@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Pretty happy as I just this past weekend finally locked down getting a US Pioneer LaserActive, it's fully restored, new band alignment and most importantly both PCE and Genesis PAC's are fully re capped. She's running great and I'm totally enjoying my LaserActive PCE experience !! Lol now what ?? The damn thing as most of you already know only displays in Composite video !! I play it on my Sony PVM 2950Q so it looks decent enough but unfortunately I have far evolved into a total image quality snob !! Maybe I should just toss this old fat bulky girl off of my balcony to her death and just call it a rap for now !! loL hahaha !! Fuck it i guess I'll just keep her on the sidelines like a fat chick that gives the best BJ's but you'll be damned if you ever let your close friends see you enjoying some quality time with her !!

Planning on attempting to host a meet up sometime next month at my place in Downey CA which is located in SE Los Angeles county. This will all depend on if their is even enough interest for it on here. I have no idea how many members from here are even in or around the So Cal LA area. I typically host retro console gaming/Arcade meets once monthly and  the average number of attendees is over 30. This time my plan is to base it strictly around the TG16 and PC Engine hardware. Here is a list of my current Obey hardware and monitors. If any interest for it please let me know.

3X 29" Sony PVM's
3X 20" Sony BVM's
9X 19" Sony  PVM's
1X Neo Geo 50" candy cab running a Duo-r
3X region free RGB modded Duo-r's
4 stock Turbo Duo's
1 region free TG16 CD
2X stock Turbo Expresses for 2 player link up.
30 plus TG16/PC Engine games
1 Everdrive

Oh and not to forget a Mexican style BBQ during the meet !! Hehehe lot's of carne asada tacos, beans, corn, Spanish rice and all the rest of the traditional goodies to enjoy !!

Just thought I'd share this little project that I'm working on. I pad hacked 2 PC Engine controllers, wired them up to my Neo Geo 50's control panel and I'm using a RGB Scart to Component converter to display the image on my 42" LCD monitor. Just like that I'm able to play my Duo-R off of the Neo 50's control panel. My plan is to buy another XRGB as I got rid of my old one to interface it with my 42" LCD screen and be able to emulate scanlines on it for a much more authentic look. And I also will be ordering a Jamma fingerboard to solder my pad hacked controllers to and be able to connect it directly to my Neo 50's Jamma edge connector. I love playing my Duo-R on my Sony BVM's but their is something about playing it off of a Candy cab that makes it feel that much better !! Here is a pic of it as is so far. What do you guys think of my idea ??

I just recently scored on my very first US Turbo Duo in non working order. The previous owner told me it was already experiencing audio issues as a result of the old bad capacitors still being in the system. Besides that it work just fine. He that said he stored it away for a month or so and just recently when he decided to power it on to play some Bonks Adventure it did not work anymore. He passed it on as a gift to me with the agreement that I would do my absolute very best to get back up and running.

Here is what I have tried out so far. With my multimeter I tested out the AC adapter jack and it's receiving the 9 volts that the AC outputs. I tested out where the power cable connects from the AC power board to the motherboard and that checks out fine. I tested out what looks like a black fuse or something and that's passing the 9 volts. I tested out the fuse which physically looks fine and that dose not show a reading on my multimeter. I also tested out both of the 5 volt 7805 voltage regulators and they also do not show any readings on my multimeter. Not sure where to go from here. Should I replace the fuse that dose not look blown out or should I replace both of the 5 volt 7805 voltage regulators ?? Once I get her powered on the next thing will be recapping the motherboard.

I within the past few months obtained my very first briefcase setup, about a week ago I decided to played some Rondo Of Blood on it. I went ahead and saved and ended game after I was done passing a few levels, yesterday I decided to continue my game and I had no save file for the game. I then went ahead and started the system with no CD in the drive and pressed select to check for any saved data, to my surprise there were no save files whatsoever. So I went ahead and tried playing Rondo again, saved my game powered off the system and turned it back on loaded the game file and it was fine. I went ahead and disconnected the AC adapter from the system waited 15 minutes plugged it back in, tested it out and no more save file for Rondo Of Blood. I'm not clear on this but the briefcase setup can save and store game files right ?? Or is my IFU docking station having problems with storing save files ??

