It has come to my attention that there is a mistake on the 7374 PCB.  The 4th output is unused and is tied to ground while it should be floating.  This is causing the IC to run hotter than normal.  I would think the risk is fairly low as some of these have been in use for almost 2 years now.  My guess would be that it running a bit hotter will cause the amp to wear out faster.  Its also a possibility that the 4th channel could just go out and the chip return to normal temps.  The temp its running at is still below the continuous operation long term reliability max temp.  Having said that,  I have not had any reports of any of them failing yet but you may want to either modify the board or discontinue using it.

I tested one and after running for an hour, I measured it with my Fluke 87 meter and its running at 65 °C.  With the 4th output floating the temp is 30°C.  Per the data sheet:
Maximum junction temperature, continuous operation, long-term reliability is +125 °C

You can fix this by lifting that leg.  Here is pic with an arrow pointing to the pin that needs lifted
https://imgur.com/a/cMeWI3l
IMG

I found it easiest to just de-solder that side of the IC, lift/break off the leg, then re solder that side down.

If you purchased one of these and would like me to lift the pin for you or give you a refund, send me a message and I will get back to you.  I may need proof that you purchased it from me.  I will only refund ones that I sold that I had soldered. If you bought one from console5 though i will lift the pin on it.

If you want me to lift the pin, send me the pcb(s) along with a piece of paper with a return address and you email.  I will lift the pin and then send it back.

If you want a refund, send me the pcb(s) along with a piece of paper with your paypal email address.  I will then send $20 to your paypal account per amp.

I had a few minutes so I rewired a console wrong (red and blue swap).  Here is what it should look like:

I still think your red and blue need swapped in the cable or console.

looks like it might be missing red.  what cable are you using?  did the person that modded it supply a cable?  I have seen something similar when a genesis cable is used for a system modded like this:

edit:
looks like there is some purple so maybe just the colors are inverted.  there are 2 ways people usually wire these.  like above and like this:

I have updated the amp with output resistor values closer to the ideal values of 86 ohm with a 586 ohm to ground.  The ideal values can only be done with 4 resistors so have changed to the closest I could get it with 2.  Now using an 86.6 ohm resistor with a 604 ohm resistor to ground.  Both resistors are 0.1% tolerance.  See the math below:

it should fit.  in the video on the thread in neo geo, it shows working on a tg16. its the connector that would interfere with it not fitting.  the slot where it goes in on a TG16 is smaller. other than that, the dimensions on the back of the console are the same.

here is an example of ten no koe 2.  if you remove the extra plastic (circled in red) from the connector, it fits fine on a tg16

they said they were going to test it soon to make sure though, but i dont see why it wouldn't fit.

the issue with the pinout being different on the exp port is just when you a modding one.  this is due to the pcb being upside down in shell.  it being on the opposite side of the board makes the pins you need to solder to different from the normal pinout posted all over for the pc engine.
I may have been incorrect about this.  looks like the AV booster is designed a little different and doesn't quite slide onto a TG16 without a little more modifying of its shell.  I had never tried to put one of these on a TG16 before and didn't realize they were shaped a little differently.  Looks like this is what they designed theirs after.

They have said it might fit without modifying but are not quite sure yet.  but they also said it should fit with some slight modification if it doesn't fit right.

Quote from: mickcris on 10/27/2016, 06:20 PMit doesnt unless someone replaced the screws in yours. it defiantly uses "gamebit" screws.  The Turbo Duo uses them also.  The PCE Duo uses a security torx T10 size.  Its a little different than a regualr torx as the driver needs a hole in the middle.

i found the correct term, its a "line head" screw
https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Parts/Gamebit-4-5mm/IF145-104-2
Just for visual clarification, my old TG16 and my current PCE Duo system use these types of screws on the outside.

