@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

What's a sugar pie?

You mean something like this??:

It's a little like Pecan Pie, but without pecans. :P

Already posted these on here but these are the pictures I've got onhand:

Tikus:

Her name is malay for mouse.  When she was young she'd often get up on her hind legs and look up (for no apparent reason).  Reminded me of what rodents do when they sniff the air. :P

Taches:

Her name could be considered the equivalent to "Spot" (or actually Spots) in French. :P

Yup, for some reason I would boot this one and RType just to see the title screen. :P

I would do the same to these games:

Turrican 2 on Amiga

And on PC *gasp*

Hopefully fixed my images...

Here are a few:

When I first managed to do this in Galaga:

Gyruss: It was just a fun experience.

Quartet:  I don't know if this was the first 4 player game, but it was one that I most remember playing.  (I think there were a few driving games like sprint that had 3 or more driving wheels).
IMG

Walking into an arcade and hearing screams of pain.  When I finally get to the head of the cue to see what game it was I saw this:
IMG
(Golden Axe)

The next few are sound related:
I have spent lots of time listening to the music at these title screens on my C64:
IMG and IMG
Ahh... Ahhh Turbo Outrun and R-Type.

Then on my Amiga when I first got it...

I had setup speakers behind me close to where my head would rest when I'd sit down to play.  I got my first taste of cool music with this game...
IMG

Then came the clear voice in this game:
IMG
That awed me at first.

The game that sold me on the SNES:

Especially at that point where you're diving down to the planet and about to play the side scrolling section.  That whole segment gave me goosebumps!

The big distinctive moment for turbo gaming for me came from this area of Dracula X:
IMG

When I first played Dracula X, I was so hyped that at the start of the game I felt a little disappointed.  It was at the moment when I entered the castle, and the music played an all too familiar tune and the graphics really stood out for its time.

I was thinking the same on the new backgrounds.  Although I think the 3rd one:
IMG works fairly well.

Quote from: "stevek666"Yeah, I am just happy to learn that the game was available in Canada. It helps me get a better idea of the Amiga scene. In the U.S. there were very few stores that carried Amiga games in stock (some would "special order" items for you, but the selection of titles sucked and was out-of-date). The places that did carry Amiga software were always specialty shops that were owned by someone who loved Amiga (OK, maybe not "always", but the only two places I knew of were owned / managed by Amiga freaks). :)

Well... At one point we had Amiga software in K-Mart's, Zellers, Sears, CompuCenter and many specialized computer stores that sold Amiga's, Atari ST's, C= 64's.  By the time that Amiga OS 2.04 and the CDTV rolled around Amiga software was pretty much in computer stores.  (Compu-Center still carried them for a few more years.)

Ottawa, however, did have a few computer stores around that still supported Amiga so we were lucky I guess. :P  I was able to buy CD32 software, etc. ;)

<snip! providing translated instructions>
Yes, it would be nice to have had some intructions for imports, then again how many people actually read the instructions? :P  The most useful parts would be to show people what "save" and "load" looked like. :P

Quote from: "stevek666"I have always been annoyed when websites use the U.S. flag to represent North America. I wish there was a "North American" flag. Unfortunately, there really isn't a better way to visually represent N. America than posting three flags (does Quebec get an special one? Then I'd need four flags!).

But that's no good because it's messy! You defeat the purpose of having an icon being a "mental shortcut" if you use more than one of them, I think.
[/tangent]

I don't think that Quebec requires its own flag in order to represent a North American release, mind you that depends on who you talk to. ;)

I've done the followign for a website I had setup a while back (it's for a website for a Canadian division of a worldwide hobby group.)...  This was for selecting languages
English: IMG
and
French: IMG

The flags representing "French" language are Quebec, Franco-Ontarian, Acadian representing the largest groups of french speaking population in Canada. ;P

With that said, that would be one way to do it, but then again, I honestly don't think many people outside of the US are miffed about a US flag being used to represent a North American release. ;)[/img]