Here's a little project I've been working on lately. Iv'e wired up one of my spare old Dynamo cabs so that I can play my Duo-r through it. At the moment I'm using a VGA 19 inch lcd monitor to display my image through crappy composite video, both joysticks are wired up so that they both are able to use PS to PCE adapters for the controls. What I'm looking to do is upgrade the monitor with one of my spare 19 inch Sony PVM monitors. My Duo-r is RGB modded so I figure this approach would give me the best video quality results possible. The tricky part will be fabricating a bracket of some sort to hold the monitors chassis in place after I completely take it apart and mount it on my cab. I was also thinking of maybe using a RGB to VGA adapter if the PVM idea became to much of a pain to figure out. I can't wait to complete my project as I am totally looking forward to playing all my shmup PCE and TG16 games on it !!

Last night I just found something out that may help some of you guys that are having this issue. Iv'e had this Duo-R going on 2 years now and since I received it I have been having issues with it loosing the music on my CD games randomly. I replaced the laser at first hoping it would solve my problem and it didn't even after fine tuning pots 102 and 105. I even sent it out to one of the techs here, It was sent back to me with the understanding that it was fixed now and to my surprise it continued with the same problem. I was at my wits end and decided to contact a friend of mine in Japan to ask him for some suggestions on what to try out next. He mentioned to me that adding some fresh new white lithium grease to the Laser assembly gears and rails may help. I told him that's the first thing i do to all of my CD based consoles. So he suggested add a bit more to the rails as some times they catch minor hangups for a split second and will loose the games music. So I tried just that and it made it far worst. I took the laser assembly completely apart, slid the rails through the Lasers guide holes and noticed really bad sticky drag while doing that. I cleaned off the rails completely reassembled everything tested it out and just like that problem solved. Iv'e been playing all of my CD games with absolutely no problems no whatsoever !! Very strange as my 2 other Duo's were the complete opposite where if they don't have enough white lithium grease they will have issues reading disc properly. So this is one more thing you guy's can add to your list of trial and error problem solving if you are encountering this issue with your Duo's.

So I have a CD unit for my TG16 that continues giving me troubles. I took apart the CD player cleaned off all the old dried lithium grease from the gears and laser rail, re applied a very little amount of new lithium grease and it worked fine for a day. The following day I turned on my setup to play a game and it was stuck again, so I once again re opened it and to my surprise the gear was stuck. I then cleaned off any excess grease checked all 3 gears for any missing teeth and everything looked fine. I powered it back on and it was fine for a full day once again. Today I went to play it and sure enough stuck gear once again. Any idea gentlemen on what can be causing this to keep happening ???

Hey everyone, I'm raffling off these extra loose Hu cards that I recently replaced. They all work perfectly fine besides them having a little clear build up on them from a booklet I had them in. Rules are if you already have most of these please do not enter, honor system guys. You must have at least a post count of 310 on here. I'm hoping to get at least 20 people to enter before I raffle them off. I will pay for shipping if you are a resident of the US only ... Thanks guys

I'm curious to find out if anyone on here has any experience with playing Populous ?? I started going through the tutorial which is all in English so I imagine it's playable without having to know how to read Japanese. My question is to anyone that's played this before is it worth playing ?? Looks fairly interesting so I'm willing to give it a go if it's worth the try ...

So just the other day I came across a good deal on some TG16 games that I needed to replace with the exception that the genius that sold them to me decided it would be smart to spray paint all around the cases and wright the titles on them with a sharpie marker. LOL WTF ??? I asked him what was the point of this and he quickly replied It's so that when I have them stacked with all my other CD games I can easily identify them. Wow to say the least I had to low ball the hell out of him for those Huey's and bring them to a better place which they so desperately needed at this point !! Do any of you guys have any story's regarding this kind of Obey abuse ???

Hey guys, I figured Id share some of what I've been up to today until my Duo-R returns back to me from having some fine tuning done to it. I have an old Dynamo cab I gutted out 10 years ago and re wired it up myself to be compatible with pretty much any console that supports component and VGA signals. Lol having some Obey withdraws so I wired it up today in order for it to run my modded original Xbox that I soft modded back in 03. It seems to be running all my Obey CD games flawlessly through it's PCE emulator !! The video quality can definitely have some more fine tuning done to it but so far so good. I'm planning out a full restoration soon on that cab as it's been the most universal Arcade machine I've own to date. In the near future it will be also running my actual original Obey hardware on it once I component mod one of my consoles ...

