Looking for a used duo that wont cost me an arm and a leg, and I would rather buy state-side instead of paying rediculous overseas shipping costs. If someone has a US one for a deal, ill talk business. Willing and able to do SOME work, like a re-cap, but i really dont want to deal with busted gears or anything major like that.

After realizing that its gonig to run me around 200$ for just a damn SS3.0 card, figured I would rather make a bit more of an investment and have a schnazzy new console to put in my entertainment center  8)

you have no idea what you could be stepping in.

If you have a TGCD system already, you just region mod your TG16.  Then spend all of $10 on a Japanese System 3 card or even an ACD-Pro.

The System 3.0 card is $80 on eBay:

Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Believe me, I had major sticker shock when I saw what the U.S. 3.0 cards were going for.  I knew I had to play Rondo on real hardware so I got this setup put together for about $160.00 including the Japanese 3.0 card.

I have a TG that I hard modded (perm JP) back in 95 or so.  I use it in my U.S. dock with an ACD Pro.

Sold my Duo 2 years ago and haven't looked back.

Duo's are not really worth the price they are getting. They are more prone to break on the cd side than the piggyback cd add on is. Like everyone said you can mod it or get a converter and JP system card. I have a converter and got an arcade card for like 30 bux shipped, the converter might cost ya a few bux but once you have it your open to all the games ever made (If you can afford them) either way good luck.

On the contrary,  I think the duo is actually more reliable then the cd-rom2 add on especially after a complete caps overhaul.  Less moving parts on the duo on the cd side.  It's laser hardly goes bad either.  Also I found it easy to trouble shoot the pots adjustment on a duo then a cd-rom2.

I don't have a duo but I do have an extra pce ifu briefcase setup if you're interested.
Turbo fan since 1991 after owning my first system.

Yes sir!  That's my CIB NES Power Set that I've had since Christmas of 89'.

best of luck on your search. i'm hoping to pick up a boxed duo r or rx as long as I can get a good deal. I have a bunch of pc engine hu card and cd games I've been piling up so have a nice library to play when I get the system! Any system which a lot of shmups is a system I need to get!

Nice to know, all my experience with duos have been the disk side going out. The worst thing I personally have come across for the cd rom2 is the damn middle gear :-(

Yeeeaaa after a bit of research, I definitely think that just a good ol' region mod on my TG16 should take care of my needs. Too bad I cant build it out of parts I can score at RadioShack. I guess it could be done with an 8way DIP switch... But I figured i would just go the mod chip method to minimize the mess inside in case I ever wanna throw an RGB output on that sucker.
