@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Starting bid isn't even that bad. Mostly I just want to share this for the pics of the units! they're super cool!

odd that you would have no comment about Guy - since he's clearly Guy Kazama from Last Alert! That warrants at least a small comment :P
#53
download  some ISOs, dude
#54
yeah, I'm ultimately not complaining, I've gotten good deals! but it's hard to forget those times you passed something up.
#55
nevermind, all I had to do was complain and it arrived immediately :P

Sarumaru, I'm sure you've heard this already, but you know you copy/pasted the same text into the charge shot and power slide descriptions? something to fix for v2 :P

(btw I love that there's a super CD error message)
#56
Have all the backed copies shipped? Just wondering, since mine hasn't arrived yet!! Want to make sure I'm not missing something here
#57
I passed on buying a PC Engine LT for $600 in 2008 because I thought I could get one cheaper :P
#58
I voted hellfire cause of that intro music
#59
wahoooo
#60
*nice* price on those PVMs. wish I had the system to go with them thoughhhhhhhhh
#61
...and did it work!?
#62
BTW, for everyone who got a vita key, the game should work on your PS4 now. Let me know how that process goes, I am not really sure how PSV/4 cross-buy works when one game comes out several months before the other!
#63
I'd be curious to see scans as well!
#64
I want one of these some day!!!

man, it's not often I hear someone advocating for repros around here.

(seriously, if you're gonna repro, get a rom or a burn, what's the point otherwise aside from giving a pirate some money)

I have a spare vasteel, but no manual and no map, just front cover and disc. Probably not what you want, but let me know if it's up your alley.

Quote from: Đ…arumaru on 04/11/2018, 03:54 PMWell shit. I wanted to make a similar PCE-type book too. Oh well :\
there's definitely nothing stopping you!
#67
hopefully his account is un-deleted soon!! the internet is a tough place

Saturn version is Tenshi wo Kurau 2, so it's a bit more of a traditional beat-em-up, where you aren't always on horseback - it's a bit more like Knights of the Round in that way? It's definitely an improvement over the first game, but still not super inspiring. Nice giant sprites though!

(it's also pretty much arcade perfect)
#69
my problem with this game is it's just extreeeemly boring all the way through.

(and yet I own it, and its sequel for saturn)

I missed this thread, I gave away 15 to the electronic recycling place a month ago. whooooops
#71
I'd like a nanttetatte physical cart, personally!
#72
I found one with world class baseball in it, and another with tv sports hockey! neither was an exciting event.
#73
Regardless of whether you can read it (disclosure: I can), it's still every PCE game with dates and photos for $20. Frankly the info in it is pretty sparse anyway, though there are a few neat things from time to time. Just saying it's a bit less about the words and more about seeing a complete chronology of the system, including games you might not otherwise be browsing through. Worth it to me! (but again, I can get more out of it reading the thing)
#74
I like it so far - seeing everything laid out (mostly) chronologically is teaching me some things. I never thought about how bomberman didn't come out til the third year of the console's life!
#75
Hadn't seen anyone talking about this yet, maybe I missed it?
It's got every official PCE game ordered by format and date, some pages for peripherals, etc. Nothing you haven't seen before, but it's cute and nice to have!! It's also real cheap from amazon japan!! get it!

https://www.amazon.co.jp/PC%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B3%E3%83%B3%E3%83%97%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%82%AC%E3%82%A4%E3%83%89-%E3%83%AC%E3%83%88%E3%83%AD%E3%82%B2%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A0%E6%84%9B%E5%A5%BD%E4%BC%9A/dp/4074298619/

Overrated is certainly not an objective term that could be applied to anything. And Sapphire is definitely an impressive game - it doesn't use absolutely every technique that the PCE can do, but no game does. I would say Sapphire is graphically impressive, and so are a bunch of other games :P

Legend of Xanadu 2 is a big one for me. Basically looks like an early PS1 game.

Just an update on this!! After a lot of searching, I managed to get a complete guide with disc for $35, thanks to:
a) searching for the title in Japanese only
b) asking every amazon seller if their copies were complete (the ones who answered weren't complete - why don't japanese amazon sellers ever answer questions!?)
c) finding it on a Japanese auction site and having a friend pick it up.

