When I want information about a specific system, I like to go to the source. These forums have a ton of knowledge and until these last few posts, helpful people. I've used Turbokon and I support the homebrew scene.

Reading up on the Tobias bs and then your comments about another forum reminded me of what's wrong with the net.

I'm not trying to white knight anything and apologize for derailing the thread and ruffling feathers (that's what Fighting Street is for).

It is. Mondo print of the first alone movie. Artist interpretation of a movie poster. Has the word Aline on it to but I had trouble taking a good pic with how it would curl from either end.

Back in my poster collecting days, I would have loved that.

I might wait as being an early adopter feels more like beta testing. Also I will need to find a Saturn in good condition but with a bad laser so I don't feel like I am gutting good hardware.

Right now I don't have a 20 pin with a bad laser so I'm holding off atm.

I do like the idea of having a complete, working backup on hand so if any improvements are made...

Can you summarize what the purpose is of this BIOS?

You pop in any region disc (not cd-r) and play. No switches, carts or buttons, just pop in the cd.

Region free period.

If you have a V Saturn or Hi Saturn, you can still have the same start up logo too.

One of the games Venom is referring to is a Ultraman fighter.

You just made me choke up a bit at work.  The cat I grew up with was named Sandy (with a Y though!) and was an orange colored cat that I loved so much.  He lived to be 19 years old until we had to put him down due to a tumor and some other compounding health problems. 

This is a bad picture of my cat Winston sleeping with some Sega Controllers in my office.

Sandie is 15ish and 3 years ago, we found out she has kidney failure. We gave her special food for a year and she ended up refusing to eat it. We started feeding her Whiskas pate (cheap crap) and her numbers have actually improved. The vet was/is pleasantly surprised and credits the environment (us) for her improved quality of life.

We took in a stray pup last summer and his energy level is too much for Sandie right now. She lived with our old dog Boo for 12 years so she checks Ozzy constantly.

Been working on this off and on for about a year now and I think its pretty much finished.  Its basically a new TurboBooster + or Tennokoe Bank system for PCE and TG systems.  TurboBoosters and Tennokoe Banks were used as a memory card for games that supported this feature.  High scores, levels, etc were saved.  There is a list of games that support it somewhere.



The original TB+ and Tennokoe used 2k of battery backed up SRAM.  Similar to Neo, but it required a custom Hudson chip for it to work.  Well, I found a source for these and thought I'd make a new version.  All NOS chips, nothing is sacced to make this project.

Mine has the standard AV out, and it also has the 9pin DIN for RGB out.  This pic doesnt show it, but I wired up broken's RGB amp and wired it to Omega RGB pinout.

It also has 16 separate banks of 2k FRAM, so no battery is needed.  The switch on the side is a 16 position rotary switch.  So that's 16 memory cards in one.

I'll be working with Todd on getting an optional plug in RGB amp for these so those who dont want the standard AV can plug his board in and have it wired for Omega RGB out.  Then you can buy Quan's AV cables.  Simple huh?

Theres a few more tweaks to the PCB, but this is basically what it will look like. Todd is trying to find a source for the connector, but until then I have this weird solution that works well, its just a pain to put together.  I also will probably have a laser cut top and bottom for these at one point as well.

It may not be done this year, but if anything maybe Jan-Feb.  The initial run will probably be around 25, but if there is enough interest I could make more.  Probably a price around $50, that's what I'm hoping for.

As Turf mentioned, I will be redesigned a plug in RGB board for his BoostMasta. Depending on what the final version of his board looks like, I might also incorporate a component video section as well. That way via the 9 pin mini din you can have either RGB or component video using Quan's Omega Scart RGB and Component video cables.


edit: And yes, I am helping him track down a better source for 69 pin connectors. We have found one, but the samples they sent us weren't deep enough to plug into a PCE.

The problem with a CMVS, is that if you are willing to pay a good chunk of cash, you are far better off buying a nice fully featured supergun, as then you can play other arcade boards.   A dedicated CMVS only plays MVS.  If you have tons of cash to blow go for it, but I feel your typical budget-minded MVS owner can do better.

When I bought my CMVS (MV1B) I was pretty ignorant about superguns and the options available. I don't regret it (and now have a gun) but I should have done more research.

I was just considering the price difference of MVS carts versus home carts. I did save more than enough to cover it's cost.

I assume what ever saves the data is dead.  Most likely a battery.  Since you are calling it an ''Omega'' I'm guessing this is one of those insanely overpriced massproduced CMVS units.   You should ask the guy that made it.

There are reputable modders who do it cheaper. The Omega isn't a bad choice though, it's not quite as insanely overpriced like the Analogue CMVS.
