Quote from: ccovell on 07/01/2017, 08:24 PMFor the time being, try to find a cheap SD2IEC unit for sale online.  This can let you download any program or .D64 disk image from the 'net and load it from a virtual disk.  For games that don't load from SD2IEC (because of fastloaders or copy protection), well, use the real disk drive you have.

You're lucky to have a PAL model.  Most action games & scene demos target PAL machines.

Oh, and try to find an EPYX fastloader cart ASAP (if your C64 doesn't have a fast load cart/JiffyDOS ROM already); it'll preserve your sanity as the C64 disk data rate is glacial...
This and a jiffydos and you'll be pretty well set...

16-bit hands down. The best smattering of all around goodness.

The pong/8bit era can be a close second if sometimes primitive plenty of those games are easy to pick up and go.

The 32-bit era can be hard to go back to, some of the game just do NOT hold up well, even with upscaling/filtering they are still ugly janky foggy framey messes, but there is other stuff that holds the up to test of time.

Everything past that is just prettier/faster/sleeker versions of crap before it, not always for the better...

I finally saw the Andromeda Strain after all these years, damn that's a good movie...

A movie like that wouldn't be made today without shakey cam and all sorts of other dumb shit, this movie played it straight and was awesome for it.

Quote from: Mathius on 06/25/2017, 06:10 PMGet Fast RMX! It's basically F-Zero Mixed with Wipeout and is great fun!

Also any of the NeoGeo games for on-the-go play.
I bit on snake pass, my kid did the old RNG and it got picked.

I will grab FAST and neo games for sure, just later on.

Love the system, it's comfy for me to use, which is a benefit, the joycon fit well in my hands.

Quote from: Dicer on 06/25/2017, 07:53 PMI'm doing some pairing down myself, this habit can get pricey, and well at the moment, I literally cannot afford to be pricey.

I'll regret some stuff but as long as I have a way to play (flash cart/emulation) it's fine it's about the experience for me, not so much the stuff along my walls...
But you put your Duo R here first. There's nothing wrong with pairing down every once in a while. There's something sick about mas' cycle of boom and bust all the fucking time, especially when he gets giddy that he will "make a few dollars on the side" as he said earlier this thread.

Just in case someone doesn't bother clicking on random forum links, straight from the horse's mouth:

QuoteLet me explain. See you guys should have every right to bash me on this. For over ten years I have done the same thing. Buy a system, get everything I want on it look at it in disgust and sell it off. A few months down the road regret and buy it all back.
Fair enough, I just felt like dumping my .02 in... that's all.

I also have a handicap (tremors, hereditary crap) and can't game like I used to, unfortunate but true.
Shit, man, I'm really sorry to hear that.  :(
Runs in the family, progresses as ya get older, and well I'm not getting younger. There are ways to fix it, but they are less than stellar. I live with it best that I can

Quote from: Michirin9801 on 06/25/2017, 04:23 PMThat's deep man!
Thanks ^^

And yeah, I'll (probably) never stop, I may take a while in between each new tune, but I've got plenty of songs that I want to cover, and the HuC6280 is easily my favourite soundchip to make music for, it's so much fun and easy to make awesome music for it! And it has enough channels that I don't have to use yucky arpeggios to make a complex full-bodied song~
Do you take requests?
Your wish has been granted.

Michirin9801 says she is going to do some crazy new arrangement/dance/disco/experimental versions of the Blodia/Timeball songs (all 3 of them).

All other requests are on hold.

:)
I just want my damn 2 unlimited... lol

OK so finally I got a switch...

I need a recommend on a $20 or less game.

I have so far

ARMS, came with it, I really dig it, even thought it can be frustrating at times.
Shantae 1/2 Genie hero, it's Shantae so of course it's good.
Minecraft, Cause I have autism and I like digging holes (one or both of those statements are true or false)

I want the dragons trap remake but I hear it's really short, so that can wait.

My top choices right now.

Thumper
Fast RMX
Graceful Explosion Machine

My Wii is my retro station until I get around to making a pi setup proper, the it'll get moved down to the living room for my uncle to use.

Quote from: Green Beret on 06/18/2017, 08:48 AMI wish I knew about this a week ago when bought a DuO R from him. Too late  ](*,)
I feel you I almost bought one from him ages ago before I knew better, to do such slop work on machines that aren't exactly plentiful, it's a damn shame.

