I am looking for complete with outer box copies of these 2 games.

Should any of you be willing to sell these, let me know.
#52
For what it's worth, I think the two sections should remain separate.

Aside from discussions about differences between games released on both formats,  it seems to me that most posts are specific to only one
  system.

It's probably also less confusing this way for someone who isn't familiar with both systems.

I do have a complete boxed Silent Debuggers if you're interested.

I also have doubles of some of those other games as well, but I've left them behind in Japan and I am in Canada at the moment.  If you absolutely
have to have them now, I can check with my family in Japan ( I know I have Ninja Spirit and Legendary Axe II, not 100% sure about Dead Moon
 and Cyber-Core).

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone on this board living in the United States could help me by buying some games from Turbo Zone Direct on my behalf and forwarding them to me in Japan.

I have also received the e-mail from TZD, and it sounds as if this may be my last chance to purchase some of the US games I am missing.  However, TZD can no longer process foreign credit cards, and I am living in Japan.

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.  I could pay the person helping me using Paypal.

   giapponese.
#56
I didn't realise this game sold for so much?!
#57
I really like both Naxat and Irem games, however Photograph Boy tips the scale in favour of Irem for me, as it is one of the five games I most enjoy on
 the Pc-engine.
#58
Well it seems I have been wasting your time and won't be getting any games after all.

I placed an order with TZD today and apparently they can no longer ship overseas.

It seems they switched credit card processors and the new processor doesn't accept foreign sales.

This is extemely disappointing, I was really looking forward to getting some games after receiving their e-mail regarding the blowout sale.

Anyhow, thanks for the input regarding the games I was hoping to get.
#59
Yes, the one I want to buy is Theron's quest, I have been thinking of getting it for sometime.  Please don't tell me it's worse than the other three.
#60
I am thinking of taking advantage of the TZD sale however I am not sure which of these to get as a free game:

        - Ballistix
        - Power Golf
        - Sim Earth

Any suggestions?  These games seem to be loathed by most people, however I have all the other ones apart from John Madden Football but I don't
   understand Gridiron/ American Football unfortunately.

I am thinking of getting Ballistix at the moment as it seems interesting, is it the wrong choice?
#61
I enjoy it a lot, it's probably my favourite strategy game on the Turbo.

It can get a bit repetitive, but the feudal Japan setting really appeals to me.  Usually games like this are only available in Japanese, which makes it
  somewhat unique.

It can be found for quite cheap, so if you enjoy strategy games, it's probably worth acquiring.
#62
It's true that the bulk of the really good games are probably on Super CD format, however I still think the Supergrafx is worth getting.

Aldynes is a personal favourite, and Daimakaimura and 1941 are nice games as well.  The Supergrafx attaches nicely to the Super Cd rom attachment

and, although a bit bulky, I think it's nice to have a setup that allows you to play absolutely anything in the Pc-engine library.

#63
A few games come to mind:

  - Splatterhouse ( the flying cross was removed in the US release, and the mask is red, other than that I didn't notice any differences)

  - the Bonk/ PC Genjin games ( Bonk's transformation is different to PC Genjin's when he eats meat....not sure if this was changed in all three games)

  - Cratermaze ( the characters are from Booby Kids, and completely different to those in the PC Engine Doraemon game)

  - JJ& Jeff (the characters have been changed from Kato& Ken, and some aspects were changed: farting/ spray can etc...)

  - Magical Chase seems to have different backgrounds ( probably nicer) in the US version, although I haven't been able to track down a copy.

  - Psychosis, the levels are in a different order to those in Paranoia, the alien no longer tells you to fuck off.

  - R-Type was made into one game for the US, rather than part 1 and 2.

  - Sinistron, again some of the levels were switched around, slightly different to Violent soldier.

That's all I can think of as far as very noticeable differences are concerned, but I am sure some changes were probably made to other games as well.

