10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Hi guys,

I've gotten into emulation the past month or two.  I'm using Retropie on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+

I've moved all my TG-16 roms over to it and now I'm in the process of scraping the artwork and descriptions.  I've managed to get the scrape to work, but I have found the images to be pretty low-res and the descriptions to be subpar.

Does anyone out there already have higher res images, better descriptions, and/or a gamelist.xml?

I thought I'd ask and see if anyone is willing to share before I re-invent the wheel.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Off-Topic / I'm still around.

Hi guys,

It's been a long time.  I don't think I've visited or posted for over 2 years now, maybe more.  Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hello.  I still see many familiar names and it's nice to see there are some constants in the world.

I have been busy in the pinball world.  A couple years ago I decided to buy my first machine and thanks to some of the good folks here, metal recycling, and selling off baby gear, I finally bought my first pin.  Since then I've had many different pinball machines in my house.  No more than 3 at a time, but they are in constant rotation.  I have found a love for repairing and restoring them and now do this on the side as a bit of a hobby.

I still have my gameroom and it's still filled with TG-16 related items.  I still have my TG-16 w/CD attachment that turbokon modded for me and it's humming along nicely.  I thought of everyone here the other day when I fired up the system and introduced my kids to Bomberman '93.  They enjoyed blowing themselves up more than each other.  We played Magical Chase (emulated), Solder Blade, R-Type, and then fired up the NES and played some Mega Man 2.  My son hasn't played much except for the original Mario Bros. and Marvel LEGO Superheroes on the PS3.  He got extremely frustrated (he's 8 ) with Mega Man until I showed him you can jump and shoot in mid-air.  Stuff you don't think to teach...

Anyway, I am not dead.  I am still lingering around and I hope you don't mind me dropping in like this just to say hello.  Good to see all your familiar faces and I hope you are and your families are all doing well.

Turbo Forever.

I'll stick around for a bit and check out the place.  I've been enjoying reading some of my old PMs.

Hi guys,

As much as this pains me to do, I am thinking of selling my TE w/ hard case.  I need to fund some pinball parts and it's just sitting on a shelf.  Someone should be enjoying it.

Pricing?  I'd like to get $250+shipping, but I'm willing to entertain all reasonable offers.  This will only be sold to someone I have dealt with in the past or a long time veteran of the forum.  Basically, someone I trust.  I would prefer to keep in Canada as shipping to the USA/Internationally has become stupid expensive.  But hey!  If you want to pay for shipping then be my guest.  Item will be insured and tracked.

/uy2s.jpg

Details
- Re-capped by BlueBMW.
- There is a pixel (possibly two) out on the screen.  I will confirm.
- Hard case re-foamed by yours truly.  See thread here for re-foaming details and some additional pics;
https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=15135.0
- Battery compartment is very good.
- Overall condition of TE is very good.
- Overall condition of TE hard case is excellent.

I'm located in Ottawa, Ontario (K2K 1K4) in case you want to estimate shipping.  You will only pay what I pay.

Please let me know if my pricing is out of line.  Wait... This is PCEFX.  I'm sure someone will tell me if it is.   8)

Off-Topic / WTB: Tente Toys
06/01/2014, 11:58 PM
Hi everyone, a while back I made a post asking for help with some 'lego-like' building sets and I didn't receive any replies.  Well I did some more digging and finally found out who made them.  Tente.

So I'm looking to buy old (complete) Tente building sets.  These were similar to LEGO, but not LEGO.  It took me a while to figure out who made them, but now my search is in full swing.

I am looking for naval sets only.  Please contact me if you have anything.  Some examples of what I'm looking for;

--- SOLD.  PAYMENT PENDING. ---

This kind of hurts to sell, but I've been given the green light to buy a pinball machine.  The catch?  I can't use  any of the money in our bank account.  So that means I need to part with a few items to get me where I need to be.

turbokon region modded my TG-16 so it doesn't make sense for me to keep this any longer.  Manual and HU card are in very good shape.  Please take a close look at the pictures.  I took close ups of the 'damaged' areas for our OCD members.  This is the same HU card syphic (sp?) sold me last year or was it 2 years ago?  Anyway... it's up for sale now.

