Who would have though that such a sissy la-de-da dating sim would have a neat little hardcore mech shmup within the game? Not me.
There is even a Twinbee minigame too. That I would have expected.

Thanks for posting this.

I'm curious as to why we haven't heard about these before. Or maybe it's common knowledge and I'm the only one not in on the fun?

The graphics in that Twinbee game look awful, though. Even through the crappy YouTube codec I can see the pixels. Looks like an early NES effort.

Force Gear, on the other hand, looks awesome.

Well that is how the 1985 arcade version looked. It is supposed to be a timed version of the first Twinbee game.

Wow, Force Gear would be really impressive as a full game. They even put effort into the sound. Too bad they never made Force Gear with a Tokimeki Memorial minigame instead.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

That Force Gear is pretty rad. I've invested a total of about an hour into PS1 version of Tokimeki Memorial. Had I known there was neat little things like that, I would've played some more! (Not to mention my Japanese skill was near zilch around that time).

Yeah man. I wish Konami actually made Force Gear a stand alone full game. It would have been an excellent PCE exclusive Konami shmup.

Holy cow! Force Gear looks freaking awesome to the max! Some really cool graphics and effects with some outstanding sound! Gameplay looks like it would be interesting too. I wonder if Konami was ever making that into a full game, whether before or after the release of Tokimeki Memorial? Looks like way too much time was put into it to simply just be a demo. I want to know what those "Ace Pilot" and "Escape" modes are.

Did anyone notice the score initials at the end of Twin Bee? ELF (I use this one a lot actually, just to mock a dorky friend that used to use that) and KKK! Was that Konami's idea to put KKK or did the person who owns the game put that for fun? Also that Twin Bee demo had great sound too.

Holly shit. There are a lot of minigames in TokiMemo, but I never ran across anything like this. Its pretty obvious that Force Gear is an abandoned project. This is very similar to the unfinished Thunderforce VI hidden in Segagagaga on DC.

If I ever get a hold of this game & get to this point, I'd totally upload the real-hardware usable save game cfg file using nanami's bank.

Actually, can you 1) use load the game up in an emulator using the me save-state file, 2) load up nanami on the emulator, 3) and finally burn the real-hardware usable save file on the iso and transfer it over to the real hardware?

Hm... This could be a little project that I could try out. :-k

Alright......who's the bastard that keeps outbidding me! It better not be someone I know, cuz then it's awkward(which is why I don't like the anonymous bidder thing on ebay) but I'm breathfire, just incase you can't see my name. I thought I owned it, but, it turns out I own the Saturn version. I want this one, so I can check out Force Gear dag nabbit! I don't even have a rip of the game ](*,)
IMG

termis

Ok, so some good news... =D>

After fiddling around with a rip of tokimeki and magic engine for some time, I was able to extract the actual save file that unlocked these shooters, and create an iso image of nanami so you can write this save data to your real PCE backup memory. (Holy fuck, manually typing in ~100 lines of hex data -- not so fun!) So now you can play this thing on the real hardware right away without having to suffer through the whole dating sim & trying to unlock the games.

I must say it's pretty damn impressive. By far the most impressive mini-game I've seen to date (I know that's not saying _too_ much, but Force Gear really could've been an excellent stand-alone game.)

Here's what you need to do:

1) Download the ISO here -- http://www.savefile.com/files/1566910
2) Burn the ISO. I used Nero, but I suppose whatever works.
3) Put the disc in your player, and on the menu, select "Restore a file".
4) Select the tokimeki file (disregard the "beast3" file, that's my end save file for KO Beast), and write it to your backup ram.
5) Then boot up the actual game, and on the title menu, select Option (オプション)
6) On the option menu, select Omake (おまけ)
7) And now you're playing on the real hardware, cause emulators are for lamers!

I guess I gotta go and get the real copy of the game now. Never really thought I'd be hunting this game down, as I have the SS version, and didn't really care for it so much.

BTW, that ISO file will be gone after 30 days of inactivity, so anyone thinks it's important enough, please host it somewhere more permanent.

SignOfZeta

Nice job! I used Disk Utility in OSX to make the CD and it works perfectly.

Yeah, after reading on some review that there were slightly different minigames amongst the 4 different PCE revisions, I looked through some Japanese sites by searching the word "Force Gear" to make sure that this was on all the versions (However, the Japanese wikipedia faq site says that there were only minor bug fixes between versions, so I'm not sure if the minigames were actually different at all... And I have no intention of trying out all 4 editions =;). And by the search results, they definitely know about this game. It just didn't help that this game didn't appeal to westerners, as it'd be mostly random icon clicking and seeing numbers go up & down to non-Japanese readers. And those who previously reviewed it in English (even ones that were the pretty thorough like hardcoregaming 101's review) didn't mention anything about Force Gear.
