Along with plans for an MSX version (slightly different gameplay and graphics), I've been tinkering with a Windows Grelox. I'm aiming for a sort of Master System feel and it is (obviously) inspired by the brilliant Zillion.

Here's the first bit of progress:

I've been playing a bit of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night recently and wondered how the PC Engine would handle the graphics, so I did this quick test.

Not too bad, it would suffer a lot from the reduced palette but I think it would certainly handle it well.

This week we unlock a free mini album of PCE chip music remixes.

You can listen to it here.

Disclaimer: This is my first attempt at making remixes and I'm usually pretty crap at any sort of music.

I made this video thingy right here.
#16
If so, send me a PM.
#17
I went and made a new video.
#18
So I made this video. It could be helpful whenever new people join the fold as we always get the question..."what games should I buy?"
Yeah, Magical Chase isn't in there.

Nor is Nectaris.

Or Neutopia.

Cry me a river.

Steve Turner (formerly of Graftgold) has given me some information on a PC Engine version of Paradroid that was completed, but never released:

QuoteWe finished the project. Gary J Foreman programmed it in house and it was easily the best Paradroid version as it had the fastest frame rate.  We did it for Sunsoft I think via Hewson Consultants. Unfortunately Hewson Consultants went into insolvency before it was published.  Sunsoft supplied all the kit and when they heard Hewson Consulatnts had gone insolvent demanded all the kit back. They were unaware that Graftgold had been contracted to develop the game or that we had developed the original version. We sent them a final version but they said unless we could prove we had undisputed rights for the game they were not interested. The Receiver said any rights Hewson may have had in the game were sold to Andrew Hewson's new company but he could not specify what those rights were. So unless I could get Hewsons successor company to confirm they held no rights to the game it was dead.  After much pleading  I did get a confirmation but it was too late Sunsoft declined the product even though we offered to master it for nothing and just get royalties over any existing advances.
QuoteThe graphics were all based on the original but reworked  for the PC Engine. The gameplay was identical to the C64 version but it ran at the frame rate of the PC Engine so the scroll was ultra smooth and it played like a dream.
Unfortunately he has no images, I've contacted Andrew Hewson and he has little memory of the project.

In 2017, the PC Engine will be 30 years old. To celebrate this event, I hope to gather stories, photos and memories of the PC Engine and/or TurboGrafx-16 from the community and compile them into a free book that anyone can view online or download and print.

This book will be a community project, written by us, for us.

I'm looking for virtually anything you have to say about the PC Engine, which can include:
When you first saw a PCE/TG.
General memories, events (serious, funny, happy or sad) concerning the PCE/TG.
Stories about the PCE/TG (real or fictional is OK!)
PCE/TG related artwork you want to share.
Photos of you, your setup, you playing, or just being silly with your PCE/TG.
Anything else PCE/TG related that you can think of!

You can send any content or enquiries to me at paul[at]pcengine.co.uk or message me on the forums here (If you have large/many images then I suggest using a service such as wetransfer.com)

If you are contributing, when you send information, please let me know the name or handle which you would like to be credited as and a photo of you (or something to represent yourself) that I can use as an avatar of sorts with your comments.

LET'S MAKE THIS AN EPIC BOOK WORTHY OF THE PCE!

Would this tickle anyone's fancy? An english language homebrew digital comic for PCE is something I've been interested to make for some time, but it's a LOT of work planning/arting. It would be fun to write though.
