I forgot about those and you're right.

If there are any British shops near you, look for the Nestle Milky Bar. So f'n good.

When I want information about a specific system, I like to go to the source. These forums have a ton of knowledge and until these last few posts, helpful people. I've used Turbokon and I support the homebrew scene.

Reading up on the Tobias bs and then your comments about another forum reminded me of what's wrong with the net.

I'm not trying to white knight anything and apologize for derailing the thread and ruffling feathers (that's what Fighting Street is for).

Telling someone to get the fuck out of here is not exactly polite.

The McDonald's fries we got to eat in the 70's. Who knows what the hell they were cooked in, they just tasted so damn good.

Give me a hot tub time machine and let me die from McDonald's fries.

I do hang out there (since '09), here and many forums. When you have social skills you can do that.

Why are you trying to run off new people with a different opinion than yours? Again, you know who you sound like don't you.

As you just proved there are jerks on every forum not just that site.

Did you use the same username there? I'd like to see what you did to be treated so poorly.

Since there are a number of people here who have contributed to the site (not me, I haven't been here long enough ) and are members there, what's that say about this place.

If you want to post individuals who are a$$holes, fine but to say the site is a shit hole is laughable.

fuck that it costs more than 100 real people money.
But, like synbiosfan said, that's like less than the cost of some of the really pricey Saturn games.  Also, sounds pretty equivalent in price to like a flashcart.
True that.

I might wait as being an early adopter feels more like beta testing. Also I will need to find a Saturn in good condition but with a bad laser so I don't feel like I am gutting good hardware.
Right now I don't have a 20 pin with a bad laser so I'm holding off atm.

I do like the idea of having a complete, working backup on hand so if any improvements are made...

A member at NG.com MidnightMonkey has created a detailed guide for installing a RHEA in a Model 1 Saturn (20 pin CD drive).

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?257098-Sega-Saturn-Rhea-Comprehensive-Guide&p=3856147#post3856147

It's a little pricey but so are some of the better games on the Saturn.

MidnightMonkey makes me think I could install one :P

No hairdryer is needed for the installation...

Quote from: synbiosfan on 02/04/2015, 03:35 PMThe Saturn's cart slot is made poorly so this is common.  Not many options,  clean everything and try again repeatedly. There's a multi region bios you can have installed too. Or buy JP Saturn with cart issues.
Tell me more of this multi region bios. Where might I buy one??
Give me a second, walking the dog.

Here's 26 pages on ASSEMbler about it

https://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?33602-Sega-Saturn-Region-Free-BIOS

Some of the guys are  Bad_Ad84, Zer0-2k11, and APE who I'd contact. You might see if any of them are doing a battery mod & modchip while your at it.

APE is in California iirc.

--------------------------------------------------

So besides the poorly made/designed cart slot, the other main gripe about the Saturn is the CR 2032 battery use.

I hate linking to other sites but once again, ASSEMbler has info

https://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?9053-Sega-Saturn-long-life-battery&highlight=sega+saturn+battery+mod

EDIT Looking for the fix guide as the link I posted doesn't have it.

Here's adding sram instead of the battery

http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?34265-Modifying-the-SEGA-SATURN-to-use-standard-SRAM-backup-disable-RTC

Contacting one of the modders there is your best bet as I'm having trouble finding things.

You pop in any region disc (not cd-r) and play. No switches, carts or buttons, just pop in the cd.

Region free period.

If you have a V Saturn or Hi Saturn, you can still have the same start up logo too.

One of the games Venom is referring to is a Ultraman fighter.

You just made me choke up a bit at work.  The cat I grew up with was named Sandy (with a Y though!) and was an orange colored cat that I loved so much.  He lived to be 19 years old until we had to put him down due to a tumor and some other compounding health problems.

This is a bad picture of my cat Winston sleeping with some Sega Controllers in my office.

Winston looks handsome!

Sandie is 15ish and 3 years ago, we found out she has kidney failure. We gave her special food for a year and she ended up refusing to eat it. We started feeding her Whiskas pate (cheap crap) and her numbers have actually improved. The vet was/is pleasantly surprised and credits the environment (us) for her improved quality of life.

We took in a stray pup last summer and his energy level is too much for Sandie right now. She lived with our old dog Boo for 12 years so she checks Ozzy constantly.

Here's a pic from earlier tonight...and yes, the room is a mess

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?254580-PCE-TG-Project-BoostMasta

Quote from: NeoTurfMastaBeen working on this off and on for about a year now and I think its pretty much finished.  Its basically a new TurboBooster + or Tennokoe Bank system for PCE and TG systems.  TurboBoosters and Tennokoe Banks were used as a memory card for games that supported this feature.  High scores, levels, etc were saved.  There is a list of games that support it somewhere.

IMG

The original TB+ and Tennokoe used 2k of battery backed up SRAM.  Similar to Neo, but it required a custom Hudson chip for it to work.  Well, I found a source for these and thought I'd make a new version.  All NOS chips, nothing is sacced to make this project.

Mine has the standard AV out, and it also has the 9pin DIN for RGB out.  This pic doesnt show it, but I wired up broken's RGB amp and wired it to Omega RGB pinout.

It also has 16 separate banks of 2k FRAM, so no battery is needed.  The switch on the side is a 16 position rotary switch.  So that's 16 memory cards in one.

I'll be working with Todd on getting an optional plug in RGB amp for these so those who dont want the standard AV can plug his board in and have it wired for Omega RGB out.  Then you can buy Quan's AV cables.  Simple huh?

Theres a few more tweaks to the PCB, but this is basically what it will look like. Todd is trying to find a source for the connector, but until then I have this weird solution that works well, its just a pain to put together.  I also will probably have a laser cut top and bottom for these at one point as well.

It may not be done this year, but if anything maybe Jan-Feb.  The initial run will probably be around 25, but if there is enough interest I could make more.  Probably a price around $50, that's what I'm hoping for.
Quote from: brokenAs Turf mentioned, I will be redesigned a plug in RGB board for his BoostMasta. Depending on what the final version of his board looks like, I might also incorporate a component video section as well. That way via the 9 pin mini din you can have either RGB or component video using Quan's Omega Scart RGB and Component video cables.

edit: And yes, I am helping him track down a better source for 69 pin connectors. We have found one, but the samples they sent us weren't deep enough to plug into a PCE.

I working on another source for them.
I thought this looks pretty promising 8)

General Gaming / Re: AES or MVS?
10/02/2014, 08:59 PM
Quote from: SuperDeadite on 10/02/2014, 08:31 PMThe problem with a CMVS, is that if you are willing to pay a good chunk of cash, you are far better off buying a nice fully featured supergun, as then you can play other arcade boards.   A dedicated CMVS only plays MVS.  If you have tons of cash to blow go for it, but I feel your typical budget-minded MVS owner can do better.
When I bought my CMVS (MV1B) I was pretty ignorant about superguns and the options available. I don't regret it (and now have a gun) but I should have done more research.

I was just considering the price difference of MVS carts versus home carts. I did save more than enough to cover it's cost.

What are the other cheaper alternatives besides a super gun?
There are reputable modders who do it cheaper. The Omega isn't a bad choice though, it's not quite as insanely overpriced like the Analogue CMVS.