Hey everyone so I'm sharing this little information for anyone that is looking to store their loose HU Cards or have them in a convenient storage space. I recently discovered that using credit card holders to store your HU Cards can cause permanent damage to them. I've been using this form myself to store some of my games and recently discovered a clear sticky film on them from the plastic on the holders. At first I noticed they were kinda sticking in the little separate compartments of the holder but didn't think much of it. I just the other day took out a few cards to play on my TG16 and to my surprise I noticed they were in bad shape! I tried several forms of cleaning off the residue with methods of safe cleaning which I have performed for many years now and I had nothing but upsetting results. I'm not too sure but it almost seems as if their is a chemical reaction happening with the clear coat on the HU Cards and the plastic from the holders. When trying to rub off the residue it takes everything including the print on the Hueys right off. I now have about 15 non rare easily replaceable Hu Cards that are permanently ruined. A fair warning to anyone considering this form of storing their precious Hu Card games !!

I just yesterday received my Duo R with a RGB amp installed in it. The mod seems to be working perfectly fine except now I keep loosing the music on all my CD games. I also tried playing some regular audio CD's to test out the laser and when I press start the songs automatically start to skip forward. The laser had been reading discs perfectly fine until now. I'm not sure on where to start in order to fix this problem. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recently completed putting together my very first TG16 CD. I opened up the CD unit cleaned up all the old dried up lithium grease on all the gears that had some on them, checked the gears to make sure none were damaged and re greased the gears with fresh lithium grease. I closed her up and tested out the unit with several original CD and SCD games and they all seem to work just fine. It will skip if I bump the CD unit lightly though. And I don't know if that's normal and if I try playing my Rondo Of Blood CDR with the English patch It will not read it most of the time. And If it does it will loose it's audio for the music tracks while playing the game. My question is if I were to want to adjust the the pots for the Laser's intensity in order for it to read my backup ISO's which one should I start with first? I only have 3 CDR backup games and It would be great if I could play them on my TG16 CD as they do work perfectly on my Duo-R.

This mission of mine dates back to early 2000 when a friend of mine was cool enough to give me his older brothers TG16 that had moved out years back. I received it with a few Hu cards. A year later a different friend of mine gave me a TG16 CD player only. At that point I was using TZD to order games. I shortly after that moved out of my parents house to pursue my skateboarding career.  The next 3 years I didn't do much gaming besides purchasing my first Neo Geo Aes on ebay. Lol that dream ended quickly when I found out how expensive the games I wanted were even then. So I went back to playing my TG16 and keeping the CD player away in a safe place. I played my TG16 for a few more months then stored it away for the next 8 years. In that time frame I slowly got back into gaming and mostly collecting anything and everything retro from the early 90's which was my early teen years. In early 2012 I decided to pick up a bunch of retro consoles from my parents storage and found my TG16 the CD player a bunch of Hu card games and 2 TG16 Expresses I had obtained randomly over the years but did not even bother playing at the time. For some reason I was more excited about powering on the TG16 then ever and it all began again from that point. I found this site and it was on! I shortly found a TG16 CD docking bay on ebay for 50 bucks, asked a few question's on here about it and decided to find a Duo-R before trying to complete putting together my TG16 setup. Since then I have acquired a minty complete TG16 CD clam shell for 40 bucks and just over this past weekend a System Card 2.0 . It's finally complete! I about a year ago opened up the CD unit cleaned it out and re greased the CD rail with fresh lithium grease. When I tested it out with a CD game it seemed to play the audio tracks just fine. I powered it on Sunday night and it works just fine beside it loosing the games music at random times. I'm so excited even more so then when i scored on a fully modded Duo-R or the JP Duo that I purchased and soon resold. I have a TG16 Hu Card converter and I'm thinking about just leaving it stock and just obtaining a Arcade Card Pro to play all my SCD games on it. This is the system for me as it seems to bring me back so many great memories of all I have been through in the past 13 years of my life. All I need to do now is have it fully serviced and tuned nicely for it to be my ultimate TG16 dream machine.

