I could never do that, and believe me I've tried. 1,000,000 is about my best.

(And +1 to you. She looks nice. )

Lol Thanks fellas !! Seriously it usually takes her an hour plus to get almost that close score wise, but she was on a roll hitting huge bonus points. There are quite a bit of tricks that can be done during game play to rack up the points, she's discovered some great ones. All in all it only took her around 45 minutes or so to get that top score. Her Top high score record and also her fastest record time wise on reaching a top high score like that. Lol And yep I'm pretty lucky having that hottie in my life, this New Years will be our official 9 years of being together.

Well boys as you all are aware my lady has been holding her old top score for a few years now, happy to inform you all that tonight she absolutely crushed her last high score !! Soo Incredibly proud of my Lady Bird tonight !!!

Quote from: SuperDeadite on 04/03/2017, 10:19 AMFound some good pics.  I did mine the same, except I found tapping SYNC here weakened the signal too much and it gave me issues when playing my LD games.  So instead I just plug my sync line directly into the composite RCA jack.  I did mine the lazy way, I just fed the wires out the back through one of the holes the RGB board clips on to, and my amp is external.

Oh and dude, thank you soo much for the link to your work !! This will definitely come in handy when performing this mod on mine !!

Thanks for all the input fellas !! Not giving up on this beast of a woman lol .. The dream is still alive !!

Quote from: SuperDeadite on 04/03/2017, 10:08 AMOh wow that sounds soo freaking straight forward !! Looking forward to giving it a go later on this evening !! Thank you soo much for clarifying that for me !! Super useful info !!
Can't find a good pic right now, but it's rather easy.  The RGB board in the machine is clearly labeled, just flip it over and solder to the ribbon cable pins.  For sync I just use the extra composite jack.  5v is all over the place.

Quote from: SuperDeadite on 04/03/2017, 06:23 AMFor a serious answer, most of us here have already RGB modded our LA units.  It's really quite easy, and works for all games except the actual LD games.  Once you do this, the LA is actually a very capable jack-of-all-trades.  Being a front-loader, you can stack stuff on it and it plays a tremendous amount of games with just one single power cable.  The LD games are just icing on the cake really.

Now this is some very great news to find waiting on me this morning !! This mod would be absolutely ideal for me. Any write ups or links to any how to to's on this RGB mod ?? Thanks brother for sharing this info !!

Quote from: Nec.Game.head on 04/02/2017, 12:34 AMLol That's pretty rad !! Hadn't seen this in some years now. Jeremy Klein the voice on the video is a former pro skateboarder and bro of mine. He at the time of this video was riding for Tony Hawk's company called Birdhouse. He also worked for TTI. I had him sign my copy of Lords Of Thunder and thought I was crazy for having him sign it. Lol I laughed and told him whatever dude just sign the damn thing !! I see him ever so often and if anyone would like some more info on this I could gladly bug him a bit more about it.

Tell him the guy from Duo Dimensions says hello...
Most definitely will do guy from Duo Dimensions !! I should be seeing him again soon enough bro ...

Lol Very nice fellas !! After a bit more game play on it and some special alone time with it also I've have decided that I do in fact like the LaserActive. It's definitely a rad unique system to own. Lol My favorite part about it is the leaky electrolytic fluid from the PAC's, it rubs on really well and tickles the pickle like no other cap fluid I have ever tried before !! Oh and the PCE Engine PAC is also pretty kick ass !!
#10
Soo what's the current top high score at this point? Dose my lady bird need to set another top first place high score yet? She'll be super stoked to see this is still going on !!
#11
Pretty happy as I just this past weekend finally locked down getting a US Pioneer LaserActive, it's fully restored, new band alignment and most importantly both PCE and Genesis PAC's are fully re capped. She's running great and I'm totally enjoying my LaserActive PCE experience !! Lol now what ?? The damn thing as most of you already know only displays in Composite video !! I play it on my Sony PVM 2950Q so it looks decent enough but unfortunately I have far evolved into a total image quality snob !! Maybe I should just toss this old fat bulky girl off of my balcony to her death and just call it a rap for now !! loL hahaha !! Fuck it i guess I'll just keep her on the sidelines like a fat chick that gives the best BJ's but you'll be damned if you ever let your close friends see you enjoying some quality time with her !!

I'd like to submit Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition. It's a classic and IMO it kicks the crap out of it's rival 16bit versions !!
#17
Wow I'm definitely gonna need some of these for future projects !! Fantastic little Sync cleaners !!
#18
10 dolla make you holla !! Fantastic deal !!
#19
A bit steep in price IMO, $100.00 ok price $130.00 highest price if you absolutely have to have a US Duo. Condition of it cosmetically obviously would have to be great for the price i just mentioned above. Just my two cents on the matter, to each his own at the end of the day ..

Sounds great, I'll be definitely doing my best to land a good day so that everyone on here that would like to attend can make it. Looking forward to making this happen as I would really love to see a So Cal community start building up as a result of stuff like this.
You're also on the Neo-geo for life page, right? Unless I have you confused with someone else...
Yep indeed the person that your thinking of is in fact me !! Sweet well i'll be updating this thread as the time comes closer to the meet. No set date yet. Need to contact the So Cal guys that are up for it first. So far there are 6 of us in the LA area that are up for it.

Well the new year is officially here. This is the month I'm aiming for. Don't think that their is many members in the So Cal Los Angeles area. I guess I'll keep updating this meet up thread for a few more weeks. So far their are 3 members from here that are up for it. lol hoping to get to make this happen and show off my Frijole grilling skills !!

Heat 'em up on the grill in the can, but make sure you open the can first.

Nobody likes bean grenades.
Lol No worries fellas, I'm a master in the frijole cooking arts !!

