10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Buy/Sell/Trade / FS Jag CD games
08/05/2016, 08:48 PM
I have a boxed Memory Card (missing instructions) and 4 complete games. Dragon's Lair (disc has one little blemish), Myst (a couple light scratches on disc), Baldies (some light scratches and Highlander (disc mint). The boxes show wear whether it's a wrinkle or bowing of the cardboard box. Asking $130+pp fee shipped in the US only.

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB TG-16 power supply
04/05/2015, 10:53 AM
Hey guys,

As some of you may have noticed I picked up a TG-16 recently without an original power supply. I'm looking for one if you have an extra. I just would like one that's working so beat up looking is fine.

On a side note, is there a recommended alternative ps for the time being?

    I have a couple of Chinese Famicom 400 - 1 carts I don't need.

xcrement5x's post below covers most of my thoughts.

Quote from: guest on 02/25/2015, 05:47 PMI will borrow slightly from haboobi since I liked his rules:

  • Minimum Post count of 100
  • If I don't like your avatar, your signature, or your attitude here fuck it you're out.
I can't think of anyone's avatar, sig or attitude that I dislike enough to enforce that rule atm.

If the winner(s) don't want the cart, they can choose another member for me to send it to.
Shipping is free in the US. If you live elsewhere, I'll chip in $5 towards the S&H if you provide the rest.

Here's a review/list of the games

http://somerussianmariodude.blogspot.com/2014/02/400-in-1-real-game-famicom-review.html

Here's a pic of the three I have, one of which I use with a 60-72 adapter and the two up for grabs.

And here's the pic

I may change the pic (unless there's a good response) if it's too offensive.
The first cart will be given away on March 6th.

The second on March 13th.

Make me laugh [/list]

A member at NG.com MidnightMonkey has created a detailed guide for installing a RHEA in a Model 1 Saturn (20 pin CD drive).

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?257098-Sega-Saturn-Rhea-Comprehensive-Guide&p=3856147#post3856147

It's a little pricey but so are some of the better games on the Saturn.

MidnightMonkey makes me think I could install one :P

No hairdryer is needed for the installation...

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?254580-PCE-TG-Project-BoostMasta

Quote from: NeoTurfMastaBeen working on this off and on for about a year now and I think its pretty much finished.  Its basically a new TurboBooster + or Tennokoe Bank system for PCE and TG systems.  TurboBoosters and Tennokoe Banks were used as a memory card for games that supported this feature.  High scores, levels, etc were saved.  There is a list of games that support it somewhere.

IMG

The original TB+ and Tennokoe used 2k of battery backed up SRAM.  Similar to Neo, but it required a custom Hudson chip for it to work.  Well, I found a source for these and thought I'd make a new version.  All NOS chips, nothing is sacced to make this project.

Mine has the standard AV out, and it also has the 9pin DIN for RGB out.  This pic doesnt show it, but I wired up broken's RGB amp and wired it to Omega RGB pinout.

It also has 16 separate banks of 2k FRAM, so no battery is needed.  The switch on the side is a 16 position rotary switch.  So that's 16 memory cards in one.

I'll be working with Todd on getting an optional plug in RGB amp for these so those who dont want the standard AV can plug his board in and have it wired for Omega RGB out.  Then you can buy Quan's AV cables.  Simple huh?

Theres a few more tweaks to the PCB, but this is basically what it will look like. Todd is trying to find a source for the connector, but until then I have this weird solution that works well, its just a pain to put together.  I also will probably have a laser cut top and bottom for these at one point as well.

It may not be done this year, but if anything maybe Jan-Feb.  The initial run will probably be around 25, but if there is enough interest I could make more.  Probably a price around $50, that's what I'm hoping for.
Quote from: brokenAs Turf mentioned, I will be redesigned a plug in RGB board for his BoostMasta. Depending on what the final version of his board looks like, I might also incorporate a component video section as well. That way via the 9 pin mini din you can have either RGB or component video using Quan's Omega Scart RGB and Component video cables.

edit: And yes, I am helping him track down a better source for 69 pin connectors. We have found one, but the samples they sent us weren't deep enough to plug into a PCE.

I working on another source for them.
I thought this looks pretty promising 8)

Fighting Street / Turbo Ignorance

Here are some excerpts from a Turbo Duo sales thread (which appears to have been sold already).

Quote from: sellerWell I got my first PCE from a reputable member on here about 2 months ago. After spending quite a bit of time playing the games I determined the PCE just isnt for me. So I would like to pass it along to someone who will get some good use out of it.

The Duo has been recapped, and appears to have a new laser. The system plays flawlessly and I havent had any problems out of it.

