Attaboy TRON, you really do fight for the users! I respect your willingness to support official releases to make sure Capcom is still paid its due for their retro games versus just joining the pack of filthy, downloading pirates playing with emulators! ;)
I use to use mame so i know. Well i did until a few years ago i did find it annoying finding the right rom to use on it only to get a error. Because it's file was missing some thing

My honest reaction (saw it first on Chris Tang's Facebook): So...this "Captain Commando" kidnapped a bunch of kids for a one-way time-travel trip to offer them a "Bodacious Beat 'Em Up Bundle" of only 7 Capcom arcade titles... Wow, what a "great deal!" :P  I'll stick with MAME, kthxbye. ;)

Here, I made a little ghetto video cdr'ing Snatcher on the CDX: Thumbs up bitches!
It was master cast tv if you're wondering but the person doesn't have the cdx any more.Still since you stated a cdx can play burns

Natsume is doing a enhancement for the snes ninja warriors just like what they did with wildguns reloaded.

Quote from: nopepper on 09/06/2018, 12:54 PMI currently only own a CDX (used to own a model 2), and while it has been reliable, it does have what appears to be shielding issues that display as wavy lines that can only really be noticed in some dark backgrounds. From research I've done, this seems to be prevalent on these units and cap replacements won't fix the problem. The other issue is that the sound is not nearly as nice when playing cartridge games as on a high def genesis with model 2 attached. To me, the latter is a much bigger deal, so I keep a genesis hooked up, which kinda defeats the purpose of having the compact CDX in my setup.

Quote from: TR0N on 09/06/2018, 12:25 AMKeep in mind the model one isn't to reliable and they break easily. The CDX,most i've heard there a pain in the ass to repair if it does break plus they can't play burns.Really the best setup is a model 2 with a model one genesis. That's my setup and it works for me plus when i wanted to play snatcher again i went with a burn and i was set.
You can play burned discs on a CDX, not sure what makes you think you can't. Supposedly it damages the laser, so it is not recommended, but to be honest, this could just be an old wives tale just like with the Duo and other cd based systems. I've used CDRs for about 5 years on mine with no issues.

The one thing you absolutely want to make sure is that you use the OEM PSU, or one that is rated accordingly, as using the wrong one has been confirmed (as much as the internet can "confirm") to damage the CDX. Also, pay attention to the battery slots for any signs of leakage and corrosion, as this could have damaged the unit permanently.

And yes, they are a pain to even open, let alone repair, but thankfully nowadays there are lots of tutorials and videos that can guide you through the process.

With all that said, and not having ever owned a model 1, if I were to do it all over again (and space was not an issue), I would just go for the model 2 with a high def genesis. Yeah, it's an ugly as sin setup, but it is the best to play games with optimal picture and sound quality, and isn't that what it's all about in the end?
Youtuber that i follow couldn't play burns on his cdx and he sold it shortly there after.

Quote from: The Last Barbarian on 09/05/2018, 08:08 AMHey guys, I've decided to get either a Sega CD model 1 or cdx. Just wondering what you guys think would be the better choice. I kinda have my heart set on s model 1 but I know they can be pretty unreliable..  which do you think is the better way to go ??

Ps I hate the model 2 side by side design. I know those tend to be the most reliable but I just can't stand the looks of the unit.
Keep in mind the model one isn't to reliable and they break easily. The CDX,most i've heard there a pain in the ass to repair if it does break plus they can't play burns.Really the best setup is a model 2 with a model one genesis. That's my setup and it works for me plus when i wanted to play snatcher again i went with a burn and i was set.

Ah yeah, that thing. There's a place for cartoon-looking videogames I suppose but something feels weird to me about that appearance. Maybe I'm just a traditionalist when it comes to preference of sprite graphics versus this cell art/cartoon/"fabulous" Flash stuff, whatever it is. ;)
I was fine with lizardcube remake of wonderboy.Sure it's cell shading but it still looks hand drawn to me.I assume, they could go with sprites but takes allot more time&money beside the talent to do so which is rare these days.

These came out on DVD ages ago as well, I recall Carl Macek was involved.
That they did through adv films but after they went out of print prices for them sky rocketed. All i have is a bootleg set of them which is a rip of the adv release.Still it doesn't hurt that aura is getting a official release for bluray.Really though, these releases for 80's anime have been slow but it's getting there.
I think I backed this Blu-ray and English dub off Kickstarter.
It was a kickstarter huh i didn't know it's good it's coming to bluray then.If it's the only way for 80's anime to come to bluray i'm all for it.

Looks pretty damn cool. Seems closer to the PS1 HnK game by Banpresto than Ken's Rage, which I think is a good thing. Just wish HnK 2 would get more love.
It will play like the the yakzua series since it was made by the same team.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 07/06/2018, 10:18 AMI have been wanting to play that ninja warriors game. It's so pricy no matter the platform.

What is considered the best port of this game?  Did it ever come out in a arcade compilation later spent he road?
Best ports of the ninja warriors,mega-cd of course then follow by the amgia. It's also on taito memories for PS2 but i don't know how good that port is.The game also had a digital release for PS4 as a arcade archive title to.
That PS4 release sounds interesting. Does it require you to be on line to play?  I hate when PSN requires you to be on line at all times to play digital down load games
For games released by hamster for the arcade archives series do not have online play.

That cover art is way better than the PC Engine version! I really enjoyed the game in the arcade but the PC Engine version was lackluster. Hopefully they did a better job on the Mega Drive version for you.
Ninja Warriors, for the sega/mega-cd is a very faithful port to the arcade original. It is way better compared to the pc-engine version. Also it's soundtrack is great given it was done originally by taito in house band zuntata.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 06/24/2018, 03:24 PMI am so dumb. I have it on the PS4. Haven't played it yet. My entire game library and other collectibles are presently boxed up and in storage.

In between selling my house and looking for a new one.
I have the PS4 version as well that's why i want to sell the PS3 one.

It's also know as ufouria which had a pal release for the nes and there reproductions as well.

Yeah these genesis compilations have been done to death all ready.I've heard the online is awful so i don't know if i'll bother with this collection.I have seen plenty of complaints to wheres the saturn collection, but that system isn't easy to emulate.

Just saw dead pool 2 just like the original, action with a comedic tone mixed in.This one seems to push it more with the humor and action compared to the last one.Which i'm fine with i was just a little disappointed how short the movie was. Also josh brolin, did well enough playing as a cable being the straight man for the movie. After this i don't know how they can top it.

It's gotten pricey complete so i just settle for a disc only copy since it was the cheapest to buy.