Could always return it to the guy and buy https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=22362.0 mine lol

Please enter me, slowly...

I need real cases for my copies, and anything to puff up the "keep" collection as I sort and clean.

Quote from: guest on 06/17/2017, 08:43 PMSolid deal! Don't see a lot of composite modded duos!
I asked for it when I got it done, easier digging out generic AV cables and the duo-r av port always felt floaty to me.

I'm pairing down my retro stuff (not going away) so you'll see more stuff posted.

Quote from: TR0N on 06/16/2017, 03:33 AMI just choke looking at that price for mega turrican  That's one genesis game i been after for a while now to.
Yeah it's gone up a bit over $100 with the manual, always feel free to toss me an offer or trade fodder, I just might bite.
#231
Quote from: Gypsy on 06/14/2017, 09:36 PMNot that I'm interested as I have a million of em, but the DS price seems sky high even with the flash cart. Just based on what I've seen actually selling on forums, trade groups etc... It's like a $20-25 system. Unless it's mint then perhaps $30+ or so. Dunno what you are valuing the flash cart at. Best of luck with your sales.
Only price I found for a R4(DS) was about $40 all that seems to be around is the 3DS variant now.

People here are always welcome to haggle and whatnot, I'm known for cutting deals.

Thanks for the heads up though ;)

ABOMINABLE:

I won't even get into obvious issues concerning civil liberties (and Thought Police, and other Orwellian tropes).

Instead, I give you:

"Under the new laws, it will make it illegal to plan to commit 277 criminal actions, from arson to copyright infringement."

Copyright infringement.

SILVER LINING: I haven't listened to Queensryche's glorious Operation Mind Crime in the last few years. Time to dig it out.

Nothing like retrograde laws and self-serving fear-mongerers to spark nostalgia.

The fight continues, comrades.
The best thing to come out of this, Mindcrime is a goddamned masterwork...

Quote from: gynt on 06/02/2017, 04:41 PMpeople seem to care way too much about this thing (one way or the other).
majors has a buddy that summed it up perfectly when we were talking about tobias shit, and it kind of applies here too.  "These arent being made for people who know anything about this stuff".

i mean, good for them if they make it and sell a few, but exerting any energy on reverse-engineering the insides of essentially nothing is a waste of time.  accusing them of stealing anything or how it compares to other knock off systems is pointless.  if you think its a dumb idea or want to feel like you "figured it out", then just move along.
Harboring the "only post if you have something good to say" mentality isn't good, at all...

We should be allowed to discuss/debate any topic that comes along, it is a discussion forum after all, if I was carefully curtailed thoughts and a have mind I'll apply for another NEOGAF account.

That said I didn't try to be negative about this product, I just say the direction it was taking a mile back and promptly pumped the brakes, there is a slim chance something good could still happen but I don't see it coming over the horizon.

Quote from: TheClash603 on 05/31/2017, 08:14 AMI am a sicker for these horror movie STs. Evil Dead 2 came out yesterday and I picked it up.
I've got some various ST stuff in my collection, bond movies some Les Baxter if it clicks when I flick thru the local record piles I snatch it up. Old LP's are usually like $2 each really can't balk at that.
#244
So minus CD's the Retro-freak will continue to be the de-facto machine if you want an all-in-one games compatible device?

Seems that's the vibe I am getting anyway.

Once retro-poly-whatever went to secure proper bios'es and crap the drm was assured, and sorry but not being able to pop my current streamlined rom collection over with my legit hard owned copies all at once is big ass deal breaker for myself, and assuredly plenty of others.

Oh well, it sounded kinda neat, but as i have said all along, this was never gonna go very far.

I could still be proven wrong, but that opportunity is closing quickly.

Did you, perchance, take this photo at a Costco?

Anyway, clearly, you are one of the few bastards with enough balls to post a photo! Also, you inspired me to shave my beard and bleach my eyebrows (just kidding). :)

Ha!

We need more folks to post a photo, goddammit. I don't use Bookface or InstaTwitter, so I have no VirtualStalking material for my Dropbox folder.
It was a BJ's so same shit, different warehouse.