The Duo does have a small crack in the buttom of the back right hand corner. The plastic is still in tact and is not loose. The only time you can see it is if you flip the console over and stare at the corners. This is how it was before I got it.

The lot includes:

PCEngine Duo with OEM Power Adapter and Composite cable.
1x Controller
1x Turbo Everdrive
6x HuCard Games
Alien Crush
Shubibinman
Cyber Cross
Majin Eiyu Wataru (Keith Courage)
Bikkuriman World (Wonder Boy)
Bonks Adventure 3

2x CD Games
Ys 1 & 2
Pomping World

I prefer to sell the whole lot at once. But may separate. I am asking $300 shipped in the US. This is actually less than I have in everything here.
QuoteDude, you just got your Turbo Everdrive like 2 weeks ago. What happened? Did you try the Soldier series, Gate of Thunder, Nexzr and all?
QuoteLol I'll buy it back. PM incoming.
Quote from: sellerYea, its a great system. Especially if your into shmups ( which I suck at, lol ). Other than the Ys games, I just dont really find myself 'enjoying' them. And rather having it sit here collecting dust, I thought it would be best to pass it along to someone who would get some use out of it.
While I admirer the fact the seller doesn't want to keep a system he won't use, how can you decide in 2 months a system isn't for you? I've had my Everdrive for a few months and have barely begun to explore the library of games I have.

At least he didn't charge a ransom for it.

I just can't relate to the seller ](*,)

Buy/Sell/Trade / Synful Sales Thread
07/28/2014, 09:45 PM
I guess I need to mention this

1) If you have less than 50 posts, don't PM me.
2) If you see Sale Pending or SOLD by an item, don't PM me.
3) If you're not sure of 1) or 2), don't PM me.

I'm new to the forums myself and would prefer dealing with more established members in case a problem does arise as I'm likely to take their word.

Off-Topic / Rik Mayall passes
06/09/2014, 06:29 PM
http://news.yahoo.com/remembering-rik-mayall-britains-finest-comic-firecracker-192723700.html;_ylt=A0LEVxRZNJZTeCsApxhXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTB0N2JpMjJwBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1ZJUDQ2MV8x

QuoteRik Mayall, an irrepressible British comedy legend who was an equal master of brutally intense physical comedy and wry class satire, died at the tragically young age of 56 today of unspecified causes. An enormously influential performer across the pond, Mayall's humor often seemed to play to the lowest common denominator but belied a worldly view of his home country's social dynamics. To Americans, he's probably known best as the star of cult comedy Drop Dead Fred, but there's so much of Mayall worth celebrating today.
If you watched the Young Ones, Bottom, Blackadder or Filthy, Rich & Catflap, you're bummed at the moment!

05/12/2014, 06:06 PM
SOLD Sorry it went so quickly but I know the buyer, he's a bro and not a flipper! I just found out they're a member here Too!

I have 14 TurboGrafx 16 Hu's for sale Lot style. All come with the case & manual but show wear and tear especially the backs of the cases. Not minty but not gamer's condition either.

Asking 115 shipped Priority Mail in the US.

I popped the Everdrive into my Express and I just get a bright screen. It works in my Duo-R fine. When I hit the reset switch (for switching between US & JP systems) it lights up on the Everdrive but I just get the bright screen. My Express does not have the region mod either.

Popped in a JP Hu and got the same bright screen. I'm wondering if my Everdrive reset switch is broken.

Does anyone use their Everdrive in their Express so I know it does work?

EDIT: Solved with a little research imagine that ](*,)

The cover made it hard to see the proper switch

I wish it was a little recessed at that spot!

Off-Topic / Gamer's Condition
05/07/2014, 07:49 PM
I just saw this

Quotejust shy of mint-perfect gamer's copy
And was kind of surprised. When I use "gamer" in a sales thread it means bad condition but playable. Or for manuals it's taped together, water damaged, ripped, etc but it's usuable.

I would have said "just shy of a mint-perfect collector's copy"

What do you think of when you see "Gamer" used in a sales thread description?

NEC Console Resource / Hello everyone
04/03/2014, 10:15 AM
Hi guys,

I'm Jim, I'm a gamer, a fan of NEC and I love Splatterhouse amongst others. I recognize a few people's names and look forward to getting to chat with the rest of you.

I have two Turbo Expresses that Turbokon is recapping and doing the 2.5" mods to. I also have a Duo R that I'll have him mod shortly too.

In the past I've owned a Laseractive with a NEC TG PAC and a few TG-16s. I'm new to the site but familiar with the systems.

Thanks for looking!
