For the time being, try to find a cheap SD2IEC unit for sale online.  This can let you download any program or .D64 disk image from the 'net and load it from a virtual disk.  For games that don't load from SD2IEC (because of fastloaders or copy protection), well, use the real disk drive you have.

You're lucky to have a PAL model.  Most action games & scene demos target PAL machines.

Oh, and try to find an EPYX fastloader cart ASAP (if your C64 doesn't have a fast load cart/JiffyDOS ROM already); it'll preserve your sanity as the C64 disk data rate is glacial...

This and a jiffydos and you'll be pretty well set...

16-bit hands down. The best smattering of all around goodness.

The pong/8bit era can be a close second if sometimes primitive plenty of those games are easy to pick up and go.

The 32-bit era can be hard to go back to, some of the game just do NOT hold up well, even with upscaling/filtering they are still ugly janky foggy framey messes, but there is other stuff that holds the up to test of time.

Everything past that is just prettier/faster/sleeker versions of crap before it, not always for the better...

Also any of the NeoGeo games for on-the-go play.

I bit on snake pass, my kid did the old RNG and it got picked.

I will grab FAST and neo games for sure, just later on.

Love the system, it's comfy for me to use, which is a benefit, the joycon fit well in my hands.

I'm doing some pairing down myself, this habit can get pricey, and well at the moment, I literally cannot afford to be pricey.

I'll regret some stuff but as long as I have a way to play (flash cart/emulation) it's fine it's about the experience for me, not so much the stuff along my walls...

But you put your Duo R here first. There's nothing wrong with pairing down every once in a while. There's something sick about mas' cycle of boom and bust all the fucking time, especially when he gets giddy that he will "make a few dollars on the side" as he said earlier this thread.

And it has enough channels that I don't have to use yucky arpeggios to make a complex full-bodied song~

Not that I'm interested as I have a million of em, but the DS price seems sky high even with the flash cart. Just based on what I've seen actually selling on forums, trade groups etc... It's like a $20-25 system. Unless it's mint then perhaps $30+ or so. Dunno what you are valuing the flash cart at. Best of luck with your sales.

Only price I found for a R4(DS) was about $40 all that seems to be around is the 3DS variant now.

People here are always welcome to haggle and whatnot, I'm known for cutting deals.