Price;
~ Ideally I would like to get $110 and a PCE Super System 3.0 card.
~ I would accept a cash only deal though.  Say $135?  That would cover the cost of the PCE SS3.0.

I'll cover the cost of shipping unless it's ridiculous.  I will not ship to Puerto Rico.

I'm probably the last guy on the planet to hear about this website, but I finally did find out about it.  I excitedly visited the site and punched "Turbografx" into the search.  Nothing.  Nothing?

Why isn't there any TG, PCE, or NEC related stuff uploaded on this website?

No Bonk cufflinks?
No R-Type tie clip?
No PCE console shaped moneyclip?
No NEC emblazoned logo on an iPhone case?
No TurboGrafx-CD replacement gear?
No TurboGrafx replacement cases or clips?

Why?  Why?  Many of you are much more talented that I am.  Many of you have access to AutoCad that I don't.  There's even an Atari 800 computer flash drive uploaded.  Are you telling me there is more demand for an Atari 800 than the entire NEC console collection?

Disappointed?  You bet I was.

Is there anyone that is planning on creating something for this website?  Heck, I'd even take a Soldier Blade ship tree-topper.  Now that would be awesome!  A retro-gaming themed Christmas tree!
#9
I've been playing Soldier Blade for about a week.  I've managed to complete operation 4 and make it to the final boss of operation 5.  This game is not kicking the shit out of me, but it's difficult.  So that made me wonder, where in the shoot 'em ups of TurboGrafx does Soldier Blade rank?

More difficult that Air Zonk?  Less than Blazing Lasers?  I just want to know where I stand on the suck-o-meter for shooters.

Reposting from another thread.  I thought this was an obvious fix, but maybe it's not?  :-k

Quote from: turboswimbz on 10/20/2013, 07:16 PMMind Sharing? I have a good idea on how you might have done this but I'm interested on how you did it befrore I attempt it if need be, I have a clip going all loose on me.
All you need is;

qty 1 - 1" finishing nail
qty 1 - pair of heavy electrical cutters
qty 1 - Gorilla Glue/Krazy Glue or Epoxy
qty 1 - Hand drill/Electrical drill
qty 1 - Drill bit (same width as the finishing nail)
qty 1 - Hard Shell Case clip.  The clip must be good, no broken mounting holes.

If you have a broken clip, that is to say, you have a intact clip, but the clip mounts are broken this method is a sure fired way to get that intact clip back on your hard shell and working better than new.

The reason the clips on the hard shell case fall off is because they are only held in place with two small plastic mounts.  I'll refer to them as "bumps".  Anytime I've ever gone to open the hard case I press the clips incorrectly.  I feel they were designed upside down.  When you do this you put pressure on the wrong location (the bumps) and often one or both bumps wear off or bust off completely.

You must have an intact clip for this to work.

Step 1 - If the clip hasn't already fallen off, remove it.
Step 2 - Locate the worn bump or the location where the bump was.  You should be able to see it quite easily.
Step 3 - If the bump is badly worn, or only partially broken you need to use a utility knife to remove whatever is there.
Step 4 - Use your drill to drill out a small hole.  This will be quite awkward because of space limitations, but it is doable.  Just be patient.  Make sure to keep the hole small.  You can always start with a smaller bit and go bigger.
Step 5 - Take the finishing nail and insert the pointy end into the hole from the inside of the hard case.  Insert all the way to the head of the nail.  The head of the nail should not be able to fit through the hole you drilled.  If it does you made the hole to big.  Not to worry, you can just find another nail that will work.  This fix is pretty versatile in that way.
Step 6 - With the finishing nail inserted as far as possible into the hole measure off about 2mm-3mm from the head.  This is where you are going to cut the nail.  Basically you are creating your own "bump" at this point to hold the clip in place.
Step 7 - Cut the nail using the electrical cutters.  Reinsert the nail again.  If the "bump" seems to long still remove and cut again.
Step 8 - Mock install the clip onto your newly created "bump".  If the fit seems good then go on to Step 9.
Step 9 - Take your glue, or epoxy and secure the nail in place.  Wait the appropriate time for it to dry.
Step 10 - Install your clip.  You're done!

