After that great recommendation of Babylon5 what next. I have seen all the other Star Trek and BattleStar and Buck Rodgers as well as Space 1999 and V.Now it's time for Quantum Leap.

They're all rich and love to post the nerd gamer equivalent of pics of hundred dollar bills and gold jewellery and guns and stupid crap.Quote from: jonebone on 04/21/2017, 08:24 AMI buy and sell a lot, and have done so for about 8+ years now. From $10-$15 carts to $1000+ sealed across many platforms. And believe me, when you talk about people buying things on credit, you are talking about a very miniscule amount of collectors. I get more people saying "Hey can I pay on payday" (maybe ~5-10% of people I've dealt with) than people just financing it on credit. So all of those assumptions regarding the crash are flat out wrong. Are you administrating their PayPal accounts? How the hell do you know if they using credit? This is a serious question because you refer to it as a certainty and I don't see any way you would know at all. Do you have a storefront? You're making some pretty positive claims here.
What you do get are life priorities that take place over collecting. You get married, want to fund a honeymoon. You have kids, need to convert game room to nursery. You buy a house / sports car and need a down payment etc.
Or, as we age, your kid goes to college and you see a $20K+ a year bill coming your way. Or you have to pay for funerals of loved ones. Etc. But those are longer term impacts that shouldn't even be addressed now.
Since the overwhelming majority of this stuff is NOT bought on credit, you won't see an tremendous collapse of people selling stuff for pennies on the dollar. Besides, not sure if you noticed, but if you list a bunch of like items at 0.99 auctions (which firesellers would have to do), they tend to do well and come damn near (or beat) BIN prices anyway.
I do think prices will taper off at some point as our generation ages and collecting shifts behind other life priorities, but expecting a full on collapse is wishful thinking.
This is basically the mentality of omega level collectards:
They always have the same reaction when that stuff doesn't fly here: "you're all just jealous because you can't afford to hang with us true collectors!".
People like Goldenpp who post a short list of games they're looking for and then pay $3600 at once for a handful of them are not the vast majority of regular North Americans if it's not paid for by going into debt. He even admitted to not being familiar with Turbo games, yet buying ones he hasn't played based only on whims and videos.Quote from: guest on 06/07/2016, 10:24 AMI like how he spent $3,600 in one pop and still needs most of the rares.Goldenpp offered some insight into the mindset of those driving the market irrationally:
#collectardfailsQuoteWhen I first began, things were cheaper, sellers were looser and in general it was a lot easier to deal with, it only took about 5 years for me to begin regretting going for complete titles because of the way pricing was jacking up so much, but when you get that far into something, it becomes difficult for some of us to back away and call it quits, even if it takes out a lot more money than expected. However, the urge for me to complete my various system collections comes from the desire to get it over with in the event the cost continue to rise, I do not want even more games to reach a prohibitive point that I can no longer ever afford to purchase them (as many have)That is a vicious cycle that you cannot keep up with.
It's true I spend a lot of time collecting which is a lot less time I can use for the playing aspect, but if I spend too much time playing and not buying, suddenly that game I thought was 30 bucks is now 100 bucks, and that creates a lot of issues for me as i'm not a rich guy, this stuff takes a long time for me to save money for.