#64
Yes, you can indeed pick some things up quite cheap on Yahoo auctions in Japan.  I am in Japan at the moment and just purchased a boxed 3DO system for 610 Yen last night ( about 5 US dollars).

I find myself buying a few things I would never have bought otherwise.

Anyhow, as someone mentionned, it is indeed rather difficult if you are outside Japan, as you can't use a foreign credit card, and most sellers won't ship outside the country anyway; however, some do, so it's still worth having a look at what's available now and again.  You will notice a small message in English beneath the item which you are viewing that says "Seller will ship internationally" or "Seller will not ship internationally", whatever the case may be.

Another solution is to do all your purchasing when in Japan, if you happen to visit from time to time.

Actually I am quite sure Data West were also responsible for the Psychic Detective series but I haven't played any of those.
#66
The only games I know of from Data West are the Rayxanber series but I get the feeling they may have released something else as well for the Pc-engine, can't remember what it might be though.  I don't know who they are/were but they seem to have been a very small company completely unrelated to Data East.
#67
I've never played the NES version, but the Pc-engine Double Dragon 2 is one of my favourite games ever.  You're definitely missing out broe.
#68
I also quite like Override, it's one of those shmups that goes unnoticed but is actually a lot of fun.  Most of the games made by Data East for the Pc engine are actually really good, at least I like them, with the possible exception of Drop Off/ Drop Rock Hora Hora.  It's a shame they didn't make more games really, I would have liked to see something from them on CD.
#69
I suppose it depends on how complete the games are.  Generally speaking though, I think you are likely to get more by selling the games separately.  If you have complete boxed games ie. with absolutely everything they originally came with ( instructions, case + cardboard box-with the exception of Loom of course which didn't have one), they should fetch a very good price on their own on Ebay, especially Devil's Crush, so I would definitely sell them separately unless they are loose Hu-cards.

Your system, seeing as you still have the original box, will fetch a good price regardless.  That's my opinion anyhow.
#70
Keranu's comment about Final Zone 2 is interesting, I wonder if only certain batches may have been released with the white case?  I am positive about mine having come with a white case as it was purchased brand new and sealed, however it is a Canadian release, perhaps this has something to do with it?

#71
What does everyone think of this game?  As one of the rarer SCD games, is it worth tracking down?

The reason I am asking is I have never played any Might and Magic game, but I do enjoy role-playing games so long as they are not too drawn out
   and tedious.

Which is the better one to get, Might and Magic 3, or Order of the Griffon?
#72
Yes, the white cases for Final Zone 2 and Valis 2 are normal, I have the same and bought them both new and sealed.  The reason I was wondering about Godzilla is because I have never seen one on a SCD game, although some of them boxed CD games had them.
#73
On Hu-card I also think Bonk 3 was the last release as it is the only one packaged with the TTI Duo logo on the box.  If Magical Chase was the last release I suspect it would have had similar packaging, although I could be wrong I suppose.  Magical Chase is certainly the rarest of the two, but isn't that simply because it was less popular and hence sold less copies?

As far as the last CD release is concerned, I am really not sure, but my guess would be Bonk 3 CD.

On Pc-engine it is definitely Dead of the Brain on CD (1999), and 21 EMON ( December 1994) on Hu-card.
#74
I was wondering whether anyone who has this game in its US incarnation ( Turbo Duo) can tell me if this game comes with a white rather than a black CD case?

I am asking this because I see one for sale on Ebay but it looks peculiar as I have never seen a US SCD release with a white case, and I suspect the case may have been swapped.

Also, if anyone is selling this game please get in touch.

I get the impression these stories about the Neo CDZ burning up are a load of kak.

I've had my CDZ for a long time now and used it extensively, and I have never experienced any problems whatsoever.  I suspect these are just false rumours that have been spread for the wrong reasons, and I certainly would encourage anyone who enjoys Neo Geo Cd games to acquire an Neo Geo CDZ system, as it's definitely a great step up from the two other Cd systems (faster, a lot more compact, and made from more solid materials).
#76
I actually enjoy Batman, that review seems particularly harsh.  I like the Defunct games website, it's well designed and interesting, however I often find their reviews to be way off the mark, at least for my taste.

