I have recently modded my Pc Engine Duo to have component video and while the picture is sharp and has correct contrast I notice very faint vertical bars in the backround of some games. The way I added component was by amplfying the signal with a CXA1645P and feeding the lines to a din 8 connector then to rgb scart to yuv converter. Is this a common problem with the duo or is some thing wrong with the circuit.

It kinda sounds like some of the signal isn't getting completely separated, but component video isn't really my area of expertise so don't hold me to it  :)

I'm interested to know what you find out.

I've been wanting to mod a TG for component video for a long time but if that's the best result you can get out of it I'm not going to bother.

I've been meaning to add RGB to my PCE Duo for a while - is this chip better than making your own RGB amp (like this: http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/duorgb.php)?

SCART Specs say you need 0.7 volt peak to peak. Will this chip do?

In fact if any one has done the RGB mod themselves, I'd be interested to hear their experiences.

The CXA1645p is supposedly better as many different amp options exist but with questionable results and you can make s-video with the chip if you choose. The bars are very faint kind of the same effect some genesis model 1 gets running through composite.

That's my preferred RGB method.  I use the S-Video encoder with either the 1645 or 2075 and get both S-Video and RGB amped from it.  Doing one for El Steve right now.