Quote from: Glokas on 01/23/2017, 10:27 AMHello,
. I'm brand spanking new to this awesome site and I not only wanted to say hi, but I also wanted to share my story of owning a TG16 in the Mid 90's. I've also been looking around to finally get a TG16 again, but instead of getting the CD attachment, which I remember was very finicky, I was going to possibly get a PCE Duo or something like that. I was hoping to see if anyone here had suggestions or could maybe point me in the right direction. So yeah, hi everyone, I can't wait to post more and share in the love of Retro gaming, especially the awesome TG16/PCE!!! Here's my story:
So growing up poor in the 80's and 90's (I was born in '81), I was still playing NES and Atari while I watched all my friends get SNES and Genesis consoles, but I at least got to game over their houses while hanging out. But I was fortunate in the way that I got to really check out the latter part of the NES library and play amazing games like Power Blade (my personal favorite) and S.C.A.T. I saw stuff about the TG16 here and there in gaming mags and it fascinated me big time, but it was very obscure and there was no way my mom was going to be able to afford buying it in the store, even when they dropped in price.
. So, I had a good friend that I hung out with a good amount and as fortune would have it, he had an older brother that at one point in time bought the TG16 and a load of stuff for it, including the CD attachment! Those 2 brothers had an SNES and Genesis, so that TG16 was just sitting. He hooked it up fir me one day and I was absolutely floored at the awesomeness of that machine. Every game was so vibrant and unique. I finally got to see and play what I read about over and over. I was in love. At this point, I hadn't even tried the CD portion cause I couldn't stop playing Blazing Lazers (I love Shooters/Shumps/BulletHell games), or Splatterhouse, or Bonk, or Ninja Spirit. This was the Console for ME and I knew it, right away.
. Cut to a month or so later and I had my brother and myself frothing over this Console. I had been trying to buy this whole set up from my buddy's brother, but he would go any lower than $55 for it all. Now, I'm going to list, to the best of my memory, what all I got when I bought it and it'll probably make some people fist pump. But then again, at the time, nobody in the US cared about this system. So, after getting all the money I had saved from my birthday that had recently passed, I sold a few beloved CDs, VHS tapes and an NES cart to a Pawn shop, I had $52 in folding cash and another $3 in change. I actually used two 50 cent pieces out of my rare coin collection. So, he drove over, and brought everything in. Which was more than I knew he had and my brother and I were beyond excited. He took about 5 minutes to show me how everything worked and how to hook it up (which was like all systems back then).
. So here is what we got for $55: The TG16 Console (No back cover, all appropriate OEM wires), the regular OEM controller, a large OEM Joystick controller, The entire CD Attachment with the Turbo CD Hu Card. Now I'm going to list all the games I remember, they all had the Jewel Cases and little cover on the Hu Card games. Ok, Hu Card games: Blazing Lazers, Splatterhouse, Bonk, Ninja Spirit, Dragon Spirit, R Type, China Warrior, TV Sports Baseball and Football, Jackie Chans Action Kung Fu (I think), Super Adventure Island, and 2 other Shooter games I can't remember the titles of though. CD games: Fighting Street, Ys Books 1&2(I think that was the name), Addams Family, and 2 other games I can't remember the titles of either.
. So yes, all that for $55. I felt like the coolest person ever and my brother and I were so happy. I had friends coming over that wanted to see the origin of Street Fighter and just to say they played a Turbografx 16! Plus, at that time the Sega CD had not come out yet or had just come out. So no one I knew had ever played games on CD before. It was a glorious time in my childhood and I appreciate anyone that read through it and, hopefully, enjoyed it.
. All that being said, I'm ready to finally get my TG16 back (I have a few of the CD games still but everything else vanished during a move in the late 90s). I'm also looking to get the PCE of course, since there are tons more games. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I put some cash aside specifically for this, so I'm ready and able. I do want to make sure I go about this the right way though. I don't want to buy a Console that's going to kick a few months after I get it. I'm also going to post alot on the forums and check out the entire site. I just thought before I did anything, I would introduce myself and share my TG16 childhood story. Thanks for listening....Corey

However, fresh moist red rope licorice comes in a pretty damn close 2nd.
Who hasn't dreamed of having one of these in their car? I rest my case.

Quote from: guest on 11/01/2015, 10:32 PMIt's not a misinterpretation by localizations either, in the original arcade version they're called "Albino Raskelt(?) Wolf".I'm sure the translator was thinking of Cerberus, which is understandable.
But that English manual scan is ridiculous for adding an extra head to the description.

About 75 games work off a CD bootable menu. There are varying degrees of bugs, but they're mostly playable. Only games that are 256KB or less can be converted to be played this way since that matches the CD RAM size. But yes, it's possible and the idea obviously started with the Gate of Thunder 4-in-1 CD where Hudson made Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge and Bomberman playable off a CD.
