Ok, so im far from being a game developer, yes my every day job is a code monkey but not in teh games space, so im wondering if there are any good online resources that people suggest for getting up to speed with basic 2d game dev, approaches, physics, general stuff that would prove useful, im not really sure where to start to looking for basic concepts, dealing with tile maps, character movement, approached to sprite collision, etc.. im sure this is well trodden ground..

hey Guys.

So im really keen on all things tg16. and i have most of the tg 16 publications i can find..  I love this site

but its missing the turbo edge details.  I have 2 of the 3 issues ( were 3 actually released ).  i have spring 92, and fall 91, but im not sure what teh 3rd one is, the spring 92 that i have aswell seems kinda strange in that it appears to be missing the last page, im not sure of this because i dont know how many pages the issues had.

Would be great to know more about this publication and just how many issues there were, why it was stopped etc.. are there any fanzines from the time.. i know with the other system i have ( sega sc3000 ) that there were numerous local fanzines so i wondered if TG was the same

Can anyone provide more details about it. 

On a side note i have a couple of duplicate mags which i could trade for the ones im missing aswell if there are others who have these.

[PCE/TG-16|CD/SGX Discussion / Stupid Ebay Sellers]

So i bought a new sealed cratermaze, becaused i wanted the box, asked the selller numerous times to ship in a solid carboard box..  and to protect the game.  Today the game arrives.

Package was ripped open by customs i believe, because the person sent the game in a pizza box.. hmm box crushed.  padding was crumpled paper and a thin sheet of bubble wrap.  So useless.

So i look a bit further, front of cratermaze box is ripped with a hole going through it.  look at the box it was sent in, no holes anywhere.  So either seller has sent me a New Sealed game with a hole in it ( not described in the auction or in any emails ) or customs have randomly ( and very roughly ) cut into the box, i think the first scenario is more likley, ive seen how customs deal with stuff here and its generally very gentle, the top plastic would have been carefull sliced.

anyways annoyed the crap out of me, so im still on the hunt for a decent cratermaze box!!!! useless.. dunno if i will hear back from them, no point sending it back, shipping costs more than the items..  any recourse with paypal?

Just outof interest wondering what resources people have used to get into doing game dev, generally resources on accepted game patters, sprite movement, bounds checking, character animations, basic character movement physics etc..

Im playing with XNA and PSX, but its the fundamentals behind game dev that im a bit blury on.  ive been reading lots of docs, but wondering if anyoneknows a great series of tutorials on the subject.. starting with something like a platformer or 2d spaceshooter..  once i have the basic i can move forward, no problems with the language, just the fundamentals..

[Buy/Sell/Trade / My Wants and Trades - A new user from long ago :)]

Hi Guys,

Its been a long time since i posted here, and a while since i decided to restart to complete my collection.  I'm looking to pick up the loose bits i need.  Below is my list of items i need.  Ive traded lots before on DP, and my username is my ebay name.  Looking to trade if possible or buy, im not wanting to sell my spares right now.  My trade list will be attached aswell, its possibly out of date, so if you are asking about something please be aware it might not be available any more ( i need to sort my stuff out ).  I'll be very clear and say im looking ONLY for MINT.  if its not mint i dont want it, as it stands most everyone on the want list ( except for a few items eg the MC box, which i desperately want, i have all the other boxes ) i already have, just not in mint condition so im looking to trade up   Where i have a complete item for trade, id like to keep it complete, and you will see some of my trades items have nothing against them, just just because im lazy and didnt want to remove them from my script that generates this code ..

I'm overseas in New Zealand, so serious traders only, im happy to buy complete aswell if need be.  Trying to avoid ebay to complete this collection..