Optional;

Step 11 - Take a black Sharpy and colour the head of the finishing nail so that it blends in with the case.  You probably won't even see the nail due to it's location, but for those of you that are OCD this really helps.

That's it!

I've over complicated it, but I wanted to be thorough.  I can take pics of my case if anyone wants to see what it looks like.

Hi guys,

I thought I'd put this out there.  A lot of you are my age and collected similar objects in your youth.  So here is one that I need help with.

Back when I was 16 (24 years ago) I use to frequent a local hobby store.  Stacked on the wall with all the snap n' glue model cars, planes, and boats were some model kits, but these were different.  They were models you made out of building blocks.  They may have been compatible with LEGO, but I don't think so (my memory is foggy).  Anyway, the ones I use to buy were all navy ships.  Small aircraft carriers, destroyers, etc.  The aircraft carriers included one piece white airplanes and the destroyers had one piece gun turrets.

I can't for the life of me remember who made this.  I'm assuming Tamiya, or some other model company.  They were not incredibly expensive, and they were built well.  It didn't feel cheap like the knock off LEGO of today.

Anyway, that's all I have to go on.  I can try to answer questions, but really I'm tapped out.  Here is something similar looking, but this is an actual model, not bricks you assemble.  The reason I'm posting it is because the airplanes were a similar type.

Hi all,

I've been out of town on vacation for a couple weeks.  Just getting back now.  I brought along my TE to play while relaxing.  I've never owned a TE in the past and this was my first time really playing it.

I played through Bonk's Adventure right to the end (took me about 3 hours).  As the credits rolled the screen started screwing up (glitching) and then eventually went black.  The sound continued on like nothing had happened.  I turned the TE off, flipped it over and went to take out the batteries.

The batteries were HOT.  They were so hot I couldn't hold even one in the palm of my hand.  I was using standard Alkaline AA batteries.  3 Energizer, and 3 generic Radio Shack ones.

Having never owned a TE I don't know if this is normal.  I played it non-stop for 3 hours before the LCD screen started cutting out on me.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Is this typical?

The one I'm looking at has a very good box, all the baggies, styrofoam, and some of the paperwork.  I want to put an offer in, but I don't want to insult the person.  A loose TG16 can be had for about $50 around here with a TurboPad and 3 to 5 common's tossed in.  I'm thinking in-box is around $200, but is that realistic?  I mean I can get a loose TG16 for $50 so that means the box brings the value up another $150?!

Wouldn't $100-$150 be more accurate?

So a while back, a member here by the name of playthegame119 outbid me by $4 on an eBay auction for a TG lot.  I didn't want anything in the lot, except for the Turbo Express hard case.  I already have the TurboGrafx-16 console case, so I really wanted the matching Turbo Express hard case.  Well, I decided to contact playthegame119 and make an offer on the case.  I made what I thought was a fair offer and we both agreed to the deal.

The case arrived and the foam was in pretty rough shape (I had been warned about this prior to sealing the deal).  It wasn't this rough upon arrival, but the photo captures how brittle the foam was.  It was not recoverable.
/h4kx.jpg

So I decided to tear out the remaining foam.  It was just held in with spray glue.  It was a mess, but the hard case came out nice and clean.
/4mcb.jpg

Different types of foam are readily available to me at my place of work.  I was able to source some 1" black plastic foam that was going to be thrown out.
/9bew.jpg

I took some measurements off the TE hard case, and and made up a quick template.  Then I found dead center and cut a properly sized piece out of the larger piece.  The last photo shows a properly cut piece in the lid of the TE hard case.
/1vd4.jpg

/sgy2.jpg

/s3hy.jpg

I took a OLFA box cutter knife, and cut out the pattern.  I made sure to round the corners to match the shape of the TE.  Since the foam I had was only 1" thick I had to cut the pattern out twice and then stack the foam on top of each other to bring it up to the 2.5" depth of the base of the TE hard case.  The bottom piece was a little wider than the top piece so I had to make sure to align them correctly.  It was still a little too low so I had to cut one of the 1" pieces of foam in half giving me another .5" inches of foam.  That brought it up to proper height.