IMG
yours may have those, but if it does, someone put them in there after they took it apart.  they could have stripped out the originals or lost them maybe.  see here where someone is taking one apart.
i also took a pic of one from the bottom of one of mine

if you are doing c-sync then you would need to add a switch for composite or c-sync.  unless he really needs csync for his monitor though its not really necessary.

its easy to do, just remove the 5 pin din and put an 8 pin din in its place.  have to cut the extra pins first unless the seller already did it and also you can swap the ground pins with the new one.
http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/core-grafx-rgb-mod/

I have some of them.  the come included with the kit i sell, but can get you one if needed.  or you can order them from china on ebay.

this is what it looks like from the back and you cant really tell the difference from the front.  the orignal av cable also still works.

Had not seen any other posts about this particular pcb. I ordered a couple a while back, as I liked the design, and got around to trying one out the other day.

I would say its the cleanest looking region mod you can do on a duo.  It was fairly easy to install as everything lines up perfectly.  Where the hucard pins solder to the region board, you will want to use a liberal amount of extra flux or you will probably bridge some of the pins together.

IMG
https://imgur.com/a/rpniX

Overall I like it, but I can build basically the same circuit with the larger package IC and wires for $1. So not sure, for me at least, paying 20x the cost is worth it.  But if you want a really clean install, I would recommend this board.  $20 is about the same price as the one sold by turbokon, so its not expensive compared to the only other pre built mod that I know of.

Quote from: brandonx76 on 10/09/2016, 10:45 AMI'm going to open my unit soon - bought from doujindance - had been pretty happy with the unit TBH except a jailbar issue.

Now I'm worried - because all I wanna do is fix the common 'jailbar' issue.  (As detailed by Tim Worthington here: http://etim.net.au/av-driver/pcebars/)

I believed this would be a 'simple' mod but wanted to ask around about the particular capacitors on this motherboard (DuoRX) because I'm not sure I'll be able to figure them out based on description?

Also I'm trying to verify if these capacitors will be a suitable fix:EDIT: these look to be a match:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R24A7QO/ref=biss_dp_t_asn

Tim's specs are:

Capacitor type: Ceramic (MLCC)
Package size: 0805
Capacitance: 4.7 uF
Maximum voltage: 16V or 25V
Dielectric T.C.: X7R

Anyway, when I do get to it, I'll be sure to post pics.  And if the problem is too bad, (dealing with hot gun glue issues?!?  hope not!) I may ask to hire someone else.  I'm US based, but don't mind shipping etc, but looking for reputable modder who may have time.

Also, as I mentioned earlier, I'm trying to confirm / verify, which actual capacitors apply to my motherboard design.  Anyone know off hand for the Duo RX?

Any info appreciated.  Thank you!
Those are correct but that price is pretty high.  I can send you a couple if you are in the USA for a dollar.  PM me if interested and i will give you my paypal address.

here is where they go on the Duo-R/RX
IMG

it will not real simple since the caps are on the bottom of the pcb (directly under the hu6260) and you will have to pull it out of the case without disturbing the wires to change them.

I got a "pc turbo" in a lot of a bunch of consoles and controllers from yahoo japan a while back.  its definitely aftermarket or clone.

it has NES style rubber membranes and not pc engine ones which is kind of interesting i guess.

i think mine has a bad cable though as it currently isnt working right.  im not sure what the switch on the back is for

edit:
i just checked and one pin does not have continuity back to the connector inside the controller.  im not sure if its really worth it to attach another cable, but i may at some point.

This is similar to how Game-Tech's TG16 region mod is installed but without the QSB.  Hadn't seen anyone document this way of doing it yet.

Instead of cutting the pins on the card slot, you can cut the traces that go between the card slot and the ribbon cable.  The traces for the odd pin numbers are on the top of the card slot pcb while the even numbered pin's traces are on the bottom.  I was able to finish up this install pretty quickly compared to the pin cutting method. This also allows the wires to be kept pretty short.   I took some pics but kind of hard to see with my messy wires.

you can just connect the 2 with a wire if yours is one that it uses the shield to connect.  check on the expansion port if GNDa and GNDd are connected without the shield
gamesx.com/misctech/pcebp.php
then if they are not, determine a point where the shield connected that go to each and then run a thick wire to connect them both.  they may already be connected on yours as I have seen shields that dont connect them also.

