Hey there!

Last year I translated the soundtrack to CD Denjin/ Super Air Zonk and everyone here told me to do Dekoboko! Well, it took a long time but I kept my promise to deliver. I also found out the game is looooooooooooooosely connected to the Valis series.

Here you go! Enjoy! Spread the word! And, OBEY!
ps sorry I don't really know how to embed it TT

One game I've always loved was JJ and Jeff. It was literally the first TG16 I had, save for Keith Courage. Of course it's known the Japanese version Kato and Ken had some differences. Well I went out of my way, found the Kato and Ken tv show, watched it and made comparisons of the show and game and the regional differences. The games birthday is November 30! So if you ever played it, you'll surely want to see it.

Hey all. Don't forget to take some time and play your Duo or Super System card (if you have one) because Oct 10 this year is the 25th birthday of the TurboDuo! even if not, just think how long its been and how great it is to have this community and other sites keeping the Turbo family going all these years!

Hey all.

I've been to this site off and on for a very long time. I don't come back as often as I used to since, I've sold off all of my games, but still come back to read news now and then. I actually don't read the forums too much because I'll get the itch to get back into it and spend all my money, when it's probably not the best idea haha

Anyway I've made a video where I translated the volcanos to the open, game over and ending to CD Denjin, aka Super Air Zonk. It was fun to do and I hope you enjoy it. If response is good then I'll make more Turbo related ones.

It is complete in box, instruction and AR cards and 4GB SD card too. like new with no scratches or marks outside nor on the screen

also included is a white 3DS LL charge cradle. this item was never for sale in japan and was given only as a premium to club nintendo members in japan so it is rather rare and hard to find even here in japan .

Just thought I'd post something I found white surfing . It's in Japanese but it doesn't say anything a good pce fan doesn't already know, but it's cool to see something different from time to time.

wayback.tomorege.com/contents2_katei_pce_abake_syodai.html

In the page there's links to core grafx 1 and 2 and the main page has other game stuff

If yad like I could translate it or other pages I come across. I just thought I'd share if noones ever found it

i picked up a pce cd rom interface unit for pretty cheap. cheap because it was untested. untested because it had no ac adapter!

can anyone point me to a modern equivalent I can buy online? perhaps one with a slimmed down power block !

once i can get power to it, i can see if it works!

Hey all

I used to post on here long ago. To pay off all kinds of debts and also lack of time I had gotten out of pce and tg 16 gaming. But now after some years things have turned around and I said oh what they hey, let's start all over!

So I bought a white pce, will be restoring it up and getting some games soon!

Also, anyone else on this board living in japan? I'm a long time resident and thought there might some fans near by. If not, I could provide some good japan game stories

Thanks

When i go back to my parents house for a visit in about 4 weeks, i have been told i have to remove all of my quote-end-quote junk from there. this includes my boxed  6 button pc engine duo system . i also had a region free switch added to it so it can play just about anything. so if anybody would like to but it  let me know now so i can get ready to send it as soon as i get there.

there are also some games, but i think they were all copied so i wont  include that into negotiation the price since its not the original, but if some originals are found i can let you know.

i think theres an arcade card too but i cant confirm it until i go back

as for why its there, i just didnt have enough space when i left or enough time to sell it to a loving home, i would never mistreat a PCE or abandon it!  [-X

i saw a boxed, probably mint (it was under glass) turbo express at a store here in  japan for only 12900 yen! didnt buy it, but it will likely sit there a while.

i have had it with the wii VC

what was once great has fallen to crap!

with releases brought down to only ONE a week and of poor quality or already existing on PS2 comps, it just makes me mad

PSP CFW is awesome! i never thought cracking a system open could lead to such fun!

but i cant seem to find a tg16 and tg-cd emu system.

is there one?

id like to start a thread on the magical dinosaur tour. mainly because i have never seen it ever mentioned on this site at all!

truly it is not a game, and i bought it knowing full well that it was not, but i think it is still a great a experience and a unique curisoty of the turbo library as well as CDroms of that time.

I am not sure how much dialog is in the game, but it feels like it goes on for eternity! each dino has a ton of details and i actually did learn alot about them. and dinosaurs themselves are cool.

the opening and close animations are pretty fun, and feel like some hi budget documentary. when the baby dinosaur falls to its death, that just still makes me laugh!

but you have to wonder why this 'game' of all games was brought over in english? with so many other games that never made it over that were obviously MUCH easier to translate, they chose this one instead. I think this may be the most accomplished and difficult translation the TG CD ever have. Ys cosmic fantasy and the others be damned! This has tons of text and voice over! and while i dont think it is a 'bad' game perse, as enjoyable as it is, i think we would have all traded its translation for just about anything else. i suppose NEC wanted to show off the the TG CD was as good as a PC as a teaching tool or something? thankfully the 3do did that to overkill and we never have to worry about that again haha!

also what is its estimated rarity? since it is not talked about so much here, i assume that the demand for it is low. but alot of low demand games are also pretty scarce and the price stays kind of low because no one wants it.

so what are your thoughts?

i havent heard much at all about what will become of WDs games for the wii. it would be a shame for those games to get lost. and translating those old rpgs would be  right up the VCs alley. but when they folded what happened to the rights? does the new gaijinworks company inheirit them? or what?

so whats different between the us and jp games? i only own the jp version.  is the song still n the us verson or changed at all? what else?

General Gaming / emu on PS3?
09/03/2007, 04:11 AM
So some NES emu's are popping up for the PS3 already. it sounds like it could be a dream come true for many emu enthusiasts. as sony is being pretty hands off with the use of linux and endless space in the HD.

so naturally the big question is, will  we ever see magic engine, or any other emulator pop up for ps3? either ported or from scratch? im really interested to see what could happen. as the wii is great and all with its tg16 offereings but without and CD games, it will never be prefect. it would be great to  keep all my games on the HD and keep the originals packed away safely.