/s2oh.jpg

/7bl2.jpg

/mjhw.jpg

/jba8.jpg

Here's the final product assembled.  I think I'm going to re-cut the .5" bottom.  I sort of just mocked it up with two tiny .5" pieces of foam and I don't like the visible seam.
/jvxt.jpg

All that's left to do is drop in my NEW TURBO EXPRESS that arrived today from BlueBMW after being recapped!  Check it out!

Here it is all closed up, and the money shot with it's bigger brother!

Loose, boxed, used, new, I don't care.  As long as it wasn't part of a sewer back-up and it still works.  Actually I don't even care if it was in a sewer back-up.  It just needs to work.

I'm located in Canada.  Please see my signature for possible trades.

Thank you!

Off-Topic / Fucking PayPal...
06/13/2013, 11:41 AM
When did Paypal start charging 1% for sending money (gifted)?  Has it always been this way?  Jesus... I thought eBay was bad enough with all their stupid fees, but then you tack on Paypal on top of that and I really don't understand how a Seller can make any money.  Oh, and that's just 1% if the money comes out of your account.  If it comes off your credit card it's 4%-5%.

For those of you in the USA, do your banks use Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), or Electronic Money Transfer (EMT)?  It allows you to send money from one bank account to another bank account over email.  The banks don't even have to be the same.  I can send money online from my ING Direct account, to any one of the 5 big Canadian banks or to any of the smaller Credit Unions.  There is no fee (at least through my bank).

Is this possible to do in the USA?  I know your banking system is different there.  I'm just wondering why, as a community, we are still putting up with Paypal?  I would easily send an EFT to anyone located in the USA if it was available.

What do you use in the USA?

Hi everyone, I need your assistance in troubleshooting my possibly dead TG-16.  I may have killed it, but the short story is my TG-16 no longer works.  I refuse to admit defeat on this.  The TG-16 MB is not complex, so the fix must be eluding me.  One side of the MB consists of the HUcard slot, and solder.  The other side is laced with components.  So where do I start troubleshooting?

The HUcard slot looks good.  I've tested the connectivity from the inside of the HUcard slot to the MB.  None of the pins are broken, all connectivity is good.  The fuse looked good, but I tested it anyway, it passes.  The fuse is good.  Visually there are no burns, bad solder points, or broken connections.  It has to be something right in front of me, but I just can't see it.

The only thing I can't test are the IC's.  I can test to see if they are getting 5V power, but that's pretty much it.  The pins are pretty tight and I don't want to power up the MB and short anything out while measuring voltage.  I have to assume they are okay.

The TG-16 sits in a TG-CD docking base.  Always has.  I insert a game and the TV stays blank (white).  I tried another HUcard and it's the result is the same.  So the TG-16 either just fried two HUcards or something is wrong with the TG-16.  There is no video or sound.

I would like to eliminate the TG-CD docking base from the equation.  I was thinking of plugging the power supply from the base directly into the TG-16, and then using an RF adapter for it.  Unfortunately I don't have a TG-16 RF adapter.  Questions;

1) What RF adapters work with the TG-16?  I don't mind going out and buying one either.
2) Are there any Test Points on the TG-16.  I didn't see any obvious TP# labels on the MB.
3) Are there any schematics available around here?

Thank you for your time.

I bought a region chip off BlueBMW a few weeks ago.  I went to install it tonight, but the security bit I tried to use is too small.  The one I have was purchased for opening NES cartridges, but doesn't work with the TG-16. :(

I don't really want to buy another bit off eBay.  I could, but I'd rather not because it'll take forever to be shipped to me.  Does anyone have any tricks for removing these screws?  Homebrew tools?

I'm just curious, those of you that actually own MC, why don't you sell it?  Nowadays, it's a sellers market for rare games  It's also been debated here that it's not the greatest game in the world.  Ignoring whether it is a good or not so good game... it's a quick sell for at least $1500, maybe more.  I'm not hard up for cash, but $1500+ for a single game?

So those of you that own it, what are the reasons you are still holding onto it?