They give some of the best Pc-engine games really poor scores, for example:  Jackie Chan's Action Kung fu and Neutopia 2 get 50%, yet Night Creatures gets a score of 60% and Ballistix 80 %!

I actually recently acquired Night Creatures, and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised and found it somewhat enjoyable, a lot better than what I had heard about it, however it's definitely not in the same league as Jackie Chan.

    Hello all,
I am leaving Canada and returning to my home country of South Africa at the end of June, and have decided not to take my video game collection with me due to the risk of theft.  My stuff will be kept at my mother-in-law's in Japan pending a solution.

Anyhow, to cut a long story short, I have started making backup copies of my CD games which I will be taking with me.
I have been following the instructions on the Necstasy website (using CDR Win to make a .bin image of the game) and then Daemon Tools combined with Clone CD to burn the game.  I have made 4 so far and the copies seem to be perfect.  If the owner of the website is on this forum, thank you so much, your website is very useful!

I realise this is perhaps not the best place to ask this question, but I was wondering:  is the procedure for burning NEO GEO CD games the same as for Pc engine CD games?  If it can be done with relative ease, I would like to burn my Neo Geo CD games as well once I am done with the Pc engine stuff.

I am not much of a computer buff, so if anyone here can explain the procedure, it would be much appreciated.

                                                                                    Best regards, Cho_Aniki

Awesome, yeah we went back and bought all the $10 games they had over the next few months, but it was only a handful more and they weren't very good- just stuff like Tricky Kick.

I reckon Tricky Kick is great fun, albeit very tricky indeed.

I definitely think Dynastic Hero is the best version of Wonder Boy in Monster World, I like the character design and the music is fantastic.

I also agree as far as Forgotten Worlds is concerned.

R-Type is also best on Turbo, the SMS version is good however.

Another game that comes to mind is Shinobi, although the Arcade is much better, I think the Pc engine got the better port.

Hello there,
can anyone tell me how to get through the pit with all the floating ninjas on level 7 of Ninja Spirit.  I got there last night and must have tried over a hundred times but I always get sliced up before reaching the bottom.

If anyone knows how to beat this part, please explain.
#81
Sorry nodtveidt, I hadn't noticed your post.  I am really not sure how much a complete Neutopia sells for, so I don't really know what to ask for it.  If you are still interested, you can make me an offer you think is fair.  I will only charge actual cost for shipping.

                                                                                              Regards, Cho_aniki
#82
Are Bonk 3 Hu-card and Bonk 3 Cd exactly the same game?  Which one do you blokes recommend?  What exactly is the versus mode on the Cd version of the game?
#83
I have a Neutopia I can sell.  It has instructions and case, however the case has a crack and scratches on the front ( where the instructions go).  I
don't need it anymore as I have a second copy, if you need one in better condition I am sure someone on this forum must have one, as the first
Neutopia is fairly common.  If you can't find a better one however I will gladly sell it to you.
#84
Yes, from memory I think Soldier Blade only saves high scores, which is a shame really.

I finished Tiger Road for the first time last night, I had been playing it for the last month or so.  It's the first game I have played for which I can truly
say I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all had I not had a Turbo Booster Plus.  I picked it up and played it a couple times a week and gradually got further
and further into the game.  I must have used my backup about a hundred times before finally defeating the last boss.

I wish more Turbo games made use of the Backup memory, especially some of the action/adventure games, some of which, at least for me, are
difficult to beat in one sitting.

