So here was my experience! Keep in mind my turnout was affected by three things:
1) it was labor day weekend and a lot of people were away
2) it was also PAX and SF comic con (I'm in the bay area, so all west coast events affect where nerds are)
3) one of the three train lines was shut down.

sooo yeah. Anyway I probably saw about 50-60 people total, and made about $500. I sold maybe 20% of my stuff, maybe less. I sold like 5 games only! that was weird. mostly cassettes tapes, laserdiscs, game magazines, and books.

Honestly I think with specialty stuff like I've got here, what I need to do is advertise those specific things and sell them in lots - it was pretty fun though, overall, talking to folks who knew about games and music who wandered in! A guy who was friends with osamu tezuka's old translator came by - unfortunately he left before I had much of a chance to talk to him. apparently that translator lives in the area somewhere.

But yeah, to the morning thing - I think that's just when yard sale people like to go! Basically 95% of the people who came to my yard sale did so before noon. After that it was just friends coming by for the remaining 5 hours.

So my currently plan is to do one more of these next saturday for two hours only, then sell the rest to local stores. I think it's worth doing a yard sale if you live in a populated enough area and advertise it on craigslist well enough!

Another game I worked on, Sine Mora EX, has just come out on PS4, Vita, and Steam, and is coming soon for Switch. I did English naturalization for the original game, then did some design tuning for the EX version. The script isn't my very favorite, and the game still has some problems, but it was a cool collaboration between hungarian dev Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture in Japan - you really notice that toward the later levels.

Anyway!! To celebrate it's release, I'm gonna raffle off a steam key if anyone's interested! Wahoooo

The Saturn launched in North America with Virtua Fighter as a pack-in and the game was never sold at retail. It was covered heavily in the media, as the Playstation couldn't save games or play anything out of the box.

But that version of VF was the one that was so hastily put together they had to re-release it as Virtua Fighter Remix, right? They sent it out for free to everyone with new jim lee art on the cover. I interviewed him once, and never asked about that. whoops.

Skullgirls sold ~11,000 copies combined, more than any title released before or since, yet it's a failure? 

It's possible that with skullgirls they had to place the order in advance, and it didn't meet that number, so they wound up with lots of extra stock. in this case it's a true preorder, so should be alright??

I like it! I wouldn't pay that price though. It also suffers from some serious problems, wherein if you don't have enough of the right weapons at the right times, you can't even hit at least one of the bosses.

I still play my original copy of Magical Chase which is priceless to me because of sentimental value. I don't know what the benefit is of dying knowing that my games have fewer insertion marks, just so that they can be tossed in the trash or sold to flippers through an estate sale.

I was about to say almost the exact same thing. I've played my magical chase hundreds of times. it's one of my girlfriend's favorite games. I have probably used the game with 4 different consoles. insertion marks!! whoooooo caaaares.

I didn't quite realize how far this series had gone. Not far past 1998, but still, for a PC-fx origin game, it's quite something.

As far as I can tell, there was:

Blue Breaker: Ken Yorimo Hohoemi o (PC-fx): Sep 27, 1996

Blue Breaker: Ken Yorimo Hohoemi o (saturn): Nov 27, 1997

Blue Breaker: Egao no Yakusoku (PS): Dec 25, 1997

Blue Breaker Burst: Bishou o Anata to (PS): Jul 23, 1998

Blue Breaker Burst: Egao no Asuni (PS): Sep 10, 1998

As far as I understand:
The first two games (PC-fx, Saturn) are largely the same game.
Egao no Yakusoku is *more or less* the same game, with several added scenarios.

The two "Bursts" are fighting games, and seem to be super similar - they even have the same HUD. but the second game appears to have 2X as many characters.

it's clear the franchise didn't exactly set the world on fire, but not bad for a game of PC-fx origin - it probably has the most ports and sequels of any PC-fx game!

Ever seen that on craigslist posts about cars for real hunks of junk? I've got one of those beauties for you all right now. I have here a copy of Pac-Land, everyone's favorite (!?) pac-man game for the turbo grafx. The game comes "complete" with case, game, and manual (no cardboard).

So, why is this a mechanic's special? A few reasons!
1) the cart is maybe completely useless. As you can see in the photo, it's got corrosion all over it. I tried to fix it, and I don't think it's fixable. But maybe you're cooler than me and can do it!
2) the case label is missing. you could put one of those sparky labels on it if you were nuts! but what else are you gonna put your pac-land label on, really.
3) the hucard-holding tab thing broke off. whoops
4) the manual is a bit scuffed. but hey, it opens up, unlike some other manuals I've got!!

So yeah, WHO WILL BE FIRST IN LINE to take this AMAZING GEM!?
Continental US only, but not limiting it to high posters cause I think most high level posters aren't gonna want it!

I've been on the receiving end of enough raffles that I'd better give something back!

I've got a disc-only Browning on offer here. For those who have never played it, it's an overly difficult mech shooter with some kind of fun cutscenes! It's not bad, it's not great! Classic Nihon Telenet. Disc is in decent shape, a few light scuffs, but nothing that affects play.

xcrement5x - yeah, even at that rate it seems pretty tough to justify! Like say Gypsy wanted all my Saber Marionette stuff (please!), that's 22 discs, which would be at least $70 to ship at that rate. That's rough! Not much room to charge for the discs themselves when you're paying $70 for shipping, I reckon.