What the hell is going on this year?  I'm sick in December, I'm sick in January, now I'm sick again.  And not just your standard throat cold sick, but full blown fever with chills flu symptoms!  Are the Americas under biological attack and I just wasn't told about it?  God damn it!

Back when I was a kid, the best gift my Dad got me was an 8' x 4' sheet of plywood.  I painted that sucker green, and painted a blue river that led to a lake in the middle.  Around it I put a AFX slot car track, sprinkled sand near the banked turns, bought moss from a local hobby store to make makeshift trees, and shrubs.  I'd cut "Coke" ads out of magazines and make billboards with them.  I had access to all 4 sides of the track, and that sheet of plywood monopolised one section of the unfinished basement.  I remember spending entire days down in the basement.  Taking apart the slot cars, cleaning the bushings, swapping the bodies.  I even cleaned the track with some special un-oxidizing eraser.  I'm really not sure what that thing did.  My Dad must have loved it.  He always knew where I was, and it inspired a lot of creativity.

Whew... Now that I've relived my past, I'm thinking of getting into it again.  I've been looking at the slot car tracks on Carrera.com and man, slot cars have changed a ton since the old AFX days.  It looks awesome!  I'm looking to buy a starting kit and then buy pieces to make it my own, but I haven't decided on a scale of track/car to go with.  I've only looked at Carrera to date.

Is anyone else on the forum into slot cars?  Any manufacturers I should be looking at, or anything you can tell me about your preferences in track/cars/manufacturers?

I bought a 100 pack of hu sleeves from Seymor Onion.  I've been swapping out the dirty sleeves for his reproductions.  I've also been swapping out the textured ones just to keep everything in sync.  I have about 15+ of them.  Maybe even 20+ textured hu sleeves.  I kept the clean ones and some of the lightly discoloured ones.

I'll offer them up for free to anyone that I've already completed a transaction with.  All I ask is a $5 to cover shipping and my time.

Off-Topic / EMS versus Surface
10/09/2012, 12:10 PM
I'm thinking of buying something from Japan, but shipping is expensive.  I don't mind using Surface shipping and waiting the 2-3 months.  It saves me money ($50), and I like that.  The EMS option is $100.

Is there anything else I should know about getting something shipped from Japan?  Anything else I should know about Surface shipping?  This will be my first time using EMS/Surface.  Please help me bust my cherry.

If anyone has one of these for sale with a controller, please let me know.  I don't really care about the box, but it'd be a bonus.

This thread is for auctions on turbo items where the seller just creates a bad listing.  It's not about gouging, it's just about people that take photos with their thumb in the photo, half their living room in the photo, or a description that is completely unreadable.

As a kid gamepads always hindered me.  I can tap the shit out of buttons with my left hand.  Unfortunately standard gamepads were always made with the buttons on the right.  As a kid I often played games with my hands crossed over each other.  My right on the directional pad and my left on the buttons.  The controller would have to sit on the floor for me to do this.  For games like Gun.Smoke playing this way I was more accurate and could kill the bad guys more quickly.  Unfortunately it wasn't very comfortable sitting like that and my control of the d-pad was less accurate with more precision moves.  As a kid I just adapted and dealt with it.  As an adult, I call "bullshit" on this.  I don't want to put up with it any longer.  I've decided to take one of my TurboPads apart to see what makes it tick.  I'm going to reverse the layout so that the buttons are on the left.  The order of the buttons will be identical except they'll be on the left side.

I've been thinking of materials.  The only thing I've really been able to think of is using clear acrylic, or plexiglass.  I thought it would be neat to be able to see the internals.

Has anyone ever modded a gamepad from a right-hand config to a left?  Oh, and yes I know of some controllers out there with buttons on both sides, but I really don't want to purchase another controller.  I like the whole project aspect of this.

I may have an opportunity to buy a TE.  The screen has a dead pixel.  turbokon could replace the the screen for $45.  So if I pay $75 for the TE do you think that's too much?  I don't have any experience with TE.  If the pixel is the only issue, then I feel it's a fair price but I wanted to hear what others had to say.

Oh, and what else should I be aware of if I'm purchasing a used TE?