I've just come across the list vestcunt wrote about.  I added 2 more to the list because they weren't included and I know for a fact they
DO save. If anyone knows of any others please let me know. US Hu-Cards that save using the Turbo Booster Plus or Turbo CD/Duo are the following:

                           Andre Panza Kick Boxing
                           Bomberman
                           Bomberman 93'
                           Champions Forever Boxing
                           Chew Man Fu
                           Cratermaze
                           Davis Cup Tennis
                           Devil's Crush
                           Dragon's Curse
                           Falcon
                           Gunboat
                           Jack Nicklaus Turbo Golf
                           Neutopia
                           Neutopia 2
                           Night Creatures
                           Order of the Griffon
                           Parasol Stars (my addition)
                           Soldier Blade
                           Super Volleyball
                           Tiger Road
                           Timeball
                           World Sports Competition
                           Yo'Bro (my addition)

If this list is complete it would mean a total of 23 HU Cards have save capability.

Games that do not save but use passwords:

                            Boxy Boy
                            Cybercore
                            Double Dungeons
                            Dungeon Explorer
                            Final Lap Twin
                            Impossamole
                            King of Casino
                            Military Madness
                            Sonic Spike
                            Tricky Kick
                            Tv Sports Basketball
                            Tv Sports Football
                            Tv Sports Hockey
                            World Court Tennis

"Spelt" is also the correct form for us South Africans,  what is the american equivalent?

Veigues is meant to be pronounced like the english word "vague" with a "z" sound at the end.  In fact the katakana spelling is exactly the same as
for the english word vague except for the ズ(z) at the end.

I also think the words Tactical Gladiator in the title sound lekker ( South African for very very very good).
#87
Actually, you don't need a Turbografx.

Apparently Night Creatures is the only US HuCard that works on a Pc Engine.

#88
Sorry for the double post, I actually forgot to mention something.   I have found some info on the internet which says the Night Creatures
HuCard can work on a regular Japanese Pc Engine.

     Can anyone confirm this?

     Hello all,
I've been thinking of getting the game Night Creatures lately, does anyone have this game and is it any fun?

I have heard people saying it is flawed and the controls are terrible, but it just seems like the type of game I usually like so I would
                  really like to try it.

Despite the flaws and all, is the game any fun to play or is it a game that one should avoid at all costs?

I know of one other, but there aren't many.  The market for videogames is rather limited in SA because for some reason import permits for videogames are difficult to obtain.  Apparently the Xbox 360 will be coming out (or perhaps it already has during my absence), but the first XBox for example never did because Microsoft did not obtain permission.  The only stuff you could get when I left home in July 2006 were Playstation 2 and that portable Playstation thingey ( I think Sony must have bribed the SA Revenue Service).

As a child, the only system I had was an Atari 7800.  To my knowledge, the Pc-engine or Turbo were never sold in South Africa.  The first time I saw one was on my first trip to Japan in the nineties.  Needless to say, I've been hooked ever since!
#91
 Well,
I am working in Canada for a year, but seeing as I am South African and going home with my Turbografx in three months, I will add my name to the map.
#92
Have you beaten it Keranu?  How many levels does this game have?
#93
Since we are discussing Batman, does anyone here know the different level passwords for the game?  I played it a few months ago and got to the chemical factory level, and today I realised I don't have a password to start there again.  The game is very long, too long to finish in one sitting, at least for my taste.
#94
Ok, thanks for the info guys.  I think I will try to track down a US copy of the game.  It sounds like a really good game.
#95
I have been reading your posts on this site, and quite a few of you seem to think Psychosis is a decent shooter.

I am thinking of buying it, however I would like to know which version to buy, Psychosis (US) or Paranoia (Jap) ?

Does anyone know of the differences between the 2 versions?

How much censorship is present in the US version?  Is the alien that gives you the finger still present at the end of each stage?

If anyone has played both versions, please let me know which one you thought was best.

Does anyone have the Pc engine version of this game and if so, what is it like?

Also, do any of you know approximately how much it sells for?

Hello there,
I would like to know whether anyone has played this game, and if so, your opinions about it ?

I've read a few reviews and everyone seems to think the game is very hard and frustrating.

I think the game looks interesting however I wouldn't want to get it if it is so hard as to be virtually unplayable.
