Hey all, just wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions for places to find a fair price on an arcade card for my Duo-R?  i was gonna wait till later but with prices going up all over, though i'd check here for resources...was thinking of trying arcade-gears but i'd want to put in a larger order after paying some bills first!  anyway, thanks for any suggestions offered.

The problem i find is anyone who has one does not want to give it up:-) there are a bunch of JP cards on feebay for what seems to be a decent price but youll need a converter or a modded duo.

Hope it helps!

Did I studder?

Bernie

You obviously did...  He won't need a converter for an Arcade Card Duo....

ah, i should mention, my duo's region-free modded anyway!  ah well, guess ebay's the only option then.

It wouldn't need to be region free even if it weren't.  Arcade Cards were a Japan only release..  :(  I have to get my TG-16 modded so I can use my Arcade Card Pro.  Try hitofjapan on eBay.  They usually have a few, and not at bad prices.

Ah yes Bernie I did stutter lol ass talked before my hands could type lol you are right they are a JP release but seeing as how his is region free it won't matter. The idea was he is going to get a JP card for use with US system (unmodded) then yes he would need a converter. Instead of modding (im sure mod is cheaper) get a converter and never have to open your system :-) S.O.S. Save Our System don't butcher them lol

This has been a Public Service Announcement for the preservation of our beloved TG16/Duo/PCE machines :-)

Bernie

He has a Duo R.  Even if it wasn't modded, he wouldn't need a converter.  :)

Ok so your saying the Duo R is a JP system and not a US release?

Forgive me but I have never owned a Duo and not up to snuff on my Duo stuff :-((

Bernie

Yep.  Duo R was a Japanese system.  All we got here was the Turbo Duo.  After the TG-16/CD anyway.

Very cool I did not know that. Assuming this included the RX also?

Thanks for the info :-)

The RX was Japan only as well.
Besides the TurboGrafx add-on CD and Turbo Duo, There was in fact one other US released CD capable system. The LaserActive PAC N-10.

What kid of prices are you looking for?  I picked up an arcade card pro for $90 and an arcade card duo for $45 shipped from japan..  Took like 3 weeks each to arrive.  But they are in great shape.
they both work in the duo by the way, pro or duo, Everything I read it said that duo had to use arcade card duo..  but the pro works on it too, just won't use the duo's internal memory.

You are correct the Pro card works everywhere and the Duo card will only working in the Duo due to the the system already having the cd system files built in. The Duo card is just memory only and will not allow the cd unit to boot :-( on a standard TG PCE

my friend found a pce arcade card at a random electronics store along with the pce adapter. i was unfortunate to not have money at the time.
