Old West meets the modern West. A soulful crime drama about desperate brothers pitted against the system.
Great writing, top performances. And superb cinematography to boot.
Saw that last year as I was looking for Jeff Bridges movies. Decent bank robbery movie which leads me to Den of Thieves (2018), the latest variation of bank robbery plot starring Gerald Butler. I think it ranks pretty high as one of the best in the genre. Almost felt like watching a bit of Sicario (2015) with Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Emily Blunt...
Um... den of thieves is at 49 on metacritic and 41 on tomato meter.  That's borderline "might pass on Netflix" territory let alone best of the genre

Quote from: soop on 05/14/2018, 06:45 AMI think it's important to make a distinction between how much games sell for and how much they're listed for.  In the case of Nexzr, you'll find a tonne of listings on eBay that never sell (or do so once in a blue moon), and plenty that are listed for a more reasonable price that sell often.  It's the difference between checking the sold prices and listed prices.

Lo and behold.  One Time Cruise 2 sold for £22, one sold for £36, and one (the only auction) ended at £16.  Those are the only sold listings. Just be patient if you want it that bad, it's not a $70 game.
This.  Sold auctions is all you should be looking at to determine the market value.  Not listings or sold buy-it-nows.  Just because one ass-hat paid that much once doesn't mean that's the new price.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but I liked the neo geo x.  I didn't even know about until the day it came out so I never got on the hype train.  I always hooked it up via HDMI ( which was the whole point IMO).  Once they fixed the aspect ratio issue, what else was there to complain about?  The price?  You already knew it, so why complain?
#7
youre looking at this all wrong.  just because NecroPhile is a mod doesnt mean that anyone takes his opinion around here any more seriously than the next guy's.  in fact, no one really cares about anyone's opinion around here other than their own .  we're mostly middle-aged dad-types who are pretty set on our ways.  stick around for a while and you'll be just as crusty as the rest of us.

Well, my dear NecroPhile, based on how you asked your question, I'm guessing you already know exactly what it is.  And you are correct.  As far as price, I paid $500 to the original owner, and it's pristine.  It looks like one is going to sell on ebay for at least $1k

Quote from: Flare65 on 02/28/2018, 09:03 AMThe problem I have with LRG is that I'll be there the moment the game goes live, add it to my cart, and then the game is listed as sold out during the checkout process.  Wash-rinse-repeat until the game is no longer available to add to the cart.

This is the part I don't understand.  I've gotten probably a dozen games from LRG and this has never happened to me (including some if the high demand stuff like dragons trap SE). There is no way that's just luck.  Too many samples to be just luck

Quote from: Punch on 02/27/2018, 10:37 AMAre you guys still discussing why it's so hard/unfair to buy a game from Limited Run Games 46 pages into this thread?

I've never had a problem.  You literally have to be waiting a few minutes before the sale starts and keep refreshing until it's live.  I know this is a pain and most people are complaining on the principle  that there are no pre-orders, but life has rules and those who play by them win.

Im sure there's a few folks who have been doing what I describe and their internet hiccups or fails and they miss out, but I think they are the exception.

Gents,

The first hidden egg in NAI gives you the fireball.  If you keep the fireball and find another hidden egg, you get the pudding parfait which expands you health meter.  If you get the parfait and find the next hidden egg with the fireball, you get the jewel which is just points.  I'm not sure, but I think the next hidden egg would be a 1-up.

What comes after the jewel?  Are there any other hidden items?

You will need an arcade card duo.  An arcade card pro will not fit in the slot.  In addition to system card 3.0, It also has the same built in battery save as the duo/super cdrom.

Quote from: CrackTiger on 02/21/2018, 11:50 AMIf you're a fan of real hardware, then why are you using an Nt?

Im also a picture quality whore.   I did the Hi Def NES mod and it's phenomenal.  When I heard this was coming at an economical price point (IMO) I knew I would get it.  This is the only "clone" system I have but for me, it's similar to the Everdrive in that it's an elegant form of emulation.  Been playing it almost exclusively since it arrived.

