I've never owned it, but I do love the comfy music and atmosphere!

I don't think we did.... I remember the option for it, but I think I made sure not to click it. Probably cost extra too.
#203
OH HELL YES, I'M IN!

Quote from: TheOldMan on 08/08/2012, 08:53 PMI hope you mentioned the job number and name a half dozens times, so this doesn't happen. <crosses fingers>
We are all praying it goes well for you guys :)
Yeah I had to mention the job # several times on the phone actually. That part should be set, it's mentioned in every email subject line. I just hope the tech team will still be working with the same information they used when making the (successful) check disc. Also hope they're able to get a start on this right away so we don't have to wait around.

Quote from: hizaygizirlz on 08/08/2012, 06:17 PMSo if all goes well we are playing this in September?
Yes, if not sooner. It will take 10 business days to produce and 2 - 4 days to ship. At this point it depends on how soon Nationwide Disc starts production.

At last, it's time for the Mysterious Song check disc raffle! There are 15 contestants (sorry Arkhan, I excluded you since you get to keep the Mysterious Insanity disc). A $5 - $9 donation receives one entry into the raffle, $10 - 14 receives two, $15 - 19 receives three, $20 - 24 receives four, and $25 and over receives a maximum of 5 entries. I will be using random.org's random number generator to determine the winners.

The first drawn winner will receive this fully-working replicated "check disc" for the final, complete form of Mysterious Song.

And the follow-up winner will receive this badass hand drawn bonus artwork by CrackTiger!

These prizes will be sent from two separate locations, so shipping time will vary.

I will be posting the randomized user list and winners in the following posts! Good luck!

Hey after seeing this I got curious... has anyone made a replication of the Dragon Slayer map? Or the Ys map for that matter? Or any other added material like this.

LOL god I hope not!

I just got done calling Nationwide to approve production for MSR. Apparently Brian has been out of town, so someone else is sort of filling in for him. She told me to email them my confirmation to start production and, presumably, they will get the balling rolling. I sent them the email and we'll see how it goes!
#212
I can number them if ya'll want, and sign or write some crazy threats.

I'm going to hold off on the raffle just awhile longer, I'm waiting for a PM from CrackTiger on the artwork.

I don't know his username on here, but his first name starts with a D and last name begins with an A.

And no, it's not Dumb Ass.

Quote from: PCEngineHell on 08/04/2012, 10:55 PMCrap, you know there used to be this one arcade stick that was wood based and built by Pelican. I know they made it for Xbox and Ps2 both or something. I used to buy them and gut it and use it for Supergun stuff. The build was great if you dont mind using american style sticks instead of the Japanese ball tops.
Yeah those Pelican sticks are really nice after you swap the buttons out with some happs ones. The fact that they're universal makes them all the better too.
#215
I just checked for ya esteban, you're qualified for the bonus! Order #21 to be exact.

Quote from: guest on 08/03/2012, 07:04 PM"finasco" has been officially added to my vocabulary. Unfortunately, there will be many opportunties to use it. :/
Coooool, an unintentional buzz word! I knew that looked wrong when I typed it, but now that you mention it I kinda like the sound of it!
#217
OK, I've listened to all the CD tracks on my laptop and everything sounds as it should. Since CrackTiger will be out of town for awhile soon, I've mailed the check discs to Arkhan for further compatibility testing.

They should arrive on Monday and if everything works on his hardware, I'll call Brian to approve the replication process ASAP! So with all said and done, we should still see a release within this month!

I'll be holding the raffle over the weekend! I've decided to let Arkhan keep the "Mysterious Insanity" check disc for now to prevent a future Roy Vegas finasco.

Here's some pics of the check discs:

For once I have FANTASTIC news!

I was surprised to see another package in my mail box today addressed to Frozen Utopia, it was the check disc! I didn't even think they had the disc ready yet, let alone shipped it!

I booted it up and played it and ta-da! It says Frozen Utopia on the boot up! This is our game alright. I messed around with it, testing all the languages and game modes and everything seems to work fine so far. Also, I must add, that the game looks amazing on the real set up, even with my crappy TV! I'll play around with it some more and listen through all the redbook before I send it to CrackTiger for further testing.

Will also be doing the raffle soon!
#221
I have still received no emails from Brian, though they should be preparing a new check disc this week.

