10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Quote from: Burnt Lasagna on 11/05/2011, 05:24 PMI just recently installed FMCB to play games off an internal HD (only works with fat PS2's)
I used this method to install it.
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/new-way-install-fmcb-88649/

If you wanted to play imports on a slim you would have to use the ESR app for FMCB.
he wants to play legit import disks. the only way to do that is with a modchip (you can use something like swapmagic, but it requires that you tape down the lid sensors and have to swap between disks every time you want to load a game). with ESR you need to rip the disk, patch it then burn it.
as for my install service, the price varies by motherboard version.

Quote from: Mathius on 08/06/2011, 01:41 PMWhich versions of PS2 slims do you offer your services for?
what version did you want modded? i'd have to check the diagrams for the PS2 version and particular chip you want installed.
Quote from: thesteve on 08/06/2011, 06:22 PMi generally do not recommend moly grease as its abrasive (causes wear).
using a light silicone or lithium grease is preferred
the sled on the PS2 is all metal. it will not damage it.

i am offering PS2 modchip installs for most versions of fat PS2 and some models of slim PS2.
i am charging $75 plus shipping for the install service on most fat PS2s, price may vary depending on motherboard version and chip type. slim PS2s will also vary in price depending on chip and board version. (does not include the modchip, you must provide that) i will install the chip and re-grease the laser sled with synthetic molybdenum grease. please make sure your PS2 is in good working order (no disk read error issues, etc) this service does not include repairs, though i may be willing to make some repairs at additional cost if i have the part that is needed or if you can provide it. if you do not know where to buy a good PS2 chip i can probably link you to a couple of sites that sell them.
i can accept payment by cash or postal money order (sorry, i do not accept paypal)
premodded PS2 systems:
SCPH-30001R (version 6) with DMS3 2.0 installed. includes power cable, AV cable, and 1 controller.
IMG
system will play backup and import PS1 and PS2 games, can use non-sony hard drives on games that had official hdd support (ATAD patching) it can also force NTSC on PAL PS1/PS2 imports without making the screen offcenter. the chip will autoboot PS2 games and DVD video disks (who uses a PS2 for dvd movies anyway though? :P) and will boot PS1 disks if you hold the O button while turning the system on.
asking $200 plus shipping.

Quote from: Tatsujin on 04/29/2009, 02:31 AMgreat system, where half you games are supposed to die purposely after certain years.
actually, they removed that protection for the CPS changer games. the CPS1 wiki page has more info on that:

Quote from: Pcenginefx on 04/05/2009, 11:16 PMThanks for all the support guys :(  I'm doing this because for once I'd like to maybe cover the expense of running the site which I have funded on my own for 10+ years.  All it takes is a click.
ehh i think you should setup a paypal donate button. i'd rather give a few bucks directly to you than support the cunts that run those ad companies

Quote from: Dark Fact on 03/03/2008, 10:59 PMI had an NES game called Track & Field II.  During some times when the NES glitches up on me, the glitched screen shows japanese text.  It was pretty cool, but it still fucked up my game. :(

That is another reason why I'm asking if it works for NES games.
ah that's pretty funny. i can get some silly things to happen in N64 games if i tilt the cart slightly so that some pins lose contact

Quote from: Dark Fact on 03/03/2008, 10:34 PMYou can actually put games into japanese mode by removing them from their decks and putting them back in? Does it work for NES games?
nahh, the genesis has region jumpers on the mainboard, they werent always used as a lockout mechanism some carts had all versions of the game on one cart selectable by the region jumpers. sometimes it was just the language that changed, sometimes various aspects like difficulty would change depending on the region setting. streets of rage is a good example, if in jap mode it changes to bare knuckle but in USA/euro mode it stays streets of rage. i think i just confused the CPU when i was messing around with swapping different carts to see what i could get to happen. not all games have different languages on them though

Quote from: Crystal Xiphas on 03/03/2008, 08:26 PMThat seems awfully dangerous to me.

I read my Genesis manual and it says you should not remove cartridges when the power is on.
ive fucked with cart swapping so many times and have NEVER had it damage a console. you can get some neat glitches to occur with it O.O i once glitched my genesis into jap mode (thunderforce 2 showed the jap title screen )

speaking of altered beast and strider, for the genesis version of strider ther's an infinite lives cheat you can activate by booting the system with altered beast in it then yanking the game out at the title screen and then putting strider in and hitting reset (has to be done while the system's still on of course) ive tried it and it does work
