Free if purchased with any games in a case

I'm looking @ picking up an PC-FX and I'm pretty in tune with values on the PCE side, but I'm a bit lost on the pricing of PC-FX stuff.  This looks like a great deal, but I might be off.  What do you guys think?

ToeJam and Earl sometimes gets 23 bucks on its own as a loose cart,sometimes even more. If you have it complete list it on ebay or sell it by itself for much more. You are short changing yourself.

I'm using the original pad-105 ac adaptor.  So if it were the ram would I just need to replace the two RAM chips?  I'm guessing that replacements the exact replacements would hard to find, so am I out of luck on this or do you guys think it's worth trying to repair?

Have you tried the video output ports on both the CoreGrafx and the CD-ROM interface?  If one of them works, then well, great -- you've found the problem, though I'd be caught off guard if that was really it.

Yeah -it does it on both.  I was hoping that someone had run across something like this before-  it sounds like I may be SOL.  I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron, and have done some console mods(with a guide in hand) in the past, so if it were a matter of replacing some components or something along that line I could do it, but as far as figuring out what the issue is I'm clueless.  I hate to shell out for another core-

I picked up a Coregrafx and it has an issue with the video output.  It kind of remind me of when the 72 pin on a NES goes bad:

The audio is fine, and it runs the game with no problem other than the video.  I tried several game and they all were like this.

I hooked it up to a CD Rom attachment and same results




Any suggestions ?  Is this fixable or am I going to need a new unit ?

The more I think about it, it sounds like the seller had buyer's remorse.  He bought it and then decided to sell right off, probably due to money or something as such, hence the buy it now and the auction before the seller probably even had the goods.

I'm almost sure that's what happened- the 2nd package just got delivered and it came from Japan rather than HK.  This package had a coregrafx II, 4 controllers, and 20 loose Hucards in it.  Now to test it all-

The real cool thing is that there should be another 15-20 games(loose HuCards) that come with the 2nd package- I'll let you know how that goes-

Yeah- I still have some concerns, but I've got another 2 weeks to file a dispute, so I'm giving the seller the benefit of the doubt.  I've been doing online transactions for about 5 years and have yet to be burned as a buyer.  This is probably the most unestablished seller I've ever dealt with, but the risk to value on this was too good to pass on.  He sent 36 games with the super cd-rom, and has been real apologetic about the delay, so I'm hoping that the second shipment will be along soon.  If it does come I'll give the seller positive feedback even though it took forever to get.  $180 shipped is a hell of a deal...

Well I used some oxy clean and the system cleaned up pretty nice- still a few scuffs and a little fading, but nothing too bad-



I super glued the broken piece back on, but you can still see the crack upon close inspection- now I'm just waiting for the coregrafx II so I can fire it up-

Update- The seller contacted me and gave me a tracking # about a week ago and told me that it would come in two packages.  The first would have the Super CD-ROM(and hookups), multitap, and all of the games with cases.  The second would have the rest.  I got the 1st package today and everything looks OK so far.  The unit has some scuffs and was a little dirty, but I'm ok with that.  The only thing that kind of sucks is dude didn't pack super nice so a small piece if the unit broke off.  I'll get some pictures up later today-

Not to be alarmist on this, but that very same exact auction/picture ended on Yahoo JP a couple of days ago.  And if I remember correctly sold for more.  There were also more pictures there for that auction showing the games.  If I hadn't cleared my auction list I could put the auction up here (no way I can find to search completed auctions on Yahoo JP).

What's more is that seller's other "bulk" listing right now was also exactly used in a Yahoo JP listing just this past week.  In that auction there's a Bonk 3 and Star Parodia and an Arcade Card Pro and I know I bid on it around that $95 range they're currently selling it for.  In other words, I don't remember what it ended at, but I know they're not making any money on either auction.

I hope this story ends well for you, but please be cautious with this one.

$25 is a good price on it, I bought one for $40 several years ago(sold it for about the same).  If I an extra $25 I would hop on this.  The problem is the game is kind of like a novelty-  It's inferior to the NES version in just about every way.  Don't get me wrong, it was one of my favorite games for the NES, but every time I played the PCE version I found myself spending more time comparing the two than enjoying the game.  If you haven't sold this in a few weeks I'll take it-

Nod- you're right, Sony played only a small part in sega's demise-  Sega kind of screwed themselves with the 32x to saturn to dreamcast transition(among other things, many thing too long to list)- but I'm being jaded here as I hate Sony-

Hey Steve-  Everything you want is in good shape(actually everything left is)  There are surface scratches on the front of the jewel cases and the games have insertion scratches on the back.  I looked at the manuals once, maybe twice.   The games I played, but once I was done they got put away.  Scale of 1-10 is on average a 7 or 7 1/2. let me know-
