@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I spoke recently about how I used to have a TurboDuo but foolishly sold it, and that got the nostalgia juices flowing again. Just so happens a bud did an awesome trade with me for a PCE Duo he's had laying around for years.

The little bags are a cap kit, RGB mod kit, and OBEY chip. :D

PCE! And a bootleg I made for the Dracula X translation.

I thought I would share this pic of my little girl playing her first video game ever:

That game? Bonk's Adventure!

And yes, she's why I'm never in chat anymore...

Oops, I seem to have accidentally done a region and RGB mod to it. Last time I tried to do the region mod I messed up and Beemer had to fix it, so I'm a little proud of this one even if this isn't even the most difficult mod I've done this week.

Sorry, didn't realize a Sega-16 attachment wouldn't display here. Let's try that again.

That's pretty much what I did, but I think the best spot for the DIN jack is in the back near the AV outs:

The setup works great, but I get some jailbars when the CD is loading (but not during gameplay.) I haven't bothered trying to open it up to shield the cables from interference or anything.

Ah, the memories. I used to daisy chain two of those Retocon switchboxes together back in the day. It was a very good unit, available pretty cheap as I recall. I used to use one of those Madcatz ones too, it wasn't quite as good as the Retocon IIRC, but still fine for composite.

These days, I use a combination of my Onkyo receiver (it has 3 component inputs) with one of these switchboxes:

The reciever's signals are perfect, I just wish it had more ports. The Pelican works better than just about any switchbox I've seen, but there is still a slight bit of interference if you are looking very closely.

Quote from: esteban on 03/11/2012, 01:53 AMSo, can anyone help answer my earlier questions about different versions of SFII providing different AI? IMG
I played SF2 Turbo SNES a lot when it was new, SF2 SCE Genesis when I got a Nomad a few years later, and more recently the PCE's SF2 CE. I've also dabbled a bit with the version on the Capcom Classics collection on PSP, which I assume is emulated from the arcade.

The AI within the same version of the game is identical as far as I can tell. Zangief still falls for the jumping straight up HK/Sweep trick every time, Ken nonstop shoryukens all the time, Sagat still "TIGER TIGER TIGER's" all the time. There are variances between the different editions though, M Bison and Sagat are much more difficult in the original SF2 than in most of the other games, for example.

The DIN plug was replaced with a DIN 8, with the extra pins adding RGB lines. When I get to an actual computer I'll look up more detailed specs.

Edit: This picture shows the pinout:

Looks like I have found one (thanks Senshi!)

I've got a doujindance RGB Duo-R as well.  I've never used a Jrok board, but I use my Duo, PSX, Saturn, DC, SNES, X'Eye, and Master system all though an Atlona/CYM RGB to Component transcoder that you can pick up on ebay for about $60.  You have to perform an audio mod on it, but it's really simple. It works great.

Anwyay, here is my beautiful system.  I had an issue with the audio not working out of that PSX-scart adapter thing, so I added RCA jacks to the back of the system.

I also have my original unmodded Duo R system. I need to get around to selling it one of these days.

Here are the pics of the mod and system.  I couldn't get this forum to upload them, so I'm linking from another forum.

Here is the top part of the motherboard.  The red green and blue wires are obviously RGB, the black is composite sync I think, and the thing wrapped in plastic is the amp.  There is also a yellow wire coming out of the amp that is connected to the underside of the mainboard, I have no idea what it is for, it is not mentioned on the gamesx RGB mod page. The larger wires at the top are going to the AV jacks.  Red is right, green is left, and black is both composite video and ground. I only have three colors of wire.

IMG

The bottom:

The exterior-I swapped the cases with my old Duo. The RGB one had some minor scratching, but my old one was nearly perfect. This mod was my first time (well, second, I practiced on a Genesis) drilling into plastic, so it's not as straight as it could be.

IMG

By the way, if anyone knows what that yellow wire is for, I'd like to know.  I would guess by the color it has something to do with composite video, but I really have no clue since it doesn't go to one of the chips.