Planning on attempting to host a meet up sometime next month at my place in Downey CA which is located in SE Los Angeles county. This will all depend on if their is even enough interest for it on here. I have no idea how many members from here are even in or around the So Cal LA area. I typically host retro console gaming/Arcade meets once monthly and  the average number of attendees is over 30. This time my plan is to base it strictly around the TG16 and PC Engine hardware. Here is a list of my current Obey hardware and monitors. If any interest for it please let me know.

3X 29" Sony PVM's
3X 20" Sony BVM's
9X 19" Sony  PVM's
1X Neo Geo 50" candy cab running a Duo-r
3X region free RGB modded Duo-r's
4 stock Turbo Duo's
1 region free TG16 CD
2X stock Turbo Expresses for 2 player link up.
30 plus TG16/PC Engine games
1 Everdrive

Oh and not to forget a Mexican style BBQ during the meet !! Hehehe lot's of carne asada tacos, beans, corn, Spanish rice and all the rest of the traditional goodies to enjoy !!

Lol And you know this man !! You've got the eagles eye for spotting out the your ol girl !! She's been fully overhauled since I got her from you a few years back. Replaced the old laser, RGB 5volt amp added, new mod chip installed, and I added a green LED light to the power switch and I also replaced the standard red LED on the CD reading light with a 4 color cycling LED. Loving every minute of owning her !! Thanks once again !!

Quote from: Nec.Game.head on 12/23/2014, 11:26 AMccovell so far I have no had any issues regarding the Duo-R skipping. My plan is to have it inside of the cab once I make the Jamma edge connector for it. If I do at some point end up with any skipping I'll just have it setup on the side of the cab. Hopefully I won't have any issues with that at any point.

esteban Lol dude I wish I was in your area or vice versa !! We would definitely be having some awesome Obey sessions !! Still residing in wonderful Downey CA.

Necromancer Yeah I totally understand the whole LCD screen and retro gaming thing. I typically only run my consoles on RGB monitors, lol but I just couldn't help myself !! Had to try out on the Ol Duo-R on my Neo 50. Hopefully when I score on another XRGB the overall image quality will be a bit more acceptable. As I have busted some balls for doing this kind of thing in the past. I switched up the monitor type on the cab as the original 50" rear projection screen CRT is in a massive wooden enclosure !! This method gave me back tons of space and also allows for me to run my Naiomi Arcade hardware on it. Had to compromise a bit on this project to make it work a bit more universal with different types of hardware.

Thanks guys for the input !! Keep em coming !!
DOWNEY!

I think I already told you (or someone), but I lived in LAKEWOOD, CA a decade ago!!!!!!!

Lakewood, right where Bellflower and 91 cross each other.

Crazy.

Just thought I'd share this little project that I'm working on. I pad hacked 2 PC Engine controllers, wired them up to my Neo Geo 50's control panel and I'm using a RGB Scart to Component converter to display the image on my 42" LCD monitor. Just like that I'm able to play my Duo-R off of the Neo 50's control panel. My plan is to buy another XRGB as I got rid of my old one to interface it with my 42" LCD screen and be able to emulate scanlines on it for a much more authentic look. And I also will be ordering a Jamma fingerboard to solder my pad hacked controllers to and be able to connect it directly to my Neo 50's Jamma edge connector. I love playing my Duo-R on my Sony BVM's but their is something about playing it off of a Candy cab that makes it feel that much better !! Here is a pic of it as is so far. What do you guys think of my idea ??

This game is true Ninja action !!
#43
My first all nighter was at age 12 in September of 1992 the game I played all night was Mortal Kombat for the Sega Genesis with my older brother Luis. He had bought the game to play it at his girlfriends house and one night he brought it home randomly to have me play it with him. I had a Game Pro magazine that had the fatality's blood code. It was really fun playing it at first but after beating his ass at it multiple times he got pissed off and would not let me stop playing him until he honestly defeated him. We played from 11pm to around 5am the following day. This may I ad was on a school night to top it off, as tired as I was he would bully me and threaten to never bring the game home again if I didn't keep playing him. A memory to this day that I bring up to him during family gatherings. Lol I love my brother as he was always into hardcore gaming when I was a kid but unfortunately he was an even bigger dickhead that would always have the last say in any matter while gaming. I can honestly sit back laugh and smile typing up this old memory as it was truly an epic all nighter being able to play the controversial Mortal Kombat with my brother Luis !!

Quote from: NightWolve on 09/03/2014, 04:26 AMIf neither outer leg on the regulators showed any power (one would be 9-10+V, the other the regulated 5V) then your problem is further back. Good deal if you get this up and running and I should think so!

If there is 9 VDC before the fuse, but not after, then you've figured out your problem right there regardless of how it looks... Kind of a no brainer to replace that before doing something more difficult like replacing a possibly burned out regulator...
Well I went ahead and replaced the 3 amp fuse, tested it out with my multimeter and nothing no voltage passing through. I suppose the next thing to try out is replacing both 5 volt 7805 voltage regulators and see what happens then. If anyone else has any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Yep I tested out the fuse for continuity there is none. Gonna go buy a replacement later on today. Hopefully it'll be as simple as that. Excited to get this Duo back up and running properly !!
#50
Sweet tested out both 7805 voltage regulators on both out and ins, no power. Will go ahead and replace the fuse first and see if that is my issue to start off with. The reason I asked about the fuse was because I did some research and found a dude on Youtube that seemed to have the same problem as I do. He replaced the fuse first that was not passing power through and got no results from it. He never did put out a second video to show if he did in fact ever fix his Duo. Messaged him and haven't heard back from him either. Thanks I will go ahead and give it a shot to today.
