Same here. My Wii U copy transferred over to Switch just like they said it would.

I was initially skeptical about the Switch and was basically just buying it for my 9 year old daughter who is into Nintendo.
Nintendo these days make great consoles primarily for younger children and families. My favourite console ever was the Super Famicom but in more recent years my personal feelings on Nintendo are:
Gamecube= Meh
DS= Some ok games but mostly meh
Wii= Meh (Wife and kids loved it)
3DS= Liked a few games but mostly meh
Wii-U= Meh

So why am I saying this? because the Switch did actually completely catch me by suprise, I really like it, it's the first console they've made since the Super Famicom/SNES (maybe N64) that I'm actually excited about the future and looking forward to new games and buying more games.

Looks like I'm not alone as it's matching the Wii in sales and popularity so far and just read that Nintendo are planning to double the amount they're going to manufacture from 8 million to 16 million.

Saying all that I still can't connect mine to my router, so not able to do any updates yet or buy any download games, looks like I'll have to buy a new router, which pisses me off.

I still think the Switch won't be the second coming of the Wii. Even if i is, remember how desperate Nintendo was to put a new console out of the door due to low software sales (circa 2010 when the fad was over).

I doubt we'll ever see another otherworldly phenomena like the Wii; I doubt grandma's and soccor moms will be picking up another game console so ferociously any time in the future.

I am starting to look forward from Zelda as it winds down - almost up to 80 hours played and I am thinking "what's next".

I've never played Binding of Isaac, so I am considering that as my next physical game purchase; not much else on the horizon I can think of playing next except Xenoblade 2, which I expect a delay on.

Edit:

Looks like there IS a defect in some left joy cons, so if yours is disconnecting often and easily then you can get it repaired. Apparently a variation in manufacturing has caused some to perform poorly.

The joycons that came with my switch seem to be more prone to disconnect than the ones I purchased a couple weeks later separately, so this makes more sense to me.

Gredler Binding of Isaac is a really fun game, played quite a bit on steam many years ago. Was thinking about getting it for either 3DS or Vita, so I'm wondering how the Switch version compares as a handheld port. Great game for quick bursts of action and a really fun and great atmosphere.

Gredler

I got it on steam for under a dollar at one point, with super meat boy I think, and never put a lot of time into it. I felt like it had a flash game feel to it, and the grotesque art and story were a bit off putting. This was right around the time it came out, and now after hearing so much praise and seeing people play it a lot (friends often are online playing it, and around the office I see people playing it) I think dang maybe I didn't give it a good enough chance. The nostalgia of the packaging makes me think about buying it, and supporting the developers is also something I wouldn't mind doing.

The problem seems to be about the placement of the bluetooth antenna in some Joy-Cons. It's too close to a shielding and where the hand is covering it. An experiment to extend the antenna in the opposite direction seems to have been effective:

Nice, ninja rollout of hardware revisions will mean this will be fixed soon, and us early adoptors are either screwed or will need to throw a fit with nintendo to get them "fixed"

That guy on the left (Ian?) looks and sounds like he is in a significant amount of pain, seems grueling for him to do this podcast.

Hope he feels better soon somehow, that seems very rough whatever he is heating his stomach for.

Apparently, he had to go to many different doctors and specialists before he was properly diagnosed. He was in pain the entire time (4-6 months?).

I never heard of the condition before, but it was described as "nerves grow into your muscles" and the only "cure" is to wait until the nerves "work their way out" of the muscles (un-embed themselves).

Again, don't mistake my description for an authentic medical description...it was simply what I gleaned from the podcast.

Why can't they ever do their podcast somewhere else?  Maybe they do? Not sure since I've only seen a couple years ago. Why always have to have on game shirts or be in front of your game collection?  Why try so hard like you still have something to prove?

Stack of games = instant credibility.

Asking them to perform elsewhere would be removing their crutch that provides then with confidence they may not naturally have.

Whatever his issue is I do wish him well.  Clash I think you are right on though.  Besides no LA in the shot so it already loses awesome points.

I think people are just accidentally sitting on them but I admit it's entirely possible that overheating could be a major concern. I'm gonna take mine on vacation with me to Milwaukee this weekend. We'll see how it behaves. Now to figure out how to charge the thing without the base. That's one of the very few things about the Switch that angers me (with the exception of the left Joycon's "directional pad" lol).

My son has this on PC, but decided to get the Switch version. He now prefers to play on the Switch and likes the controls better. Oddly enough, my wife likes to join in and play with him in the multi player mode.

Do they have a Netflix app yet?  That's what we've used our Wii-U for in between major releases...

Gredler

No netflix on switch. I've loved the time I've spent with zelda, but I can play the same game only so much and I am definitely reaching the end of romance/obsession with that game.

I guess Binding of Isaac or Shovel Knight is what I have left to choose from.

Snipper Clippers is done too now, so another multiplayer game purchase is in my future - maybe it's time for Bomberman? I've seen some copies going for ~$30 I think ~$20 is what I am more comfortable paying for that game.

What about Blaster Master 0? I've heard nothing but good things. Lego City Undercover was great fun on WiiU, so if you haven't played that, it might be a good option.

Thanks for the suggestion - I do have Blaster Master 0 so yep that's my next playthrough, but Sarumaru and others have said it's just about 10 hours long, so I'll likely get through that quickly. I got stuck on the first boss, and think I need to backtrack and find something I missed?

Lego City Undercover looks cool - I just got that for my nephew for his birthday on wii u, but I think after Zelda I'm going to be set on open world exploration for a little bit.

I am Setsuna looks intriguing, I might pick that up. I wish there were a physical copy - I'd be more inclined to invest the $40 asking price.

I believe the JP version of I am Setsuna has the English text on it as well, so if import that you can still have a physical copy and play the game in English.

Only the Switch version is the one with English language I think.  So probably get that one.

To keep me tied over I downloaded shock troopers and played it with my son in tablet mode. After accidentally putting a joycon together the wrong way and taking ages to get it apart we had a blast. Was good fun.

I played Snipper Clips when visiting a friend. Had a hard time getting accustomed to the d-buttons (instead of d-cross) of the secondary pad, since I was player two. But I laughed my ass off when playing the game, since we were mostly standing in each others way and thus fucked up often big time instead of cooperating. Still, everytime we were able to solve a puzzle eventually, the feeling was very satisfying. Good game.

You should start by posting yours, it will remind me to post mine when I get home.

...though I have 3 friends locally with a Switch and none of us have played together yet, despite being on our friends lists.

I am not sure if I am good enough, but I'd like to play some Puyo Puyo Tetris online.

Gredler

I am definitely a rookie even though I've dabbled in both puyo and Tetris for years. Mean bean machine and og gameboy tetris were common time wasters but the lack of competitive play means my abilities never were tested so I just tread water.

I'd be down to play online for sure.

Btw,  is it just me or does puyo have a distinct advantage in how easily it can send garbage over Tetris? Tetris vs puyo always feels like an uphill battle.

I really like what I have seen so far, and tried few times. But I can't justify buying it just yet. So many games still to play on 3DS and the price is bound to go down.
BTW considering that Street Fighter 2 game, the standard joycon dpad looks really painfull for shoryukens and fireballs.
