More interesting though is the fact that I found an original way of making it work. :P

Interesting. I thought the Retron 5 couldn't play games when they where attached to something else like the 32X or Super Gameboy. I guess they updated it to let you do more with it.

FYI GameStop is selling these at $100 where most other places sell it for $140-160.

I don't have one yet. Might get one from GameStop.

Or continue my search for a used one at like $50.
A word of caution:

I bought a Retron 5 so I could play all my games on a newer TV with no input lag.  So far, every TV I've tried it on has had comparable lag to just using an original console via composite, making the Retron pretty much useless to me.  Beware.

Ex-Ranza is one of the few games I've considered getting on the Mega Drive even though I already have Ranger-X on the Genesis.  Such an awesome game.

I inherited these from my grandmother who passed away a couple years ago, but I've never been much of a Mega Man fan & I am in dire need of cash right now.

I've been hesitant to part with them for a long time, but I don't see them doing me any good if I'll never play them.

I've considered picking one or two of the best of the lot, but I have no idea how to tell which sequel is better than the other...

But again, life happens & this time it happened all over my face, so unfortunately I'll have to let these go.

I have no idea what a good price for them is, but the local video game store offered me $80 for just the carts, but also stated that the manual for MM5 was worth $40 alone...

I'm not looking to make bank, just enough to soften the financial blow from this particularly stressful holiday, and the emotional blow of parting with articles I received from a deceased loved one.

The disk system is great!  If you already have LoZ and Metroid on NES, you should enjoy picking out the differences in the FDS versions.  Maybe it's just the collectard in me, but I love the mini floppies with their clear plastic cases.

I haven't gotten any FDS games in awhile,  mostly because there aren't many left that I want, but offhand I know I need Gyruss and whatever that game that was on AVGN that "SAYS FUCK!"  I think it was little more than a Combat clone, but swearing is always a welcome addition

PS - if the belt for you system ever messes up, I hear it can be repaired with a blow drier.

Quote from: guest on 12/07/2015, 12:29 PMNice finds chany!  Final Fight CD is one of the better titles on the Sega CD in my opinion, and I actually really like the music in it too.  I got some stuff (unexpectedly) this weekend too.

Denver Visit Pickups! by xcrement5x, on Flickr

I met up with beemer for lunch on Saturday and paid him for some stuff I had picked up previously, just for him to surprise me with more goodies he was getting rid of!  Got my cardon with the Ys 1 & 2 and Neutopia boxes only, which look super duper nice and complete my copies.

I also picked up Dragon Slayer for TG16 CD from him and the Gundam Side Story 0079 game for Dreamcast.  Woot!
Gundam on the Dreamcast is surprisingly fun.  A good mix of tactics/strategy and action, which is exactly what I'd want from a Gundam game.

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 11/19/2015, 04:37 PMI think I am ready to play some Blackthorn!  I now have two 32X games Blackthron and Night Trap. Apart from those the only other three that interest me are Space Harrier, After Burner, and Tempo. Anyone recommend any other must plays for the 32X?

IMG

The 3.0 system card was a sweet $14 free shipping pick up. And well Teranigma. I am very interested to play this PAL game. And in English.
Blackthorne on the SNES AND 32x?  You RAWK!

And you pretty much nailed it.  Other than Kolibri and Knuckles Chaotix (overpriced, overrated) you named most of the good ones. :/ Still an awesome system to have though!

Stellar Assault is also fun if you like such games.  Star Wars arcade is difficult as balls, but affordable & therefore worth owning.  I'll update this post if I think of anymore.

Got these games from 2nd and Charles, a REALLY cool chain store in Columbia South Carolina, lots and lots of games, books, CD's, movies, New Games/Systems, everything really.
IMG

Got all these from Games 4 Less in Tallahasse Florida, AMAZING STORE.  They have everything and at great prices.  So many young people in there picking up Retro stuff too.  I really like Burai Fighter and can't wait to play it again.

2nd & Charles is a pretty nifty store.  Got my copies of Viewpoint for the Genesis and Driv3r for GBA there.

"Vintage" CAVE Ashtray for my Neo Candy Cab by xcrement5x, on Flickr

Just got this very cool ashtray in from the ever awesome voltronbadass on the NeoGeo forums.

I am not a smoker (Well, not regularly.  I do have the occasional cigar obviously.) But I had to grab one of these when I saw volty made more of them.  It's mainly going to be used to hold the keys for my cab but looks pretty smexy.  Very nice quality on them and the logo is even silkscreened on and not just like a sticker or something.
Oh SHIT.  Do they make a Taito or Technosoft one?

Scuse the double post, but I FINALLY DID IT!!

IMG

I figured out all I have to do is survive the level 7 boss, and then you get a bunch of power ups at the start of the next level.  Since the whole thing is pretty much boss fights, and the final boss is kind of a joke if you're fully powered, the last part of the game was a relative breeze.

After I get good at beating it & record the longplay onto a VHS, I'll have to ratchet the difficulty up to "normal" >.<

That's looking pretty swanky, man!  Quite the collection ya got there, too. :3

I was in a similar predicament.  I had a separate room for my games & what-have-you, but the lady didn't have a space to do arts & crafts and such.  After an evening of heated discussion eventually culminating into a panic attack, I calmly pitched the idea of giving up my room to her & moving my things to the living room (a more logical place for the TV, anyway).  This ended up working out in my favor.  For my birthday, she helped her stepfather make some wall-mounting shelves, so I could get rid of many of the behemoths crowding the space.  The rest of the room's a mess, but here's what I've done with the shelves:

IMG
IMG
IMG
IMG

(The empty space on the middle shelf is for my Dreamcast, which I'm currently playing)

This is a WIP, and I've got more shelves coming with which to put up the rest of my games, and some more toys, so there'll be more pictures soon.  Yes, it may be odd to have all this set up in the living room...but we fly our freak flags high.  :P

Gypsy Dreamcast Bundle by xcrement5x, on Flickr

My half of a trade from Gypsy. Lots of awesome Dreamcast games to add to my library and some not so awesome.  I'm trying to get many of the heavy hitters out of the way early as I consider going for a full set like an ultra collectard.  It will be slow going though since I am trying to fund any additional purchases through sales for the time being and I've got some other things I want to pay off as well.
Tech Romancer, nice!