Zeta's right about these things just accumulating.  I never thought I would end up with all these systems.  I never planned to get them and I keep saying that's the last one.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 02/21/2018, 10:40 AMYou can't actually play 16 consoles. You can display them and impress the easily impressed but you aren't playing them. Just keeping them dusted is hard enough. I don't see where the urge comes to make your living room look like a flop house for 7-11 employees where they all have to fight for the same screen.

Think of what it would mean to actually play all of these systems at least once in a month, the practical reality of that. When do you find 3DO times, when the PS3 is updating? It's nonsense. A front.

Besides, real OGs know the coolest shit goes in the other direction, a setup totally dedicated to one single game. Like a Tron machine or someone's $3000 Logitech racing setup. "I have fifteen systems collecting dust right now because I can only play them one at a time." is just YouTube era wankery.
Just to clear a few things up here, the consoles are not in my living room.  The wife would never let that happen.  She barely tolerates them all tucked way back in another room in the house where no one ever sees them.  And for the record, I don't have a 3DO or a YouTube channel.

For me, it's just a space saving thing.  All my consoles are connected all the time.  I can turn on the tv and press power on any console when the mood strikes.  I can't stand it when people say they leave their consoles on shelves and hook them up when they need them.  Bullshit.  Those consoles get played once a year at the most.

Arcade machines are awesome.  John's Arcade is probably my favorite YT channel.  I even have a Street Fighter II Dynamo HS-5 cab.  But they are also huuuuge and heavy.  For a guy who moves every 3 years, having a bunch of dedicated machines isn't going to happen.

Im a fan of original hardware.  Sure I could have a raspberry pi with every game up to the year 2000 on it, but I just know I would never actually play it.

Quote from: crazydean on 02/20/2018, 05:19 PMYes, 3 TVs seems to be the ideal setup for now. However, even if everything was on a single TV, you still have like 10 systems in your living room.
It would be 16 for me but I could make it work since it's mostly HDMI and like 6 component.  If my OLED didn't turn 240p into chocolate mess I may have given it a shot.  I didn't even try 480p.

Quote from: TDIRunner on 02/20/2018, 11:02 AMFor now, I'm sticking with my original SNES and CRT, but I'm glad something like this exists.  Everyday I give more thought to dropping the two TV game room setup in favor of converting all systems to be compatible with my HD TV.  Some of the smaller and more obscure systems might not ever get there, but it's nice knowing that I have some options for my favorite older gaming systems.  I'm not ready yet, but I can see myself one day retiring my original systems for something like the NT as long as the new systems do what they claim to do.  You won't ever see me using those cheap clone systems.  We are at the point now where all Nintendo systems have some reasonable way of outputting HDMI to newer TVs.  Hopefully we can get there with some of the other systems as well.
Since I got my NT, I looked into transitioning to a single TV setup.  At this point every system I have is output via HDMI or Component video.  However, this doesn't mean it's all 1080p or even 720p.  It's a mix of those two plus 480p, 240p, and even 4k (Xbox one x & ps4 pro).

I don't know much about external scalers (framemeister & OSSC) but I'm pretty sure no 4k out there is going to effectively handle all those types of signals.

Im almost at the conclusion that the most economical solution is just stick with a tv that was around when the console was still in stores (probably towards the end of the console's life or just after).  For me, this means 3 TVs

When you consider the Hi Def NES kit is $125 and you have to install it yourself, this is a pretty good deal.  It's the same FPGA programmed by the same guy.  For an extra $65, they are giving you a pretty well made console, product support, returns if necessary, and you don't have to install it.

I think they have hit a sweet spot with this console that will give them the capital they need to make more consoles in the future.  I wouldn't be surprised if they already have a Genesis in the works.

Just my $.02, but you should get a pc engine duo.  You are going to want to play the CD games at some point and you don't want to try and get a CD player and dock down the road.  If you say you can live without the CD games for now, take a harder look at the pc engine CD rom games.  Most of my pc engine collection is super cdrom games.
