PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable. |

It also plays real PC Engine CD games. It can use much better controllers than SNES without adaptors or or mods or anything. It comes with us on trips and is convenient and portable. I paid as much as a Super Nt shipped for it several years ago.I was just asking this in the chat, but what kind of controllers/adapters do you use when emulating on a laptop? I'm starting to realize that I won't always be able to carry CRTs with me (have been without one for months now so I haven't played any retro games in awhile) and it would just be more practical for me to move the way of roms on a laptop.
It doesn't get relegated to crts either, but it sure would be nice if it could connect to one.
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 02/21/2018, 11:41 AMMy consoles may stay packed up for months at a time but when I get them out they get played every day for weeks. The older you get the more consoles you accumulate and the less time each one gets in your day to the point where it becomes *extremely* unlikely that all of them will be used in less time than it takes for them to accumulate dust.I've also been finding how completely unnecessary it is to try to have everything hooked up all the time. Pretty soon I'd like to invest in some plastic tubs to store my shit in so that it's safe and relatively easy to access when I do get the itch to play Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch on Sega CD for 20 minutes and then throw back in a box.
Quote from: Psycho Arkhan on 02/15/2018, 12:47 PMThe remade OST is pretty awesome.I mean, couldn't you argue that by not changing all that much it is sort of an unnecessary remake?
I think the best way to describe this is that it looks like an artbook jumped into the game.
The one review is like THEY CHANGED NOTHING IT SUCKS.
Quote from: guest on 02/05/2018, 09:05 PMPlayed some Castlevania Chronicles (X68K mode of course). Challenging but a lot of fun, and the best soundtrack (3 versions no less) in the entire series!!Yeah that soundtrack is soooo damn good, you're making me miss my x68k.
I think I like it more than Super IV but less than Rondo and Bloodlines overall.
Quote from: seieienbu on 02/02/2018, 08:10 PMI went through 3 PS1s and 2 PS2s. Still on my first Xbox 360 and that thing got played more than any Playstation I've ever owned. This may be a dumb tin-foil-hat thoery, but I think a lot of the outrage about Xbone was staged by Gamestop. The motive would obviously be to keep their terrible business model of stupid-pawn-shop to screw people out of money. After that, well, if you yell enough on the internet people will agree with you eventually so people joined in on the fun and suddenly it was super trendy to hate on M$ for all the evils they used to abuse kind hearted gamers.Sony is definitely ahead of Microsoft in the exclusives department unless you're super into Halo and Gears of War. But when it comes to online they're both definitely flawed.
Personally, I hate the PS4. It plays the same games slower than the Xbox, the online infrastructure is worse, and I dislike the interface. Running tournaments on PS4s is a miserable experience. You have to go 3 menus deep to actually delete controllers so that the idiot who played on pad 2 sets ago doesn't fuck up your game when he sits down with his wireless controller in his pocket. PS4 got Street Fighter V and Shenmue 3 though, so I had to go Sony for the exclusives.
Quote from: exodus on 01/31/2018, 09:15 PMI love how this dumb thing looks! I wish I could justify itDumb as in the most badass fucking PCE setup one could possibly have???
Quote from: guest on 01/18/2018, 12:13 AMYeah I think I may just restart the game and play it all over again to try to get some better powerups. It'll be a good in between game.Quote from: Mathius on 08/29/2017, 10:53 PMSame to me waaaay back with the PC version. That final boss is a bitch. Difficulty-wise, it is out of place compared to the rest of the game, which is why it harms the overall experience.Quote from: guest on 08/29/2017, 08:36 PMCave Story was really great on the Switch. So many choices for soundtracks and it controlled really well. Plus it's getting (or already has gotten) updates for 2p mode and a few other things. Though, I'm still stuck on the final boss.I've been stuck on the final boss in the original Cave Story on my Wii for nearly eight years! He's a bastard and the devs should've dialed the difficulty back on him some.
I also played the alternate route (where you do not pick up a certain item, to alter the story), still no luck.
Quote from: bartre on 12/27/2017, 06:09 PMYeah for Cave Story I really want to go back because it was the first game I got with my Switch and I was really loving everything about it. From the cool music and atmosphere to a game that controlled well and was fun to play. THen I hit a wall with that final boss rush and backed off. I'll go back.Quote from: guest on 12/27/2017, 05:49 PM1. Well the end boss where you have to fight 3 different bosses in a row with no health at all. The second is the doctor and he suxx1 - which boss is giving you the most trouble and what weapons do you have?
4. BotW is more than just GTA Hyrule in that GTA is more limiting than BotW. OoT shows its age and as someone who has no nostalgia for it, it's a bit hard to grasp currently. I usually prefer 2D Zelda games. LttP being my favorite and LBW was a ton of fun, and the original is great.
6. I would use the short hand weapon? THe axe thing. No fucking clue, I may need to start over if I ever try again, I ran out of blood vials.
Misery isn't too bad once you get the hang of dodging her quick shot attack. I recommend standing still and then jetpacking away after it gets close.
Doctor #1 - the double helix attack always threw me off, just gotta practice and learn where the holes are.
Doctor #2 - just keep as much distance between you two and you'll be fine.
Doctor #3 - Don't kill misery unless you have to. you can kill her summoned thingies for health.
also, after the 2nd form, you can talk to the purple mimiga twice and they'll all drop some health for you
4 - I'll admit I'm biased in that I hate botw. I found it almost as offputting as Skyward Sword, but I could at least tell that had some good ideas in it. Also, I know Zelda titles are primarily adventure games, but with every item breaking like it does, that really deincentivizes combat, to the point that I'd rather run than fight, which doesn't seem heroic really...
also, why does every game need crafting? it just bugs me.