I feel like I've probably talked about a couple of these already, but they are recent gets so I figured I'd show em off anyway.

Rez & Half-Life are repros.  They don't exactly look official, but they look okay nestled in with my other Dreamcast games.

Rez is an awesome game, but I find when I play it, I fall into a drowsy trance similar to highway hypnosis.  Deceptively difficult, too.

Half-Life is an incredible port.  The frequent load times, unstable frame rate & lack of a quick save option are a bit of a chore, but the fact that the game is running at all (and looks as good as it does) on the Dreamcast is something that endlessly amazes me.  So very glad I have the keyboard & mouse.

I haven't delved much into any of the other games yet, except for Sword of the Berserk.  I enjoyed that one, but holy hell it's got some long cutscenes.  The gameplay can get a bit repetitive, but I find that's par for the course in this genre.  I can dig it.

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective is the pack-in disc that also comes with the 4-pak of Genesis games.  My stepdad found it while cleaning out the attic; presumably, it came with his old Sega CD (which has since disappeared from the material sphere).

Oh, and I almost forgot, I upgraded to this guy since I had a late model Dreamcast that wouldn't play CD-Rs:

Off-Topic / Science!
06/09/2015, 04:24 PM
Who loves it?

Me, I'm partial to biology, particularly entomology, but I find all kinds of science interesting as long as someone other than myself gets to do all the math.

Anyway, I've been fascinated by insects since I was a child.  I always said I'd be an entomologist, but unfortunately there aren't many careers in the field that interest me.  Maybe I just haven't looked into it deeply enough.

lately, I've been conducting an experiment where I'm measuring the dung beetle population in my suburban neighborhood.  There are no pastures or significant sources of poop nearby that I'm aware of, so I was curious as to whether or not they'd be here at all.  Sure enough, they are!  I didn't find the species I was looking for, but I did find a bunch of these little guys:

IMG
Onthophagus Hecate - the scooped scarab

And this big, handsome fellow:
IMG
Deltochilum Gibbosum - the hump-backed scarab

I've been doing some coordinating & I'd like to set up some traps in some other locations, to get a better idea of what all species there are in the area.  If you'd like to help, I'll gladly except beetle specimens alive or dead...though I doubt anyone here really wants to go digging for poop bugs.

I also make displays with the insects that I catch.  Many I keep, but I sell some depending on availability of specimens.  If you're interested in owning some nifty wall art, send me a PM & maybe I can put something together for you. ^-^

So yeah.  Anyone else love science?  Or better yet, anyone here have a career in a scientific field?  Share your data, comrades!

Traded in some poop & finally got a copy of Brain Lord, an opportunity to relive a childhood memory (Sonic Adventure 2 Battle) as well as that of a friend's (Wind Waker).

The articulation leaves much to be desired, but I'm spoiled by Figmas & Revoltechs, and this is much more affordable & toy-like.  The plastic's even got that rubbery feel the old Star Wars figures had.  I just wish if they were gonna use the Prime model, they would have used Prime colors instead of the Super Metroid deco.

Now if only I can find the 6" Metroid, now...

Oooh you totally suck...a couple days ago, I ordered a copy of Half-Life for the PS2.  It's probably the game I want the most for the system.

Quote from: esteban on 02/21/2015, 02:11 PMCap'n Crunch - I can't actually eat this as it was intended (cereal + milk). Even as a dry snack, it's just too nasty-sweet+mealy-mouth.

As a kid, I ate bowlfuls.

Coke (and lots of sodas, like Root Beer, Grape, Orange) - JESUS they are too sweet. I WATER DOWN MY SODA IF IT IS THE ONLY THING AVAILABLE. I really do. Same applies to sweet beverages in general.  Diet Coke I can drink, but it is still very, very sweet.

I hate junky-crap icing (which is what is found on 99% of everything). I've become much more discerning when it comes to icing. Crappy icing ruins otherwise excellent cupcakes/cakes/cookies, etc.

Excellent icing, however, I fully enjoy, though I still need the cake:icing ratio to be appropriate. I hate when there is too much icing....just like I hate it when there is too much cream cheese in a bagel. THERE IS A PROPER CREAM CHEESE:BAGEL RATIO, but too many folks ignore it.

Damn them to hell!!!!
I think you missed the point...but still interesting nonetheless.  I never cared for marshmallow peeps, but I could at least stomach them as a kid.  Now, the very idea of putting something that sugary in my mouth makes me gag a little.  I'm sure there are other things, but I can't think of anymore right this second.

Not Cy-Kill in fact, but one of the rarer Super (big) Gobots, Throttle.  And I don't know much about the characters, I mainly just collect the toys because they change into stuff that Transformers usually don't like classic cars, WWII planes, etc.  Throttle here is a much cooler toy than any of his Transformers G1 motorcycle contemporaries, although I do wish I hadn't payed quite as much as I did for this one.

I've attached a picture of my small Gobots collection, because why not.