Hey everyone I just the other day purchased a Neo Geo Big Red cabinet with a 4 slot motherboard and it came with 8 cartridges .. Metal Sulg 1,X,3,4, Last Resort, Samurai Showdown, Puzzle Bobble, and a 300 in 1 cart called Transformers Ultimate Edition 2011 .. I only paid 300 dollars for everything .. The cab is nearly in perfect cosmetic shape and everything works perfectly except the 300 in 1 cart .. That thing blows it has no 4th button support and it comes with a bunch of 2d fighters that are 4 and 6 button games .. And to top it off it's incredibly glitchy .. I do like the idea of an all in 1 cart but it obviously has to work .. Do any of you guys know if the Multigame 161 in 1 cart works well ??? I'm thinking about purchasing one soon ..

I just in the past few days scored on a Sega cd model 2 that is in full working order .. I burned some iso's of games that I figured I try out first before hunting them down for a good price .. I found out Lords Of Thunder was released for it and myself being such a fan boy of that game had to download it and test it out .. Holly F that game is soo horrible compared to the original !! At first I thought hmm the audio is kinda decent in the opening scene, then I got into the game play and that also is totally F .. The character you play with moves soo slow and his movements are not smooth at all .. Their are few things that seemed kinda appealing while trying it out like some of the color in the levels details and the fact you now have a voice over when powering up your character but that's pretty much it .. So far the 3 games I tried out have horrible slowdown at times when the screen gets full of stuff happening all at once .. I'm gonna really try to give this Sega cd thing an honest chance .. Do any of you know of some games that are a must play for this funky console ??

So I'm buying a Core Grafx II for a really good price but it's not coming with an ac adapter .. My question is what would be a cheaper alternative to purchasing an original Core Grafx II ac adapter ?? Are there any retro consoles that have a compatible ac adapter ?? I'm hoping to just be able to head over to my local used game store and purchase one for cheap ..

Hey everyone so I just replaced the laser on my Duo-R because it was giving me lots of problems with the audio on my games .. It would randomly stop playing the audio on the games .. Before I replaced it I cleaned the cd lens and the complete laser assembly and re greased it and it worked fine for a few weeks .. But in the past 2 weeks it started giving me problems again with the audio .. So I just ordered a new Hop-M3 laser .. I installed it a few hours ago and it reads my original disc just fine now with no audio problems, but it will give me a set disk read error now for my 2 cdr's which never had any problems before .. I figured it might just be the laser or the pots on the mother board that might need some adjusting .. I just have no clue on where to begin with the adjustments .. I really need my beloved Duo-R to read cdr's again so that I can continue to play Kaze Kiri and finally complete Castlevania Rondo Of Blood 100 percent, the patched english text version ..

Posting this up because I'm actually really curious to find out if their are any other members on here that ride a sk8board .. I've been sk8boarding since 86' .. My older brothers were into skateboarding and of course I had to follow as a little 6 year old dude in their foot steps .. I actively still sk8board and ride for a small time sk8board company called Sensitive skateboards .. Sk8boarding had been my one and only passion until around 99' when I started to get into gaming and collecting .. After I had a taste of how awesome it felt to have some of the older game consoles from the past and share them with friends I got hooked! Street fighter 2 was what really got me into collecting at first, I started looking for all the console ported versions of it and would have some really competitive battles with my friends after a long day of sk8boarding and being filmed .. Smoking fat blunts, pounding 40's of Mickeys and playing some 2d fighters with friends quickly became a everyday ritual after that .. lol what can I say now that I think about it at age 33 I guess I was just a typical kid from the suburbs of SE Los Angeles ..

Over the past 10 years a lot has change in my personal life because of the freedom I was able to have being a paid sk8boarder .. I slowly started to seek out other gamers that were a little more into collecting games and consoles and were not into partying like I was .. It's been really rough at times becoming close friends with other gaming nerds because of our obvious lifestyle differences .. It's been pretty rad in the past 4 years though, I slowly became the gamer sk8 dude with all the consoles at home that welcomes his family and friends over to enjoy some retro gaming, home cooked meals and a great peaceful vibe once you enter into my otaku life!