I think it should have been connected in more than 2 places originally.  i'm sure you can find a couple spots to connect both grounds.  there should be lots of places to connect them together.

edit:
looks like yours might have them connected already, but wont hurt for you to check yours anyways. I pulled mine apart to look at it again:
IMG

this was one that I got from gamedrhk a long time ago and they had left that shield off.  when i tried to use it on a av booster i modded for rgb, it didnt work.  after some troubleshooting, thats when i figured out the shield on that board connected the grounds together.  the black wire (on the left side) is connecting the analog and digital grounds.

I just did this extra capacitor mod for a JP PC Engine DUO. It works great. No jail bars whatsoever now. Just installed the one larger cap in the picture. Website did not say the value of the capacitor but from the length/width of it I'm guessing that it's a 820UF or 1000UF cap. I haven't seen many lower value caps that are that tall and skinny.

IMG

Adding this 1000μF cap is the only thing I changed. Did not have to add the two 22μF caps nor did I have to do anything extra with grounding.
thats the same place as one of viletim's fix caps go.  he had stated that a ceramic cap is needed though.  wondering if that large cap might work the same or better.  the small ceramic is probably easier to put in though.

see warning about potential noise caused by a cheap power supply:
https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=20351.msg443659#msg443659

Found this the other day and had not seen it mentioned anywhere else.  There are cables for sale that are DIN5 to 4 RCA jacks.  They have a couple different descriptions of pinouts.  One being the traditional pinout and the other being counting the pins in order:

"5-pin DIN plug (wired 1 + 4 + 5 + 3) to 4 x RCA plugs"

or similar to this

"Going clockwise on the image the pin connections are:
PIN 1 = BLACK
PIN 2 = RED
PIN 3 = GROUND
PIN 4 = YELLOW
PIN 5 = WHITE"

Here is a cable that I have confirmed work (If you order a different one you may want to verify the pin-out with a multi-meter before using):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2m-5-Pin-Male-Din-Plug-to-4-x-RCA-Phono-male-Plugs-Audio-Cable-007353-/191525801883 (currently $4.76 & FREE Shipping)
The UK seller has them on Amazon for cheaper (currently $4.27 & FREE Shipping):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M0FXP64

The more expensive USA location cable from ebay (removed USA cable as they sent someone a different one) is not better quality.  I think the cheaper cable shipping from the UK is actually a little better.  Both have wires that are a bit thinner than an oem cable, but i couldn't see any difference in picture quality on my TV.

comparison of the US sold ebay cable (on left) to an OEM PCE AV cable (on right):
IMG
IMG
note that the UK cable has slightly larger pins in the DIN jack than this USA cable but still not as large as the OEM cable.  The UK cable also has shorter grounds on the RCA connectors compared to the USA cable.

Now for the mod part.  Cut the Yellow connector off and use the black for video.  Probably safest to cover where you cut with heat shrink (preferred) or electrical tape as that wire is connected to 5v on the console.  I also put a piece of yellow heat shrink on the black RCA plug.  The left audio, right audio, and ground are already on the correct pins.  These have a nice molded DIN connector unlike most aftermarket PCE/Duo AV cables that have one that someone soldered on.  Here is a pic of the USA sold ebay cable after I "modded" it.

I really wanna buy one from someone on here, but the prices I've seen are about $50-100 more than one of his systems, even after shipping (granted, I've been on here for a couple days so). I'm thinking of just getting my US TG-16 modded for RGB and then grabbing a RGB-modded Duo-R for imports and CD games. Skipping the region mod altogether.
I will let you have my Duojindance system for $300 shipped if you want it.  It has not had very much use since I got it a couple years ago so still in great shape.  It was one he put a new lens in before he sold it.  I see now he has some systems that he does not replace it that are cheaper.  Console has a controller, controller extension cable, av cable, euro scart cable, and a PS2 slim power supply.

TLDR = male scart plugs for $0.74 each + shipping/pp fee in the USA. PM me your zip code and how many you would like and I will let you know the total.  Would preferably like to sell in lots of 50, but will sell in lesser quantities (no less than 5).

