678 72406781.
At the front there is the HuCard slot and a slide power button, which makes me think this was maybe mounted in something... there is also an on-board controller port.
Then at the back the board has two connectors, one for Audio/Video and the other for power... there is also 3 adjustment pots in the middle of the board which maybe is for audio volume... I am not sure yet.
Now the writing on the board got me thinking as they looked familiar, so I looked at the other console main boards to compare...
White - PWD-623A 72406235
Core - PWD-814A 72408141
Core 2 - Same as above
Shuttle - TBC
Super - PWD-820A 72408201
Duo - PWA-3285-A 72932851/5
Duo-R - PWA-3339-A 7233392
Duo-RX - PWA-3365-A 72933652
TG16 - PWD-782A 72407822
TG-PAL - PWD-913A 72409131
T.Duo - PWA-3321-A 72933211
So looking again at what is on this board (PWD-678 72406781) it places its production between the original White and Core Grafx units.
Next job is to wire up a new connector and install in a cab and see what happens... I will keep you posted.
Has anybody ever seen a board like this before... let me know what you think.