Does anyone have a used copy of Lords Of Thunder that they would like to sell me ???
#39
Hey everyone .. I just recently got my first Duo-R and it's giving me issues with the sound tracks on my cd games .. I only get sound affects on them .. All my Hu cards play perfectly fine on it .. I have 2 backup games and 1 original I just purchased yesterday .. I tried out the 2 backup games first on my Duo-R when I received it a few weeks back .. Lords Of Thunder seemed to work kinda ok .. At times it will loose the music sound tracks on the game but not to often .. The second backup game is Bonk's 3 and that game definitely looses it's music sound tracks way more often then Lords Of Thunder .. Ive only played them a handful of times on my Duo-R because I'm kinda of a noob when it comes to burning the proper backups, strictly for testing .. I thought at fist maybe I'm loosing my sound tracks on my games because their crappy backups I burned .. So I stopped using them, but then I finally had the chance to purchase an original Tg16 cd game, Shadow Of The beast and that game also looses it's sound tracks right away every time I play it .. I'm not sure what to think at this point ?? Shadow Of The Beast has very lite signs of scratches on it .. Any thoughts on what may be wrong with my Duo-R :-k ???

Hey guys ... I just ordered  a 12 foot long controller extension for my Duo-R from retrogamecave .. I was wondering if once I buy a DuoTap and a second 12 ft extension for my 2 player mode battles, will I get any kind of lag on the controllers response ?? I'm getting such long extensions because I'm playing my Duo-R in my living room that is 12ft wide by 16ft in length, and I'm using a projector to display the image 141 inches on my wall .. At this point I'm playing approximately 7ft away from the screen and it does not work well at all .. It really messes up your overall view of the game that you are playing .. So my plan is to play 14ft away to have a perfect clear image of my giant screen, and not to break my neck while playing my Duo-R .. I took a picture from where I'll be playing with my buddies once I complete my controllers setup .. My buddy Jeff is sitting where we have to play at this point .. It really dose kill the joy out of playing on such a large screen when your that close to it .. lol achieving Pce bliss one day at a time  !!!

Hey guys ... I was thinking of buying an Acade Card PRO now that I have a Duo-R .. I am really interested in finding out if the Neo Geo 2d fighter ports are any good ?? Do they compare to the other consoles ports or are they better ?? I'm also a Neo Geo fan, but I don't really feel a need to dish out a bunch of money just to play those particular games on my Aes .. I'm trying to stay primarily focused on my Pce and not so much on all the other consoles that I'm into playing also ..

Just wondering If you guys can tell me what a sealed copy of Us Lords Of thunder is really worth ?? A local shop were I live has one for $100.00 dollars ..

Hey everyone .. So yesterday I received my very first Turbo Duo-R .. I tested it out with some Hu card games and a few Cd games, it all seemed to work fine .. I opened it because I heard a rattling sound from the inside of the Duo-R .. It was a small plastic pin that had broke off from the cd laser assembly .. I screwed it back up together and it worked fine .. I then went to power it on again after a hour or so of not using it .. Their was no power on the unit .. No light turning on or anything .. It came with a Sega ac adapter model sa-190 rated input ac100v 50/60hz 18va and output rated at dc10v 850ma .. I also then noticed the ac adapter was pretty hot and smelled funny, so I disconnected it .. Let it cool down completely and tested it out on a different outlet .. And nothing no power at all .. My girlfriend mentioned to me that the power outlet I had plugged into had been acting screwy the past few days, at times not feeding power to our Tg16 .. Is it possible that my ac adapter got damage ?? I tried that power supply on a sega game gear that requires 9 volts and it powered that right up ?? Any help or suggestions on what may be the possible problem ???