I needed some Scart plugs and decided to just order straight from China. I had got some before from Newark, but they were kind of pricey and had too big of a hole for the cables I was using. As you know these are not that easy to come by in the USA. I am offering them for the price I paid, plus shipping to you as I do not need 500 but that was the minimum order. They came out to be $0.74 a piece. A little more expensive than I had initially hoped, but they seem like descent quality. I had not understood the shipping options when I ordered them and thought it was free, but they ended up only offered express shipping. Shipping turned out to be almost as much as the connectors so they ended up being double the price that I had initially thought. But I did get them in 2 days from Taiwan.

I would prefer to sell them in quantities of at least 50. I am going to keep probably around 100 to 150 for myself, so there are 350 - 400 up for sale. 100 almost fit in a medium flat rate box (they might possibly fit if i took them out of the bags).

I tested both of the following cables and they tighten down without adding any bulk to the cable like I had to do with the previous ones I had:

Decided to just raffle this as I have no idea on its value.  Must have at least 100 posts and have been a member for at least a year to enter.  Will cover postage in the USA.  If you are not in the USA, then I will request that you pay actual postage.  Also, please only enter if you have a loose TurboGrafx Super System Card 3.0 to go in it.  Not really sure how many people that is actually going to apply to or how it can be proven but I will just have to trust you!  Do not enter if you plan on trying to flip this on ebay.  Will keep this open for about a week.

I was after this but I lost the auction around 5am while I was asleep..

then I stumbled and ended up winning this. I don't know the asking price of these anymore but I think I got a decent deal.

I don't need this, but figured someone might want it.  I haven't tested it but it should work.  Shipping to USA address is on me.  First person to reply can have it.

Did anyone else see this:

Quote from: bigbernieWedged it inbetween some stuff but still gives out that awesome feel. I'm really happy with this piece.IMG
Apologies for the non Nintendo post but had to get this out there. I ran into someone selling old stuff and they asked if I would be interested in the cabinet. Of course, i was eager to add a piece to my "wife is going to kill me collection" I got it for a great price but wonder is this from a store or a home made deal? It's quite a unique piece. Also forgot the TG plexiglass for the top front. What do you guys think?

Thanks guys. I did photo the nice side. The other side the *grafx's* are a *bit scratched up/more wear* but still presentable. There was certainly maniacal laughter coming from me as I drove away from the buy. I could just see this being in a radio shack 20 years ago. Man, I love games. The best part about it is the randomness of it. It was just some dude who was getting rid of nes games and "oh, by the way would you be interested in this cabinet?" Truck tires just SCREAMING. Haha.

Im still buzzing from that grab. what a gooder. Thank you for those who express interest (towrds the display, not me) I'm not sure if I want to sell I wouldnt even know what to ask. It has very sentimental value to me for all of the time I have owned it. I might even think there are special powers being omitted from it. I will clean it up and glam it up some and post pics then. Please stay tuned.

Looks pretty awesome.  He doesn't say how much he paid for it, but he said he got a good deal on it.  I am guessing these are pretty rare.

guess i should have searched first as there are already a couple threads about these kiosks:

Have you checked these 3 areas I circled in red?

It looks like some of those traces may be bad, but hard to tell if its just reflection

The one I bought came today so I decided to do the PAL to NTSC mod and also RGB mod using the Sony encoder.

The normal Din 5 PCB mount has the same footprint, but the pins are all different.  I wanted to use the same scart cable pinout as my other systems so I had to cut some traces and use jumper wires to get it back to normal.  If doing this, note that the ground pin also needs severed on the other side of the board.  Then I used a normal Din 8 PCB mount with pins 6,7,and 8 trimmed.

Here is a pic of the note i took while confirming the pin-out in case it helps someone in the future:

RGB amps and scart cables are here:
https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=18845.0

If you need a region switch, one can be installed in any console I am selling for an extra cost.

RGB Tennokoe 2 - comes with scart cable.
Has had a DIN 8 and AV jacks added to the back.  Expansion port has been trimmed so it will also work on a TG16 as well as PC Engine systems.  Saving tested and verified working.  Have minor scuffs and scratches.  All have the battery cover, but one had the clip part of the cover almost broken off so a bit of epoxy was added to it.

Asking $75 each shipped in the USA (1 available)