Off-Topic / CDR speeds
05/01/2007, 06:58 AM
so is it the disc it self that has to be for a certain speed , or my burner, that has to be set at a certain speed?

i set my computer to burn at 1x yet my version of alcohol 120 only goes down to 4x! its making my cdrs into crap!   the cdr i was using, which now i have ran out, only say 52x, do i need to find a certain brand to get a 1x?

anyone got some help for me?

so is there a definitate source of games that were planned to come to the US but werent? listing the reasons, amount of translation progess and dates of the projects.  all i seem to find is different pages, talking baout certain things without any real list.

i would just like to know how close we were to some games, how many there were, and why we never saw them, including the heart break that was the cancelation of Cosmic Fantasy 3 (though i knew that one already)

i managed to find a mint in the box pce duo r for only $70! good deal?

its a good feeling to not succumb to the ebay overcharge

so  while we are waxing nostalgic on  old TZD flyers and toys r us overstock on other threads, it had me thinking.  there was once a store in my town which had a movie and game rental area, which they also had a large amount of TG16 games.

it was part of a somewhat very long strip mall which on the other end had a short lived toystore, which carried tg16 until its closing in 1991. so this rental place had all game formats from 1990 and 1991, but what was cool is that when that store closed down they continued to rent out the tg16 and tg-cd games. as a result i was able to play just about every game put out from 89-91.  the rental place inside the store closed down some time in 1996 and what happened to all those games is unknown, they never sold them, it all just closed one day.

it was however the ONLY store i have ever seen in my life where tg16 games were rented.  most stores of the time were strictly NES and only touched the genesis after it had really taken off. it was good to see at least one place that rented our games. i have never seen a store rent out sega cd, 3do, jaguar, neogeo or imports.
by the time ps1 saturn and n64 had come about, only places such as hollywood or blockbuster were renting  anymore, and it sucks the fun out of it knowing what mainstrean selection from a big corporation is going to get you. of course by then used games were more prevalent and often cheaper than 1 or 2 rents so screw em ayways.

this was in the pittsburgh, pa. area. robinson township. the store was called phar-mor. but since i have not lived there for many years i cant say if it still opeates, but they quit renting in 95 or 96

so does anyone else have stories to share. where and when? i would like to hear them.

So is there a list of the Japanese hucards  by volume number? i notice a few of them have this listing in the upper right corner. but what does it mean? and how many were there?

Off-Topic / NEC makes hybrid battery
04/13/2007, 08:34 AM
I dont know where this post should go but i will put it here.  there is no mention of PC engine or any NEC history really, but some about nissan.  perhaps these cars will have a plug in slot  for the GT or LT

TOKYO - Nissan and electronics maker NEC will produce batteries for ecologically friendly vehicles, the companies said Friday, signaling efforts by the Japanese automaker to catch up with rivals that have a head start in green technology.

Nissan Motor Co., Japan's No. 3 automaker, and NEC Corp. are investing 490 million yen ($4.1 million) to set up a joint venture by the end of this month, to produce lithium-ion batteries for green vehicles, including electric cars and hybrids by 2009, they said in a statement.

Nissan has fallen behind Japanese rivals Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. in developing hybrids and other ecologically friendly technologies that reduce gas emissions blamed for global warming.

Tokyo-based Nissan has started selling hybrid cars, including the Altima, but licenses the technology from Toyota. Hybrids switch between a gas engine and electric motor to deliver better mileage and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

But Nissan has developed what it said was a superior auto battery technology with NEC, Executive Vice President Carlos Tavares said.

Nissan plans to introduce its original hybrid vehicle by 2010, and an original next-generation electric vehicle in the early part of the next decade, he said.

"Together Nissan and NEC's engineers have addressed the key challenges of cost, performance, safety and reliability. We believe that we have a breakthrough technology: the lithium-ion battery produce we will produce," Tavares said.

Lithium-ion batteries are common in gadgets such as laptops and cell phones but have yet to be fully adapted to the more rigorous demands of a car engine.

Hybrids from Toyota and Honda use nickel-metal hydride batteries, although automakers, including General Motors Corp. of the U.S., are working on lithium-ion batteries for vehicles.

The battery product from NEC and Nissan will be made available to all automakers, Nissan said.

"Co-development with Nissan has enabled a superior-class battery that we expect to spread in the market at an unmatched speed," NEC Executive Vice President Konosuke Kashima said.

Nissan will have a 50 percent stake in Automotive Energy Supply Corp., the new joint venture, while NEC and subsidiary and battery maker NEC Tokin Corp. own a combined 50 percent.

Although sales of hybrids and cars boasting other environmentally friendly technology are still a fraction of standard models, both Toyota and Honda have seen their brand image improve from promoting such advances, such as the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic hybrids.

Sales of Toyota and Honda small cars have jumped in the U.S. and other overseas markets lately on the back of soaring oil prices.

Nissan was near bankruptcy before entering an alliance with Renault SA of France in 1999, and is forging a gradual turnaround.

Carlos Ghosn, chief executive at Renault and Nissan, who led the revival, in the past has played down the importance of hybrids, which are expensive to develop and take time to catch on.

He had stressed instead innovations in gas engines, while saying Nissan was working on its own hybrid technology.

Toyota is the first automaker to sell a mass-produced hybrid to consumers, with the Prius in 1997. Toyota has dozens of patents on the technology and has sold more hybrid vehicles than any other car maker.

Nissan shares, which have declined since earlier this year, lost nearly 2 percent in Tokyo to close at 1,228 yen ($10.3), while NEC dipped 1.2 percent to 642 yen ($5.4).