I see plenty of people talking about their favorite games for the Tg16, but what I would like know is ??? What's the very worst game that you have ever played for the Tg16 that left you pissed off and annoyed, because the game sucked so badly ??? I personally haven't played a whole lot of games yet .. I have played about 25 plus different games or so .. And the game so far that I absolutely hate playing is Disney's Tale Spin !!! I freaking can't stand how shitty the controller movements are and it seems to be a pretty difficult game play on top of that !!! By far the worst 5 dollars I have spent on my Tg16 !!! And I have a bad feeling theirs plenty of more shitty games out there that I will be coming across while looking for the great ones ..  #-o

What do you guys think about seller doujindance on ebay? He heavily modify's his Duo-r's, region free and scart video rgb. They seem to be in really great condition. And in my opinion the buy it now price seems a bit cheap. Averaging out between 200 and 270 dollars so far. Even after the shipping cost of 75.00 dollars the price still seems very reasonable between 275 and 350. His Duo-r's have been selling within the first hour lately. What do you guys think of his selling strategy, pricing and quality of his modding skills?

I also do have pretty much every gaming console current and retro if the mood struck for it .. I was thinking a bar b-q and some refreshments .. Anyways just something that came to mined in the past few days ..  Let me know what you guys think ???  Hey everyone .. I figured Id post up here since this is the appropriate place for it .. A friend of mine recently surprised me with a Tg16 cd player only that he found in his moms garage .. He had got it as a gift in 97 from his mom. She bought at a yard sale thinking it was a portable cd player and he never got to use it .. lol he told me he thought it was some shitty product because it had no place for battery's and he didn't know where to buy a ac adapter for it .. I tested out the audio with some Tg16 iso's I burned and it worked fine playing the sound tracks .. Then a few days later it stopped working properly .. When it dose work it will eventually start to skip towards the last tracks on my iso's .. I'm thinking it might need to be serviced/tuned for it to fully work properly ..

Is their someone I could send it to ?? So I can have it fully serviced and tuned ?? I would do it myself, but theirs so much going on in that little Tg16 cd player with cables that need to be unplugged and ground cables that need to be unsoldered, then theirs disassembling the laser assembly .. I just don't feel comfortable messing with it .. It would be a damn shame if I screwed it up over the lack of experience and knowledge on Tg16 cd repairs .. Any help out their ??   [-o<

Hey everyone .. Just posting up a question regarding the Tg16 cd maybe someone can help me figuring out this one .. A friend of mine randomly showed up to my house the other day with a Tg16 cd player by itself .. Now this dude doesn't play video games at all. He just mentioned to me that the last time he came over he saw me playing my Tg16 and he had asked me about it .. I told him it was a very advanced technical console from back in the day, I showed him my Tg16 Express and and explained to him how the game cards/Hu cards were interchangeable .. He was amazed !! I also mentioned to him about the cd add on for it called the Tg16 cd .. I told him it was the very first console with an ad on for cd support games .. He was amazed and shocked !! Now here's the cool part he was cleaning out his mothers garage the other day and found the Tg16 cd player and saw it had the word Nec on it .. He flipped it over upside down and read the word Turbografx 16 cd on it also.. He totally knew what it was for, so he brought it over for me as a gift .. I asked him how in the hell did this end up in your mamas garage ?? He said his mom bought it for him around 97 at a yard sale thinking it was a portable disc man .. He was never able to use it to say the least ..

I downloaded a few Tg16 iso and burned it, test it out and it fully played all the music sound tracks from the game .. Now here's what I'm wondering ?? Since it worked does it mean if I buy the docking station for it and the system 2.0 card plus the Tg16 cd ac adapter .. Should the setup work for me ?? I don't have any friends with a complete Tg16 cd to test out the cd player on it ..

AH MAN THAT WOULD BE TO SWEET IF IT WERE THAT SIMPLE TO OBTAINED TG16 CD BLISS !!!

What I'm trying to figure out is ?? If theirs an internal battery in the Turbobooster that eventually dies where you can't keep a charge on it for all your old game saves/high scores ?? I know as long as you keep voltage running through the Turbobooster it keeps your game scores saved. I would really like to figure this one out because surprisingly at my house and among us Tg16 players where I live my girl has the highest score saved and it would totally suck if we lost that saved high score at some point ...

Is their a such thing as a Tg 16 controller adapter for playing virtual console games on the Wii ??? I managed to find one for almost every other 80's-90's retro console but I haven't seemed to find any info on one for the tg 16 controller ??? It would be so great to be able to play the more expensive tg cd games on the Wii's virtual console with the real deal controller !!!
