That, what was your first emulation experience?

For me it was Nesticle and Genecyst. Back in summer 98, I was talking to a long time friend on the phone and he told me he had NES and Genesis games on his 486.

I was like "no way dude, that's not possible". I paid him a visit a couple days later, he fired up the emulator and I was like "no way, this is not happening, pinche me, I must be dreaming".
I came back home with the "starter pack" (bunch of floppies) he gave me, copied everything, fired up Genecyst and I was still like "no way".

Back then, the cool thing was having and playing all these games on the computer, saving shelf space  and money.

I never would have thought I'd feel nostalgic for the original hardware. Today, I feel nostalgic for both.

Just curious, how many of you still use good ol' Win98 on real hardware? at least from time to time.

What do you use it for?

I use the old PC mostly to slowly burn stuff with the Liteon burner. I found the old lpt scanner which still works nicely and found an office xp disc, so it can be used for some productivity too  O:)

Sometimes I like to relieve the good old times with 4x4 Evo, Monter Truck Madness, Flight Simulator 98, Jazz Jackrabbit 2, etc using my Gravis gamepad pro (remember those?)

Update: The CPU pins had to be reflowed. After the reflow it is working fine. Gameofyou will clean the board, let it dry then conduct another test.

[General Gaming / Sega CDX advice]

So I have this Sega CDX with disc reading issues.

Looks like it has trouble moving the lens when jumping to a different track.

What I typically do before playing is I fire up the CD player and play audio sequentially (random play won't work). After about 30 mins of "warming up" the unit, then I can play (well, sometimes, depends on the game).

Do you think it's just a lubrication problem?

[PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / I'm just starting too]

Hi everyone, For sometime I wasn't sure if I wanted to collect for the TG16 / PCE (NES / Genesis veteran). After watching some Turboviews, I decided to get me a system.

After some research I went with a region modded Duo-R. It arrived on Friday along with Bomberman 93, Kaizō Chōjin Shubibinman,  Parodius (can't stop playing that one), Galaga 88, Wonderboy 3, Nekketsu Kōkō Dodgeball Bu: Soccer Hen and Keith Courage.

Overall, I love my new system, my only complain would be the controller cable is too short, which takes me to my first question

Will this cable work as an extension?
