Beginning this evening my notification emails all started containing broken links. This is a bummer since I always use this method to keep track of forum replies and PMs.

Quote/forums/index.php?topic=12268.new;topicseen#new
Above is what I'm receiving now as my link to view a thread containing a reply.

Edit: My apologies. I placed this thread in the wrong sub-forum.

Has anyone ever ordered cases from this company?
https://www.supermediastore.com/products/cd-jewel-case-black-single-standard-premium-high-quality-100

I'm sick of running into low quality jewel cases in this era of cost cutting. I want to be able to store my loose PCE CD games and homemade inserts that friends have sent me without dealing with flimsy cases. Any help on the subject would be great, my friends.  :)

Mati loves ya.

Something I've noticed for a few months is anytime I reply to a thread it takes up to several minutes to post the reply, and sometimes it just hangs there perpetually loading. If I hit Reload in my Firefox browser the post will be there like it should be but the reply seemingly never loaded. It's getting worse I feel lately.

The end is nigh! According to what my Wii told me today the Wii VC will allow the purchase of Wii Points until this coming March (2018), with service ending in January of 2019. I keep my Wii plugged in to my CRT at all times due to its excellent 240p output. Games like Super Air Zonk, Dynastic Hero, NAI, etc look excellent on a 240p CRT w/ component, so I'd get them Points bought now while you still can. Let's give the VC a nice, big sendoff. It deserves it!

I'm doing some troubleshooting and need a Genny Model 2 power supply. Make offers please.

Thanks friends :)

I just picked up the PC Engine version of this game to compliment my Sega CD copy of this charming game. I can't seem to find anywhere on the web that gives an explanation of the improvements the Arcade Card provides over the Super CD. Will anyone please shed some light on this for me?

Love and thanks, my brothers. :)

Looking for a 16Gb(+) memory card for my Vita. The 4 Gb that came with my unit just isn't cutting it. For some reason my system is either reserving about 80% of my card for future downloaded games, or it was used for game updates for the two games I own (which seems ridiculously unlikely). I'm not very knowledgeable about the Vita yet. And the system isn't offering any clues as to why it's doing it.

Anyway I need a new or used memory card please. Make offers. :)

Thanks my brothers.

For those of you with loose Drac X'es. I got a little contest for you. The *first* United States based forum member that can prove to me that he has cleared the game with a 100% rating (that's completely clearing the game with both Richter and Maria plus finding and clearing all alternate stages and finding all four captured girls) will get mailed to them a free homemade case and all inserts previously made by Jodi Whetham. All that you need to do is post a photo here in this thread of the file select screen showing your accomplishment. This is located after you press RUN on the title screen.

Winner must please provide shipping fees through Paypal though as if they were buying goods. Please do not send as a "Gift".

And please no cheating. You must play and beat the game scoring 100% starting now. I understand that there may be members who haven't received their discs yet but I think I've been fair in the amount of time that's passed since sales opened.

There can only be one winner. May the odds be forever in your favor. :)

Edit: The case will also come with a CD-R backup copy of Rondo of Blood w/ artwork. This being a CD-R I must assume zero responsibility if the winner chooses to use the disk in a CD based console. I should state that the CD-R ran fine in my Duo-R.

I'd like these two games with cases and manuals/inserts if available in good (read: no torn/stained labels) condition.

Thanks friends :)

Hey friends. My power supply kinda fell apart on me recently for my Duo-R and I'd like to go ahead and get an official one while I'm out searching for one. And while I'm at it I might as well see if anyone has an extra PCE Duo-R pad. The one with purple accents. Thanks!

I have a Super Fami base unit for sale. No cables or AC adapter. Will accept a SNES controller if you  have one. Very good color with only slight slight yellowing. Works great.

General Gaming / Retro VGS Game Console
03/28/2015, 10:00 PM
I'm not sure when this was officially announced but Micheal Katz and Retro Magazine appear to be working on a new cartridge based games console. A detail that bludgeoned me aside the head was the the system's shell is going to be directly based on the Atari Jaguar! I can only hope that they design some sort of dust protector for the cart slot.

A Kickstarter campaign will be announced soon if anyone wants to help out. I'm pretty excited personally. The idea behind it is since the industry is moving away from physical releases this system will cater to those of us who enjoy having a box, cart and manual. Here's a link to more info:

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB-Snatcher PCE
02/01/2015, 01:02 AM
I adore the SegaCD version of Snatcher and would really like to play the PC Engine version to see and hear the differences. Looking for complete copy in good condition. Spine card and reg not necessary. But if they're there I'll take 'em.
#19
Holy fucking dinosaur dick this looks awesome! After Crichton died I wasn't sure this would ever happen again. If you haven't seen the trailer yet I won't spoil anything but look for something involving a motorcycle that's totally out of left field yet so ridiculously cool.
#20
An announcement will take place tonight unveiling the next boxset from the PCE Works series. Called the Turbo Duo Edition we'll know shortly what games will be included. I call Dynastic Hero and Super Air Zonk. Not sure about the rest. Maybe Beyond Shadowgate and Dungeon Explorer II. It'll be the same price as the PCE edition at 119 euros.
#21
Thanks to Tats for bringing it to my attention. Thunder Blade is finally getting the 3DS treatment. Although I'd much rather play it on a TV I can't really complain as all of Sega's 3DS games I've played have been amazing. Let's all pray that it gets a US release.

