General Gaming / Vita games?
08/30/2014, 10:10 AM
Just ordered the Borderlands 2 bundle Vita. Always wanted to play the Assassin's Creed game on the Vita but haven't researched the rest of the library. Any suggestions for other games? I'm into platformers, shooters and some RPGs...because that really narrows it down.

Off-Topic / Show me yer POGS

Seems like a bunch of us were into these when we were younger and we've hijacked another thread talking about them. I'll be posting pics of some I found at my parents' house soon. Have to pick up my slammers next time I go home.

Saw a video on YouTube about this product made for 3DO. http://www.stoneagegamer.com/3do-usb-adapter-panasonic-fz-10.html Would any of you do this or have it done to your system if they made one for PCE/TG?

Off-Topic / Shark Week?
08/16/2014, 10:41 AM
Anybody enjoy Shark Week on Discovery? Was never a huge fan of it but I'd watch certain shows - especially if the Mythbusters have a special. Seems like the whole week is all about their big, fake mockumentaries lately. Might as well just put Sharknado on. Always thought sharks were cool and I'm pretty sure the first book I ever read on my own was called "Hungry, Hungry Sharks," but the whole week is blah to me now.

General Gaming / PS4 or Xbox One
08/14/2014, 11:50 PM
Would like to get some advice from any of you that have one, or both, consoles. I have a PS3 now but the next versions of my favorite games, Assassin's Creed Unity and Arkham Knight, are only next gen. There are exclusives from both systems that I'd like to play, but nothing really pushes me over the edge. Loved the Infamous games so wouldn't mind playing the PS4 one and I haven't played a Halo game since Halo 2. The Master Chief collection will help me cover the ones I've missed and Titan Fall also looks great. Have reasons to pick up both, but still over a small library of games.

PS4 isn't backwards compatible and I don't own any 360 games so that is not an issue. Will be until October or so before I pick one up, so it might come down to a price drop/sale or bundle that makes the decision easier.  Any suggestions?

I know there are a couple threads about TE repair stickied, but I couldn't find an answer. Got a TE yesterday and just got a fresh set of batteries. Turns on but screen is black and no sound. Could one cap be effecting the unit from working? Meaning if I change the cap in the video circuit, could both picture and sound work? I know there could be a lot of variables but just wondering if anyone can answer from experience.

Might be a while before I can work on it, so also wondering if I should just go ahead and change out all the caps while I have it open.

I'm constantly stopping at thrift stores and flea markets looking for video games. Been checking stores for about 8 years but really only started focusing on games the past 3 or so. Have found games for many systems and the consoles themselves but never anything TG related. Any of you guys find anything good out there?

I have around 20 HuCard games and most are complete. Picked up a few lately and started buying loose only as the prices for loose are still pretty high. Is this what you guys would do if you were just starting out? I've read suggestions elsewhere on the forum to just pick up a Turbo Everdrive and then just wait for deals to pop up. Will probably get one of these eventually but do you think loose cards is the way to go? Might even do the same thing for CD games as well. Any advice?

I'm intrigued a little more every time they release a little more material in trailers but I'm still not sure what I think about it. I've been ok with every "new" version of the turtles since the original cartoons. I think the current version on Nickelodeon is pretty good but this - I don't know. I think they look hideous and why are they freakishly tall? I remember their heights from the original arcade game and weren't they all around 5 foot 5?

I want to go ahead and introduce myself before I start posting too much. I'm johnnymad and I'm from Louisiana. I'm new to the site and I'm really enjoying it. There's lots of information here and I see myself learning a lot. I'm a big NES collector and have been into the Turbografx for a couple years now. Always wanted a Turbografx as a kid but I don't know if I ever even saw one in these parts.

I now have a TG-16 that I region modded, a DUO, a PC Engine DUO that needs a little love and about 20 or so Hucards. I know about some good Hucard games but very little about CD games as I recently picked up each DUO. I need to pick one up to verify if my CD drive even works (suggestions on a cheap game to test it with would be appreciated). Will be browsing the forum to find out which ones you all recommend. Really glad my account was approved and look forward to being a part of the community.

I recently region modded my TG-16. Had a couple issues with the mod at first since it's been a while since I soldered anything. Got it working but I'm having trouble getting the system closed with the added wires and circuit board. Could I get away with not putting the shield that goes over the hucard connector? I know the 7805 has to be connected to the bottom shield to spread the heat. I could probably add a small nut or washer to make sure it touches the shield. Would this be ok or should I just cut away some of the top shield to make it fit? Looking forward to some advice so I can get this thing closed up.
