I didn't realize there was a gaming logo on the rear of these mugs.  Mine is there... It's just a little worse for wear.

All this CGI talk got me thinking about The LEGO Movie.  I have to say there were moments in that movie where I thought to myself "Man, this looks like stop animation." which is awesome!  I haven't done any research on weather they used solely CGI, but if they did it came out awesome.  CGI is cartoony like you guys have said, but for The LEGO Movie there were times were I couldn't tell if it was computer graphics or the real thing.  They did an awesome job!  If I had seen that movie back in the 80's I would have flipped out.  I was (and still am) a LEGO nut.  Thank God I had a son so I can buy him LEGO.  Heck, LEGO even has a girly line now that is pretty awesome.  Have you seen this thing;

IMG

It's not as cool and sophisticated as some of the other sets out there, but anything that drives up interest for girls and LEGO is okay in my books.

Off-Topic / WTB: Tente Toys
06/01/2014, 11:58 PM
Hi everyone, a while back I made a post asking for help with some 'lego-like' building sets and I didn't receive any replies.  Well I did some more digging and finally found out who made them.  Tente.

So I'm looking to buy old (complete) Tente building sets.  These were similar to LEGO, but not LEGO.  It took me a while to figure out who made them, but now my search is in full swing.

I am looking for naval sets only.  Please contact me if you have anything.  Some examples of what I'm looking for;

The Genesis games were a gift from my aunt, who found them at a yard sale for $1 a piece.  They're in excellent condition and all CIB, some with posters. :D

Soul Star is an amazing game.  It really shows the mostly untapped potential the Sega CD had.
Man, the boxed Aladdin looks minty!

Hi guys,

I thought I'd put this out there.  A lot of you are my age and collected similar objects in your youth.  So here is one that I need help with.

Back when I was 16 (24 years ago) I use to frequent a local hobby store.  Stacked on the wall with all the snap n' glue model cars, planes, and boats were some model kits, but these were different.  They were models you made out of building blocks.  They may have been compatible with LEGO, but I don't think so (my memory is foggy).  Anyway, the ones I use to buy were all navy ships.  Small aircraft carriers, destroyers, etc.  The aircraft carriers included one piece white airplanes and the destroyers had one piece gun turrets.

I can't for the life of me remember who made this.  I'm assuming Tamiya, or some other model company.  They were not incredibly expensive, and they were built well.  It didn't feel cheap like the knock off LEGO of today.

Anyway, that's all I have to go on.  I can try to answer questions, but really I'm tapped out.  Here is something similar looking, but this is an actual model, not bricks you assemble.  The reason I'm posting it is because the airplanes were a similar type.

Quote from: guest on 09/17/2013, 11:29 AMSo this weekend I went to the local anime convention, Nan Desu Kan (NDK 2013), for one day and had a good time.  The main reason I went is because Hidenori Matsubara was going to be there, he's a big name animation director and character designer that worked on the Ah My Goddess series and Evangelion as well.  So, I got in the autograph line and asked him to sign a couple things for me:

First my Ah My Goddess Box Set
IMG
Nan Desu Kan NDK 2013 - Hidenori Matsubara Autograph 1 by xcrement5x, on Flickr

Then he did a sketch of Asuka for me from Eva on the back of my liner notes book from the first volume of the Eva DVDs.
IMG
Nan Desu Kan NDK 2013 - Hidenori Matsubara Autograph 2 & Sketch by xcrement5x, on Flickr

Then I got back in line a second time hoping for a second sketch.  Little known fact is that he worked on the 8th episode of Bubblegum Crisis as well.  So I asked him to do a sketch of Priss for me on the back of my LaserDisc liner notes.  He was really intrigued by the fact I had brought a LaserDisc to be signed and wanted to look at it too.  I was sooooo close to getting a second sketch done, but I was told NO by the NDK Staff lady who was in charge since there was only about 10 minutes left.  She refused to let me have the time to get a second sketch (even though others had) because she wanted her own stuff signed. :(  He at least gave me an autograph and a quick sketch on the notes though.

Anyway, at the dealer room I grabbed some small stuff, free Funimation posters (Fujiko, yeaaa):
IMGIMG

And a couple other things, a small Persona 4 figure, a program guide, and a stuffed Moogle for my daughter:
IMG

The last thing I grabbed, was completely outside the anime con, but I had managed to get everything organized in advance.  I talked with a guy on Craigslist and scored a Sony PVM-20M4U.  I met with him at a Starbucks near the con before leaving and loaded it up into my Corolla!  Then when I got home, I took some time to test it out in my garage.

IMGIMGIMG

I don't have anything that outputs RGB now, but I will be working on it soon.  In the meantime I used S-Video to test and make sure it worked.  What a waste to break it in with a SNES though!!   :P
Very nice xelementx.

My old high school had a ton of those Sony's.  I wonder what ever happened to them?

Is the PCE Duo black?  I'm too lazy to look it up.

If so, I use this stuff on my TG-16;

You can use as much as you want, but I only use a little.  It looks wet when you are done, but the product absorbs into the plastic.  Even gives it a nice smell.

Quote from: Deletion on 06/20/2013, 04:43 PMI spot IKEA :)  I have the same shelves but in white and the same glass CD cabinet.
The room is sponsored by IKEA. ;)

IKEA in the room includes;

The black PS3 shelf on the right (recent purchase).
The black glass CD shelf circa late 1990's.
The silver/wood shelves on the left bought in early '01.
The silver framed CafePress TG poster on the right (recent purchase).
The silver magnet board in the far left corner (recent purchase).

The apartment size couch I think is from Leon's, but it might be Loblaws.  Bought it used off Kijiji.  The inexpensive furniture keeps Mrs. Quid happy and allows me to spend the money on more games.

I think I'm going to spend some money and get an Asteroids mural going on the back wall.  I loved playing Asteroids on Atari back as a kid;
IMG

This might look good too, or a variant of it.  It's something simple I could just print out myself.

Quote from: playthegame119 on 06/18/2013, 08:14 PMAfter waiting a long time for a good way to enter the turbografx scene, I found it a couple weeks ago. I managed to get lucky and nab it in an overlooked listing for just over $300 and I think I got a very good deal, but I'll let you guys decide.

IMG

The turbografx works good but the power supply isn't for the cd system, just the turbografx so if anyone knows where I can get a replacement let me know. The turbo express had no audio or video but I was able to repair it and now its rocking. Before anyone asks I am keeping the case because I think it's sweet and it will be useful for trips but if anyone is interested the green bad is up for trade. Excited to enter the world of turbografx!

For those interested here is the original ebay listing

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TurboGrafx-16-/300915955036?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=MJwiADKfTwgpU7Ze3SMTUriW5cg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
So you're the guy that beat my highest bid ($301.00) on this auction.  I really wanted that TurboExpress case.  I have the matching TurboGrafx-16 hard case and it would have been awesome to have the pair.  Congrats on the win, I'm still sour about it.

esteban, the links in post #1 are no longer working.  Something about the website being down.  I'm not sure how long it's been like this.

For anyone wanting to print the Soldier Blade manual, you'll notice the front and back cover are separated in the .pdf making it difficult to print.  I went ahead and combined them.  I don't have an Adobe account so I could not reassemble them with the original .pdf created by NecroPhile.  This at least gives you an option for printing.

Toopy & Binoo plush toys.  You can get them through Amazon.  Toopy (mouse) is about 12" tall.  Binoo (sock cat) is only 5" tall.  Binoo comes attached to Toopy, but he can be easily removed.  I paid $30 off a local eBay guy.  $40 is the going rate.  $50 and you're paying too much.