Feedback / Notifications issues
11/07/2014, 02:46 PM
Anyone else not seeing their PMs and bookmarked threads show up in their email? I must apologize to those who have been trying to PM me as I haven't received a notification email in a while. Therefore I am way behind on anything forum related.

I have used the notification system for years so I don't think it's my email. Just in case I am using gmail w/ Thunderbird.

I was strolling around System 16's website (http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=942) and as I came upon Act Fracer's listing I noticed that Data East used the Hu6280 in the arcade game's design. Full design spec:

Main Processor: HuC6280 @ 7.159066 MHz
Sound: M6502 @ 1.5 MHz, YM2203 @ 1.5 MHz, YM3812 @ 3 MHz), OKI6295 @ 7.759 kHz
Video Resolution: 256x240

You'll notice the clock speed is almost identical the PCE's 7.16 MHz. I can only dream at what a port of this game would look like on the PC Engine. I had always pegged Act Francer as 68000 based.

I thought this was really interesting. If I am late to the party on this info my apologies. At least we'll get a new discussion out of it.

P.S. Trio the Punch looks to use the same hardware as well. Odd little game.

My old and not-so-trusty-anymore PS1 is starting to fizzle out on me. I am looking for an original model with a mid-to-late serial number so that I can hopefully avoid any future issues. It needs to be in good cosmetic shape. If I see that Nulltard has stained it by putting his nuts on it as he is known to do I will ask for a refund.  :P

Really though...I wants a nice one. :)
Make offers.

Edit:

Can be system only. Cables and controllers aren't necessary.

http://mrpofvania.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2014-04-15T21:20:00-07:00&max-results=7&start=26&by-date=false

This new blog by one of my favorite writers of retro gaming, Mr. P. (who you may know from his excellent Castlevania reviews), is a trip through his childhood experiences starting with the NES. What resonates so much with me is that his experiences and memories parallel mine. He reminds me of what those early days of falling in love with video games felt like. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time but lacked the writing skills to write my thoughts out. Mr. P does a much more thorough and stellar job here than I could ever do.

After clicking the above link scroll down to the first post and work your way up. If you lived out these experiences like me then prepare yourself for a blast of nostalgia capable of warming your belly to an untold degree. Enjoy! :)

System has been cleaned and tested. It may need cartridge port maintenance at some point as the connections tend to break down on these things. It's a quick cheap solder job fortunately.

Box has some wear and tear. See pics. Comes with Phaser, original AV cables (I think they're original), AC, RF, and two original controllers which have not been tested. Foam insert is damaged. $90 $75 shipped.

All below games do not include shipping unless noted.

SNES: all loose
Donkey Kong Country 2 $15 (This is a dupe I came across at MGC. Pins and board needs some cleaning)
Donkey Kong Country 3 $15
UN Squadron *Sold* $15
Super Ghouls and Ghosts $15

Genesis:
Truxton (loose)*Sold* $10
Rocket Knight Adventures *Sold* (loose) $8
Castle of Illusion (loose) *Sold* $8
Casltevania Bloodlines *Sold* $25
Flashback $8

SuperGrafx:
Daimakaimura (no outer sleeve/just shy of mint-perfect gamer's copy) $40 shipped

Stay tuned for more sale goodies

Sorry about the image size. I am on Ashe's computer since mine is in the shop. I can't figure out how to resize them with her laptop.

I have a Sega CD model 1 w/ mounting plate and screw, plus an official AC adapter for sale. Console is in good (read: "Gamers'") condition. There is a small crack on the faceplate above the tray's "CD" swirl. It's not very noticeable while you're playing.

Console works great. Asking $50 for everything. Shipping not included.

Edit: Console does not include box

Seeing as how Munchiaz had a pretty successful group buy with the Mega Everdrive, would anyone care to go in on one the SD2SNES flash carts? There would be a savings of $35, which would bring the total price down to $155 a piece. I am getting married in a few weeks, and then moving, plus MGC as well so this may not happen instantly. So be forewarned. I just wanted get a feel for what could be an excellent opportunity for ten of us.

With the rising costs of retro games these flash carts are a saving grace for old fogeys like us that just want to play games on original hardware. We might as well pick up a flash cart  for the three 16-Bit consoles that really mattered while we have the chance. :)

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB-PSP model 2000
01/19/2014, 10:27 PM
Seeing as how Falcom won't listen to me and release some of their games on a console (Wii U!) I would like to get a PSP and start getting the Ys games I missed out on. And yes I know about the availability of some Ys games on Steam. It's not the same. I tried.

