Quote from: wildfruit on 08/25/2016, 01:15 AMThat's a lovely looking house.
Thanks! It's soon to be painted, so those hail marks on the paint should be gone soon. :D

Quote from: guest on 08/25/2016, 12:21 PMHope it goes quickly for ya!  This is my second roof in as many years as well so I'm a bit peeved about having to pay the deductible again.  Here's my skylight :O

IMG
 Yikes! Which storm was that? Did you lose any windows? I was 100% sure I was going to have busted windows and skylights from the storm that hit at the beginning of June up here, but by some miracle nothing shattered. I'd hate to have to crawl up on the roof after that and tarp that hole!

I'm not ready for this.   My roof is still in shambles from the hailstorm and I need a new skylight  :(
My roof in is similar condition, though after 3 months the contractors finally started working on it today.

I'm definitely ready for fall though!

that kind of makes me wonder how they did the shadow effects on magical chase stage 4.

I'm guessing it's all the same set of dynamic tiles, just a different palette for the shadowed areas.

I finally decided to trade in my GTO for a Chevy SS last October. Yeah, it looks like a Malibu, but I'm actually ok with that. :D It's pretty amazing how much tech has changed in cars in years! A lot of it is cool, but I swear the thing is constantly chiming some alarm or another.

IMG

It has a HUD which I'm convinced is the coolest thing I've ever seen. :D DISCLAIMER: I've never seen a boob, but there's no way it's cooler than this.

IMG

I also had a 2004 Grand Cherokee which was awesome in the snow, but not so awesome in a collision with an F150 in a blizzard. :(

IMG

I'm probably going to have to find another 4WD/AWD for the winter, the SS is a lot of fun to drive, but absolutely terrible in any amount of snow.

Love pumpkin beer! Dry Dock Imperial Pumpkin is my favorite this year.

Not pumpkin, but I miss the kriek! Though I hear rumors it can still be found in some obscure Denver locations.

QuoteOf course, for copper bars and gradients
Ah. I could see that. Might be a pain changing the bg color every scan line, but I could see how it might work...

QuoteThe sky, pipes, ground, there are lots of choices and that can be behind the tile layer and scroll at a different speed than the tile layer.
But this I don't understand. How would the background color 'scroll' ?
Maybe Bonknauts can weigh in on this, and outline how it might be done...
By changing which scan-line the gradient begins. This only gives you vertical scrolling, but it still looks pretty nice.  Watch the gradient behind the castle, but below the clouds @1:20:

IMG
But yeah, we need Bonknuts to weigh in! :D

EDIT: Tried to clarify.

Well, I swore to myself I wouldn't respond to this, and here I am. :(

I don't know the motivations of these two. I don't know if this was their attempt to lash out as pissed off kids, or their personal support for jihad. Hell it could be both. The reality is it doesn't matter. Whatever someone's motivations are for targeting innocents - they are evil.

IMG

To be completely honest, one of the things that pisses me off most about this is the desire to pin this on some group. Seriously, it doesn't fucking matter. Christian? Muslim? Hindu? Atheist? White? Black? Brown? It doesn't fucking matter. Trying to use this to prop up your own belief structure isn't ok. Look at what happened for what it is: a couple of fucks decided to kill innocent people.

You can scream all day that the CST guys missed it. You are right, and I'm sure those guys couldn't feel worse about it. That doesn't mean they were in on it. You can cry that these two are part of the Chechen cell in the US. I don't think that stands to reason either.

Please guys, stop trying to make this something it wasn't.

Even when you made appearences in the chat last time with a room full of ppl who werent even around when this stuff happened all you did was complain about nat and kike and pcefx. I dont think you are capable of "just talking turbo"
Im perfectly capable thats what no one here understands.

As awesome as the English manual is (and it is fucking awesome), I wish the whole thing was more TG style. I'd like to see the back cover being the orange and black recommendations you typically see in US games. The inside front cover and back cover I wish were English too. I'm going to try to whip something up for that. Finally, the rear insert could use some TG-ification! :D I'm attempting to have that done now. :D

Anyway, thanks again to everyone that worked on this. Tremendous effort, awesome product! :D

There's a 2 store chain around here called Doc's Video Games that I enjoy. I really like the people that work there, but I'll confess their prices are generally a bit high. The good news is that they'll work deals with you and have a selection of pretty hard to find stuff, like PC Engine, TG16, Neo Geo and of course SNES, Genesis, NES, etc. Here's a pic of a Vectrex they had:

Quote from: guest on 06/18/2012, 01:55 PMPretty sweet, Sadler!  Are you sure it's a converted Galaga '88 cabinet?  The layout is wrong from the ones I've seen (button layout, monitor orientation, and speaker location), so maybe it's an original cabinet that was originally set up as a Galaga '88 huey.
Well, I've spent some time trying to figure out exactly what I've got on my hands. It doesn't help that I know nothing of arcade games, but I've found some interesting stuff. First, here's a link dump:

neo-geo forum thread with great pics
Manual for hardware
PCEFX thread from some guy that apparently got some portion of the hardware
Most recent PCEFX thread

To address the cab itself, you are right, I don't think this is a Galaga '88 cab. Google image search doesn't show anything like what I've got. What is clear though, is that at least some of this is the United Amusement stuff (more speculation on this later). Compare the controller in these pics:
IMG
IMG

to my controller: /2u6phz6.jpg

The button layout is the same, apparently left/right handed? My controller has a green stick, but that seems pretty minor. My marquee doesn't seem to match the marquee in those pics though.

Anyway, moving on to United Amusement. Anyone know more about these guys? The Galaga sticker on my cab reads "United Artists Theatre Amusements". Is the similarity in name just a coincidence?

Quote from: TheClash603 on 05/31/2012, 09:35 PMI typically don't post pictures of the more expensive stuff I buy, just because I never wanted to come off that way.  Even if my intentions are just to show something, I do feel guilty when I get something more higher priced.

That's why I usually only post pictures of my Street Fighter Penis Pills.
Honestly the past couple pages in this thread inspired me to post my more expensive stuff in the rare thread. Fuck the haters.

IMG

For the record, I enjoy seeing people's stuff. Like the other guy said, I like seeing how they have it stored. What they've done with loose hueys. What stuff they've got that I've never seen before, etc etc...

Quote from: Shrapnoid on 01/26/2012, 09:44 PMMy Fighting Street and Monster Lair spines are Lime-Green. Yellow is suposed to represent RPG's.

I've recently been collecting pics from around the web to see just exactly how many of the cases were done with the classic orange and black labels so I can make a list of them.

The orange and black brings back a lot of the nostalgia for me.
IMG

 I suppose Fighting Street and Monster Lair might have a slight green tint. I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock into colors representing genres. I don't consider Gunboat an RPG. :D

I guess I should attempt to actually contribute something to this thread. When I think back to the games I wanted to play in the 16 bit era, it really was platformers like Bubsy and Earthworm Jim, RPGs like Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy, run 'n guns like Contra, fighting games like SF2 and beat 'em ups like TMNT. I was never too excited about Loom and Beyond Shadowgate or even OotG and Might and Magic. I had games like those on the computer, I wanted "console" games.