I have approximately 900 comics all from the Modern Age.  Early 90's stuff.  Marvel, DC, Independent.  The collection has been kept in proper bags with proper backboards and in proper comic storage boxes for 20 years.  I occasionally look through them and read the odd series, but overall each comic is very fine to near mint and more than likely even some mint.

Before I put them on eBay I thought I would ask if anyone here is interested in trading.  If there are specific issues you are looking for just ask in this thread and I'll take a quick look and give you a yes or a no answer.  I'm not looking to get rich so this is your chance to get some decent deals on back issues you might be missing.

I also have some comic cards.  I think there are two complete sets.  Here are some quick pics;

I missed out on the BONK 3 auction because I didn't have this up in time.  Sparky may be off his medication and accidentally auction off Magical Chase next and there is no way I'm missing out on that one!  So here goes...   :wink:

This raffle is for the U.S. version of Shockman w/manual (no box).  The manual has a 5 digit number written on the back of it in black Sharpie pen, but other than that it is in excellent condition.  Winner pays shipping, but I'll ship anywhere.

Only a few rules for this raffle.  [UPDATED!]

  • You must have 100 posts.
  • Raffle will close to entrants at EOD, August 14th.  I will make the draw on August 15th.
  • This game/manual must remain within this community.  I do not want to see it on eBay.  If you decide not to keep it, you must raffle it off.

Good luck!

I have to give storino03 credit for this idea.  I think it's obvious that many of us watch eBay like hawks.  I'm sure in many cases, quite a few of us are bidding on the same item and driving the prices up on each other.  Well the idea of this thread is to let people know what you are bidding on.  Having this information will allow us to keep prices down.  Sure you can still battle it out with another forum member to bid on something, but in a lot of instances I throw a bid out and if I win I win.  However, if I knew someone else here really wanted to win the item then I would gladly back off and wait.

For example, this auction ends in 2 hours;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170879887542?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1238

I plan on trying to win it, but it's not a big loss to me if I don't.  I would gladly take a seat on the sidelines if anther PCEngineFX member wants it.

I don't know if this thread will take off or not, but I thought it would be a good idea.  If anything, it allows us to better communicate and notify each other of a potentially bad Seller, or something we may or may not have caught in the description.

Another good example for this thread would be the $90 BIN for DEII that recently slipped by us.  I would have gladly purchased this for the BIN price to resell it to someone here.

I decided to organise the repair guides.  As a new comer, walking into the TG/PCE Repair/Mod Discussion thread was quite overwhelming.  There is a ton of great information within this section of the forum and some excellent step by step repairs/mods.  I felt that a table of contents would help organise the information so nothing is lost and maybe help alleviate some of the stickies which are starting to stack up.

Hi everyone, I recently bought New Adventure Island.  It came with the box, in what I have to assume is the original shrink-wrap.  The shrink-wrap is 'crisp' for the lack of a better word.  It's cracked in spots and seems like it's melted in other spots.  Overall I think the box is in fine shape considering it's age.

Anyway, I noticed the residue from some sticker glue on the front.  I'm assuming there was probably a price sticker there at one point.  What really has me curious though is this orange sticker on the side.  It's actually on the box underneath the shrink wrap.  So if the shrink-wrap is original, then how did this sticker get under it?  Does 3112 have some sort of significance?  Is it Hudson Soft's factory inventory label?  I'm not a box collector so I don't know anything about factory stickers.

I'm curious to know if anyone has any info on this or has seen anything similar on a box they've come across.  I find the history of TG-16 fascinating so I'm wondering if there is any history behind this.

Here is the orange sticker/decal;

Here's the front.  You can see the round sticker residue in the top right corner.

With the help of KC (Keith Courage) I managed to get my broken CD unit up and running again.  Unfortunately, after powering it up I discovered one of the LEDs was burnt out.  Now I know this isn't a big deal.  I mean, how often do you look at the LED display on the CD unit?  Well, it's bothering me.  I don't like that my precious TG-CD is not displaying the numbers correctly.

Here's what it looks like with the number 19 displayed.  Looks good right?
IMG

Well not so much so when you get to track 20.

