Not being UK based or from France but from Sweden and more fluent in English than Frensh.
And the ad from an issue of "The games machine" below was the catalyst for my interesst of this gamesystem!

The ad was published April 1989
But it was not until 1991 that I got my first Turbografx a bunch of turbochips (17) and a Turbobooster plus, the collection has been growing ever since.
How ever I've allways felt like I was about the only real "NEC" colletor in sweden at that time and onwards, PC Engine or Turbografx 16 has never been big in Sweden!
"Sega Megadrive" and "Nin.....belch.....do" on the other hand. I do have an some what extencive Sega collection too but it's NEC that tickles my fancy so to speak.

Just as much as these sellers, I wonder where the people buying this shit at these prices are hiding out. You'd think anyone into Turbo collecting in one form or another would've found this forum.

Sometimes I wonder if some of these people aren't already among the members here, but keep their mouths shut for fear of burning any bridges they might have with the community.

As for my self, all I can say is that some games will never end up in my collection because of those said prices...

Yes it works!
And yes the ports are somewhat diffrent in shape but not that much so modding the TGX is pretty easy.
All connector-pins ar exactly the same.
Some small modding of the TGx shell is also needed so one does not have to mod the super-CD player shell (I'd rather mod one of many TGX than one of the few super-CD players)
The set up plays every single game JAP or US exept SGX offcause...

Bought this Volvo V70 -00 last year when my old Mitsu Galant V6 -93 went to Cars heaven.
This V70 is a Classic version which means it got all thinkable accessories and the engine is  5 cyl 150hp

No risk of a flood though we do have a small stream close by but it never overflow enough to be any danger to our house (Thank God)
But I know about the feeling of loosing stuff to the power of nature, Had some gaming stuff out in the Garage when one stormy night the doors to it blow opend and the rain and wind destroyed a complete collection of a swedish Nintendo 8-bit magazine from around 1987-88 plus a lot of other stuff stored in a box standing close to the doors, It was just a big water soaked lump of paper in the morning

Don't know much about British custom charges but in sweden or rather packages to sweden should never ever NEVER EVER be sent by EMS because over here every single EMS is checked and taxed for customs.
From Japan only acept SAL or Regular Airmail nothing else....Why? I tell you the customs office check EMS for Drugs steroids and contraband But let everything else just passby because "nobody is so stupid" to send expencive stuff without insurance and tracking no.
To Sweden I've never lost a package or have had to pay custom charges for any thing sent this way but every thime someone sends me an EMS I've had to pay extra taxes
It's probably the same in GB....

The two different versions date back to the short period where they were selling IFUs and CDROMs separately to avoid VAT. There is no functional difference, you can swap them around, use them with any CDROM2 unit, or even a US TG-16.

So my next question is: Which is which?
And There are several versions of the system cards like 1.0 2.0 2.1 which came with which model?
(Yes I know there is a ver. 3.0 too but it was sold sepratly was'nt it?)

I've resently bought these two Breifcase CD interface units but they do not look the same?
One look like this on the lid:

And on the inside it got these little metal dots just below the CD connector

The other one looks like this on the lid:

But on the inside it does not have the little metaldots:

The CD unit I got have a little metalplate on the bottom that correspond with the small metaldots:

Now then:
Are there two diffrent CDplayers too?
If so:
Does either realy need the dots or is it like one only functions with and the other only without?
I considerd selling one unit but as I'm trying to collect all variants of the PC Engine this now seem impossible if there are more than one variant of each unit perhaps even more than one of the White, black and Grey ones too?
Collecting PC Engine hardware is like trying to dig a hole on a mudpit.....

When it came out I beat Air Zonk I played it night and day until I've beaten it
I also beaten Eternal City not a hard game as such but very big gameworld so it took for ever to finish.
When I bought my Turbo in 91/92 I also bought a bunch of games Bonk's adv. and Revenge amongst others and beaten both and now comes the funny thing! I tried Bonks adv. about a month ago and could'nt even beat the first boss ....LOL
Have'nt been playing as much as I should on my NEC'ers, been rebuilding the house, gotten my self a new car, risking loosing my job, and playing WOW taking out my frustration on the keyboard instead of breaking a NEC'er (lol)
I will repent though soon when the new play room is available in the house...

The seller claims its new and in factory state intact but if so how was it possible to take photos of the inside?
And if it's new how come the styrofoam is so damaged all over?

The biggest problem (as I see it)on Ebay is not those big money BIN's...It's the fact that some fools acctuly pay them!

Is it normal for Turbo CD systems with a broken CD drive to go for $150 or more on ebay??
I had my eye on a system early this week but at the end people bid it up to $150.
And its broken!

 Really?!  Yeesh!  I paid $140 for a WORKING TG16 / CDrom setup

If you think that was "stupid" then I was checking out an auction on a swedish version of ebay....A non working brefcase Cd player no box no maual not original cables 6 games of no intresst and the auction ended at $629.00 (4000:- swedish kroner)  
The swedish stupidity is endles, I've did a little research and found one for $104 + 62 shipping from HK complete in box (I'm negotiating for it just now   )