6 - I feel that. but keep at it, ASCEND.
I liked the Kirkhammer (the sword with a sheathe that turned it into a hammer) and the Rifle Spear.
and don't forget, Bloodborne is kinda designed to be played more aggressively than DS
Quote from: bartre on 12/27/2017, 03:10 PM1. Well the end boss where you have to fight 3 different bosses in a row with no health at all. The second is the doctor and he suxxQuote from: guest on 12/27/2017, 02:43 PM1. Cave Story (Switch) - Stuck on the end boss.
4. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (3DS) - Got caught up playing FFVII instead, I'll go back and finally beat this eventually. But in a year where a stellar open world Zelda game came out, this took a back seat.
6. Bloodborne (PS4) - I'm not sure I will ever beat it.
1 - which "end boss?" the real end boss or just the doctor? what weapons do you have?
4 - you passed up OoT for GTA Hyrule? I'm so disappointed tucc.
to be fair though, Majora is better.
6 - what weapon are you using? that dictates sooooooooo much of your playstyle.
Quote from: Gredler on 12/07/2017, 06:36 PMWho's taking alzadick, next?I want to buy an SNES classic. Oops.
Quote from: guest on 10/31/2017, 11:04 AMAlso started Mario Odyssey, I "beat" New Donk City so far. Pretty fantastic and inventive game, I really love how intuitive the transformations are and the perfect blend of tight platforming and solid exploration. The game doesn't have any moments of tedium like Breath of the Wild did.Well if you try to go for the true true ending of 500 moons it gets a bit tedious to run a fine comb through each level to scour for moons, but it's not as bad as BotW since you mentioned it. It honestly adds a good bit to the challenge of really trying to work through previous levels in newer ways.
Quote from: Gredler on 12/05/2017, 03:04 PMIs that easy to do? I played through all of FFVII on the Vita and that worked out really well. And I bought the PS1 version of FF VI because it was on sale and thought it might be cool to go back and forth.Quote from: Psycho Arkhan on 12/05/2017, 02:33 PMGo play it.BTW, PS3 = the best PS1 ever. I love being able to transfer saves between vita and the PS3, and play on any TV in my house from the CRT, to the 1080p Plasma, to the 4k LED.
Quote from: seieienbu on 12/01/2017, 07:57 PMAnd Flynn pleads guilty to two counts of lying to the FBI. Maybe I'm a tin-foil hat wearing lunatic, but I wonder what they actually have on him to make him plead guilty to anything...No tin foil hat needed for this one at all. This shit seems pretty apparent.
Quote from: PunkCryborg on 11/29/2017, 07:41 AMThanks TR0N!Damn instagram that shit!
Quote from: Gypsy on 11/30/2017, 10:37 AMThank you so much jtucci. I know, I ignored your request to not open until Christmas. I got too excited when I saw the package shape, and I want to watch the movie tonight. And yes, you got the right movie thanks again.Haha damn I would scold you a little for being so impatient, but it seemed like you've had a rough couple of months, so I hope you enjoyed it! Glad I got the right thing. Hope you have a good Christmas in a month
Received: Lupin the 3rd Fuma Conspiracy LD and The New Zealand Story hucard + manual.
Never played this game before so I'll be sure to give it a go. It looks cute and fun. <3
Quote from: Gypsy on 11/12/2017, 07:47 AMIf you're on the fence about taking leave I would maybe say you should. Don't feel like you need to get over this faster than you should. Properly dealing with this is really important.Quote from: TR0N on 11/11/2017, 04:30 AMYou have my condolence man.Had my lost last year after my mother passed away and a uncle as well. Most you can do is keep busy if possible and surround yourself with friends and family.Other then, take you're time in coping and i wouldn't worry about posting here much if i were you.Yeah, spent a lot of time with my brothers this weekend. Debating if I want to take some bereavement leave or not.
Thanks to all posting nice things again.

I just want to cuddle. Netflix and chill?
EDIT: wait... What if this is Mike himself? My money is on that.
Quote from: bartre on 10/24/2017, 03:46 PMI hate Shadow of the Colossus. What a shame. Why is that? THe controls?
I've said it elsewhere, but I hate it enough that it bears repeating
Quote from: NightWolve on 10/23/2017, 02:47 PMBoth amazing games, epic final battle in Shadow of the Colossus, loved every bit of it, Sony gave the PS2 a great send off with it. I didn't know they were being remade, but they deserve it!So far they've only announced that they're remaking Shadow of the Colossus, not Ico.
Quote from: crazydean on 10/23/2017, 06:11 AMThe Ico and Shadow of Colossus collection for PS3 looks pretty great. No complaints there.I love those too, that's how I first played both of those games and they hold up so well.
Quote from: Gredler on 10/19/2017, 06:12 PMI've been playing Golf Story on my switch a lot, and have really been enjoying it. Highly recommended if you have any passing interest in golf games and quirky rpg style storiesI've been playing that too! It's my in-between game before Mario Odyssey. I'm liking it so far! The story aspect is ok, but I just really mainly love golfing and doing fun golf related requests for people.
Quote from: Gypsy on 10/18/2017, 08:06 PMI actually downloaded the first one for free off PSN because it was a PS+ game, but still figured 4 would be a good starting point.Quote from: guest on 10/18/2017, 01:42 PMFinally beat Sonic Mania on my lunch break. It felt maddeningly stupid for my first 5 tries, but after...Nice.
RE4 is definitely worth playing, though a big departure from previous games in the series.