So I decided to desolder it and bring in down to my local electronics shop.  Unfortunately for me, they only carried single disply, not the dual's.  Here is what it looks like out of the TG-CD;

I would like to fix this.  On to my options;

1) Does any have a busted beyond repair TG-CD for sale with a working LED display?
2) Does any one have a spare 7 segment dual display kicking around?
3) Does any one know the dimensions of the 7 segment dual display in the TG-CD?  I don't have a digital ruler handy.
4) Could someone point me to a possible vendor on the internet for a replacement.  Yes, I'm familiar with Google, but I'm hoping someone has experience with ordering electronics of this type online.

Thanks in advance.

However, I'm not a PC Engine guy.  I barely have a handle on TG-16 prices, but this lot looks like a great deal to me.  Could I get your thoughts on this?  I don't have a PC Engine so this would be a great way to get into all the Japanese games I missed out on as a kid.

[EDIT] Looking at it again, there are a lot of sports games.  If I take my TG-16 knowledge and apply it to this sale then those games are not worth much except for SF3.

Hi everyone, I've been wanting to buy both of these games since I started collecting back in March.  I managed to snag both off eBay, Alien Crush for $8.99 and Devil's Crush for $19.99 (I know I overpayed) but I never received the games.  I've filed a claim through eBay and PayPal which is still being worked out.

Anyway, the point is, I'm still looking for both of these games Devil's Crush.  I would be willing to pay $10 for either one and I will cover the shipping costs.  I'm looking for both compete in case with manual.  I don't need the original box.

The ad says TurboGrafx, but the hu card has "PC" on it.  Neither the PCE or TG-16 have artwork like this on their hu cards.  Is it even part of the NEC family?

I haven't been able to find one of these in my hometown, or at a reseller near me.  This leaves eBay, but I know how inflated the pricing can get.  So I need some help.  I never had one of these in the '90's, so I have no idea what they were worth then or what they are worth now.  What's the typical price on a TurboStick? New/Used?  Thanks.

BTW, I'm seeing auctions ending with $30 sale prices, but shipping is stupid at $30 too.  Is $60 unreasonable on a (new) TurboStick?

[EDIT] Here's a example of a BIN for $36 CAD, with $26 CAD shipping.

I wasn't sure where to put this.  It doesn't fit into the Non-NEC Console, or Homebrew Development categories, and I wanted it to include all things PC-FX, PC-Engine/SuperGrafx and TG-16/TE/TurboDuo.

The idea of this thread isn't to say "In your face!  I have this!", well...  It is and it isn't.  I am very interested to see other peoples collections.  How people have them displayed, what bookcase or shelves you use.  How you store your duplicates.  How many different consoles you have and how you keep the wiring under control.  This is a place to show off your collection, show off something you are building/restoring, show off your game room (man cave), show off a unique NEC piece, or share a great way to store/display something that you came up with.

I'll post a picture of my setup later this evening.  It is guaranteed not to blow you away.  In fact, it may make some of you very sad.  Perhaps sad enough to send money my way.  :P  For now, I'll give an outside example to get the ball rolling.  This item belongs to tmlfan over on cgcc.ca.  I would love to get my hands on a TurboGrafx-16 kiosk like this.

I stumbled upon this today.  It looks like they take data from eBay, Amazon, and Half.com (eBay affiliate) and then chart the pricing of video games over the period of 4 years.  I'm not sure how they calculate the "used" and "new" condition prices.

It's interesting to see what Zonk sold for the past 4 years, but this kind of thing misrepresents the actual 'fair' cost of games.

I've only been collecting for a couple of months, but already I've managed to obtain 6 extra copies of Keith Courage.  Most times, the seller I'm trying to procure games from has a copy included in the bundle he or she is selling.  Want these 6 games?  Alright, but you get another copy of Keith Courage.  It's a throw away or freebie game to most.

So two questions:

1) How many copies of Keith Courage do you have in your collection?
2) What the heck do you do with them or have you done with them?

I've been thinking of making a clock with a Keith Courage TurboChip replacing each of the numbers.  The 3, 6, 9, 12 would be face up and the rest would be face down.  Here's an example of the clock hands that could be used:
