Ok, I feel I am a fairly hardcore computer enthusiast. I have my main rig, htpc, router, and server. I will go more in depth when I get back home with some pics and descriptions.

But I am always interested in what people are running and doing with their computers. So please post pics, tell us what you do with it or whatever.

My computer is a run o' the mill Dell, sporting an i5-4440, 1tb hdd, and 8gb ram.  It's used for test driving games in magicengine and for playing around in photoshop elements and autocad.

Mine is a Dell Vostro 3360 13.3" laptop. I like it for it's portability, while it retained good performance in the year of its release (2012). I take it with me on business trips and vacations for personal entertainment, so it is used only for non-business stuff. Once 500 GB SSDs become affordable and more reliable, I'd like to replace the internal HDD with such one, which takes major hardware surgery though since there's no direct HDD access door.

At work, I'm using a HP workstation with AutoCAD.

Well, I guess, I will start off with my main rig.

Next up is my Router. There isn't to much that is special about this computer as it is just one of my old computers reused. I use PFSense on this machine as I really imo, have not found a better software firewall solution for home use. This computer is the very top server case in my server rack. Lets move over to my HTPC (Home Theatre PC). This computer runs Linux Mint. It provides Netflix, streaming games from my main rig through steam. This gives me access to all windows based games on my Linux desktop. I also stream movies from my server as well as music, etc.

Ok, I almost forgot about my laptop. Gonna list it but I gave it to my fiance so she wouldn't touch my main rig.  I don't remember all the specs exactly but it is a Lenovo and I also run Linux Mint on it.

Nvidia Graphics chip but not sure what one.



Last but not least, my server.

My server is water cooled as well. When I get up the nerve I will crack it open and take some pics so expect them a little later on tonight or this weekend. My server is the second case in my server rack. The bottom case is currently empty but I plan on doing another server that functions as a gaming host server. The current server acts as a file server that streams everything over my network. None of my computers have large drives, mostly just enough for the OS and some games. Everything else, music, pics, movies, basically anything that's not a game goes on my server.
I also have all four nics on the server motherboard bonded for redundancy in case one of the nics fails or goes bad.

As far as my network goes I use a TP-Link 16port Lite managed switch. I also have an Asus wireless router that I only use as an access point. Most all of my cables are Coboc Cat 7 except for a few that I just use for testing outside devices with  or the random computer I am fixing.

I have an 11 year old laptop. It is attached to a really crappy external monitor when I am at my "desk" (in the corner of the living room).

The laptop has outlived my last 2-3 desktops, which were all hand-me-downs. I don't have a desktop currently. To be honest, I don't think I have room for one (I have three kids, which means I lost my office and spare bedroom).

I have PhotoShop CS 2004 on my laptop, and it is still awesome.

Phenom II X2 3.4ghz unlocked to 4 cores on a AM2+ MSI Crossfire motherboard. 4gb ram, a few hard drives, a capture card, and a GTX 470 is installed. OS is Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Case is made by NZXT. Still a fully capable gaming machine.

I have two machines. 

The one I am on is a Phenom II X4 w/ 8GB DDR3 1600 RAM, onboard video, and a fancy ass soundcard, because it's my tard-around machine + Music/Dev machine.    It's MicroATX and built to take up little space.   I have like 94034 USB ports on it too, because I felt like it.   The case is neat.  It's like 5.5" wide, and fanless.  I am not sure how it works successfully, but it does.

I often remote into this one while I am out, on a gimpy laptop.   Who needs all that power in a laptop when you're talking to a real machine.


The other one is Phenom II 106..5T...something idiotic I forget X6 explosion w/ 16GB of DDR OC RAM and an SSD, with SLI'd GTX 480s.

I built it when FFXIV was about to be a thing, and basically got the best AMD/NVIDIA stuff at the time to play it.

and, now, I play retarded 2D games off Steam on it because most 3D shit today on PC is well, shit.

Sometimes I find something good.  Until a game comes out that runs like whale dick on it, I will leave it alone.

The stuff down there is frequently plugged in/ unplugged for stuff (its a bunch of MSX stuff).  So, I gave up on neatly folding.

I just have a basic Dell Latitude E5530 running Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit. The CPU is an i5-3210M @ 2.5GHz. It has 8GB of RAM. Nothing fancy here. I have an external 3TB hard drive half-full of... files. No touchscreen. Touchscreen laptops are for pussies.

I remember hauling around 21" crt's to lan parties and such. Honestly, I don't miss them one bit. But then again I don't really "Lan Party" anymore as I can do all that stuff online now.

It's pretty cool to see what everyone here is using. I think I do get obsessed with my computers and toys a bit. I have been really trying to hold back buying anything this year computer related so I spent some money on a PS4 and now my Duo. Other then that no new electronics this year yet.

I do wish I had a new desk but I think this one is gonna last me till it falls apart. I also think I want a something like a Lazy Boy recliner type computer chair. All puffy that I can lay back in and have the monitors mounted above me. That way when I fall asleep in my comp char I actually get some real sleep. Now when I do, I wake up with a kink in my neck so fierce sometimes I am afraid to move my head. Pick it up off my chest or shoulder.