So, I am looking for a PSP model 2000 where I can hook it up to a TV and game away til my eyes fall out. Please make offers.

I wants it! Please send fair offer. Complete in case preferred. :)

Edit: Also looking for Shadow of the Beast.

06/12/2013, 05:32 PM
I am looking for a replacement copy of Chrono Trigger (loose) in nice condition w/ working saves. Please make offers.

Over $500 worth of my game collection was stolen last weekend. I lost most of my Wii and 360 games. A few of my SNES games including Chrono Trigger. I lost Sinistron and Side Arms for the Turbo/PCE. Thankfully the rest of my Turbo/PCE collection remains. I didn't lose any systems either. I am deeply saddened by this because a family member is the culprit. He crept into my game room when he came over for Sunday dinner. Once I discovered what had happened I called around to the local game stores to see if I could locate anything. Good news is I did find where he hocked them, and I alerted the management there that the games had been stolen. Bad news is the only way I can get them back is to file a police report and send my brother to jail. I am going to go up there tomorrow to see if I can buy back what they paid for everything. They told me that he has been in there for the last two weeks selling my stuff so this isn't a new occurrence. I am heartbroken at this course of events mainly due to my brother's actions. Chrono Trigger is also a game that I cherish and seeing it's empty space on the shelf nearly gave me a heart attack.

I feel like I am rambling. I just need to get this stuff off my chest by sharing it with my friends here. Thanks in advance for listening.

Microsoft has made it clear that they consider you a drone and intend to control how you enjoy video games.
If Microsoft does a 180 and decides this isn't such a good idea then fine. But, if they do not listen and continue their arrogance vote with your wallets and pocketbooks.

I just picked up a replacement model 1 Sega CD to replace my junky one. Thing is it doesn't have the plate. Does anyone have an extra one? Post or PM me an offer.

FYI-Model 1 and Model 2 plates are different. It needs to be of the Model 1 variety.  :)

Shame on us! Not one proper thread (the one about the birthday bash in Europe doesn't count  :P )to wish our little white powerhouse a happy 25th. So, in celebration let's post our earliest memories of either hearing about the PC Engine, or from those lucky enough to get one on Halloween Day 1987 (or there abouts).

My memories are probably common among many of us. EGM introduced me and I was immediately mesmerized. The graphics were not only more colorful, but they had a charm to them that even EGM's blurry photos couldn't mask. Back then when I thought of the word "PC Engine" I thought things that were exotic, powerful, and wholly Japanese. Of course, there was no way I was ever getting one back then so the good 'ol PC Engine remained a mystery to me until I picked up a Turbografx CD plus converter. I officially joined the PCE ranks with a Duo-R a year or so back.

Edit: Oops...Sunteam's thread counts. Oh well. Double the fun!

I was mentally looking for key words like "Happy" and "Birthday" and "25th!" ....OBEY DAY completely slipped through my brain's filter hee hee 8-[

Off-Topic / Midwest Gaming Classic 2013
10/31/2012, 09:48 PM
It's almost that time of year again. In 5 short months the most underrated Modern/Classic Gaming convention in the country will be storming the beaches in Milwaukee for the umpteenth time. At this year's Octurbofest we hog tied some new recruits to potentially help out in setup and bringing gear. We are looking for more people as there never can be too much help in putting on the best show this side of the Mississippi. Those in the Midwest (or own a plane) who are interested in helping please PM either myself or forum member DHG Hunter.

Emails have been sent out to those who were interested at Octurbofest. Please take 5 minutes to let us know why you got into gaming. If you are a member of this forum then obviously you are passionate about retro gaming and we would really like to hear why! Hope to hear from yuz guyz soon! :D

The show will take place March 23rd and 24th at the Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel in Brookfield, WI

Looking to acquire a UK version of Shenmue II for the DC. Would like it to be complete and in good shape.

I am playing through the first Shenmue after letting it sit for a long time. I completed the game in its entirety back when it was first released and would now like to continue the journey on its original home system. Please PM offers. Thanks! :D

I need an arcade stick for my newly modded XBOX. It doesn't necessarily need to be optimized for fighters. I just need something to make the MAME experience more authentic, plus I don't care for the XBOX controller.

...It took MS over ten years to finally fix that horrible D-Pad and when they do they make you buy a more expensive controller while the old D-Pad design remains alive and well on the regular priced controllers. Ugh!

....sorry about that mini-rant.

A buddy of mine had his NES games stolen from him recently. In an effort to help him piece his collection back together (the games stolen were his originals from when he was young) I ask the help of my good friends here. The Dragon Warriors were some of his favorites so I will pursue these first. I haven't told him that I am doing this, so hopefully he will have a nice surprise soon.

I won't be able to send out any money yet, but feel free to start PMing offers. Thanks all! :)