So yay! got the whole dang thing, now, and at about 1/3 the usual going price.

good luck! the turbo is a powerhouse, I'm sure it'll clean up nice!
#80
I mean, you said it yourself, alfa system made or were involved with tons of games on the PCE, and a lot of the games on the PCE were shooters - the spriggan games were both called spriggan. Gate of Thunder and Lords of Thunder both had the name to tie them loosely together. psychic storm and kaidan 00 have no relationship whatsoever, not in theme, not in style, not in mechanics, not in name... it's just another shooter alpha system made, not a spiritual successor! Would you say Down Load is a spiritual successor to Cyber Core? Alfa System made both of those.

Alfa System made Cyber Core and Psychic Storm too, so if you believe successive shooters made by the same company are spiritual sequels, why did you not just say yes to the initial premise? :P
#81
I want a bonk 3, but I don't have any of the things you're looking for! I should update my trade list though...
#82
Hmm, I wouldn't say Kaidan 00 is a spiritual sequel to psychic storm, they play so differently! And Kaidan is like a kids sentai robot sort of thing. The vibe is so different!
#83
someone discovered aftereffects!!
#84
yeah, should do photos since there are three lunar silver star disc covers! I have that one, but best of luck with the sale!
#85
thanks for the update!!
#86
ah man, which lunar!?! just for my personal curiosity because I had to buy a loose eternal blue that seriously arrived *today* because my buddy had a spare case/manual.
#87
it's worse - he took the promo image from someone on deviant art who copied those sprites. I think it's fair game to do that as a deviant art fan - but to steal stuff which is stolen, that takes some real guts!

Quote from: esteban on 03/14/2018, 04:42 PMThis is fascinating, thank you.

I never found any strong evidence of MS DOS/Windows disrupting the Japanese market, but figured that it must have played a role.
well I mean the ultimate evidence is that we know it happened, based on the windows and mac OS being the only two major operating systems in Japan still.
#89
Surprised how few people have this game! I was sure I'd come back in a few days and someone else would've beaten me to it.

Anyway, here's your answer: It's the "same" on a legit disc. I say "same" because track 25 is the intro music, which starts low and gets louder by design. If your version doesn't get louder, that's strange, but yeah, otherwise that's what it does. tracks 26 and up are nothing. I remember thinking this was weird back in the day because of course the game doesn't have 99 cd tracks, right? They just made the menu without taking into account how many tracks there were because it was easier. I even remember looking through them all to find something "hidden," but now I recognize they were just taking an easy road :P

Also there are 31 tracks on this disc, yes, but some is data, and some is cutscene/VO stuff, and they just didn't include that stuff in the "CD music" section, so you wind up with 25 tracks.

So I'm gonna say your rip is working as intended, unless somehow your track 25 doesn't get louder after the first 5 seconds, but that'd be a real weird specific thing.

Quote from: guest on 03/12/2018, 04:31 PMI scanned the manual and will upload it at some point. It has lots of cool comics in it.
ooooh, I'm into it!!
#91
I'm just enjoying looking at the pics of this thing I'd never heard of!
#92
yeah, depends on which pads we're talking about, as others have noted!
#93
I'm here for the turbotap gifs
(and this is interesting - is it that it's just not powering the other slots? does it take more power to get a 6 button controller going vs a 2? feels like that'd be pretty negligible)
#94
I've never tried nin-nin-game - if you do, please leave a review!
#95
there's absolutely no real reason to own anything, especially if it doesn't do anything extra for you.

the reason I own stuff is due to my particular brain - if I have everything available to me, I won't interact with any of it for long. This is just a thing I know about myself! I like being able to go and browse my collection like it's a game shop, look at the covers and manuals, and figure out what I want to play that way.

But for most people, honestly, there's no point in owning a bunch of physical objects that just take up space.
#96
Well done!! try to forgive yourself in advance for the inevitable bugs that are found. that's my experience at least :P
#97
weird! well, I'm glad it's not a consistent issue with the machine.
#98
so it was a faulty system, and that's it?