It would be hilarious to throw in the 1 controller 2p mode for shits n giggles :D

Quote from: OldRover on 07/25/2012, 05:34 PMMy wife was able to bypass their trained monkeys in customer service and go straight to the techs, who all had a good laugh at some of the bullshit Brian has told Keranu. A new stamper will be produced on Friday, and the check disc will be sent out in about a week. Keranu should have it sometime in early August. They cited one minor index issue still remains with the existing master, and I'm going to try to get more specific details on that so it can be ironed out in case... plus, it may help to refine TheOldMan's cuesheet utility.
Wow I don't know how your wife was able to talk to the tech team, Brian seemed to avoid the idea completely whenever I asked if I could get in touch with them. Must be that spicy Latin blood in your wife's DNA! Good thing she called now because I'm going to be out of town this week and wouldn't be able to call on Friday.

I'm still confused as to why they pressed Insanity to a check disc...
#227
I wish we could have direct contact with their technicians, unfortunately we're stuck with customer service to serve as a messenger between our teams. We'll try calling them more frequently, though it's still going to take Brian time to get back to us.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 07/24/2012, 07:46 PMYeah, its baffling that you wouldn't be talking on the phone about this. It's also kind of crazy that they "can't test" the game because they don't have the hardware. Just loan the guys a Duo or at least a copy of Magic Engine. They are idiots, certainly, but you need to understand that you are putting them in a hard situation when you ask them to print a disc in an obsolete format that their software (and everyone else's) doesnt support, they've never heard of, have no specs for, and can't even test. They are flying blind and certainly regret taking on this PITA project at least as much as you regret sending it to them.
I thought about the idea of getting them to use an emulator, but I think it would be too much for them to figure out, nor would they be interested in fiddling around with unfamiliar hardware from three decades ago. But this is what the checkdisc is for anyways so we can make sure everything's working properly before approving a batch of 500 discs.
#228
Still no email since I sent them the bad news last Thursday. I'll shoot them a reminder soon, I'm guessing their scientists are still trying to figure out what's wrong.

Quote from: Keranu on 07/20/2012, 04:24 PMAm I crazy for thinking this level was the funnest in the game? :P
After you figure stuff out, and then execute the platforming, then, yes, the sense of accomplishment is sublime.

I think it makes the Turbo version of Valis III superior to all others. :pcgs:
I thought the concept of freezing enemies to use as delicate, temporary platforms was both novel and very fun! Especially the ones where you have to slide off, causing the character's body to stretch just enough to cover the gap between ledges.
#236
Am I crazy for thinking this level was the funnest in the game? :P
#237
There's even harder levels after this one, too. I recall the ice cave level being the most difficult...

Quote from: PikachuWarrior on 07/20/2012, 12:55 PMFirst game in a long while where I would shout obscenities and have the urge to throw the controller :P
I've been trying to beat Monster Lair lately and I've come very close to throwing my Turbo pad into the television set! Close to beating it now!

I love the music in the PCE version the best.

Is there any interest in throwing in the "Myseterious Insanity" check disc along with the raffle as a second place prize? :P
#240
Quote from: PCEngineHell on 07/18/2012, 09:17 PMJust goes to show you that a already difficult task being handled by what seems to be incompetent people at a pressing facility, who have no actual means to test the product on real hardware anyway before shipping, is going to be near impossible to get finished successfully.
One thing that bothers me about this mishap is they could've at least tested the audio tracks to see if they match the master's. Then again, we have pressured them before that this isn't supposed to be treated as a audio CD. Still, a doofus mistake to stamp the wrong game, lol.

I'll email Brian now and let him know what's going on. My main concern right now is if they will still run into stamper errors with the Mysterious Song masters. I hope they've learned more from project Insanity other than they can replicate that game and not ours.
#241
Quote from: guest on 07/18/2012, 08:21 PMWhat's the buzz sound issue?
One of the initial problems Nationwide had with our masters was a short buzz sound that occurred from playing the data track in a CD player. Insanity has a very similar buzz sound when booted up, though coincidentally it had nothing to do with the data track.

Quote from: vestcuntAs far as the name-calling, I understand the frustration, but it seems both parties have made errors and two pages of outrage every time there's a holdup doesn't put anyone in a good mindset when the project calls for patience, troubleshooting, and clear communication.
I've always been friendly and patient with Brian in our communication and will continue to do so. But this latest incident is a big, goofy fuck up on their part.
#242
Oh. My. GOD! You guys aren't going to believe this one, or maybe some of you will.

So I finally get a response from Brian today. Good news! He's supplied a UPS tracking number and it's set to arrive at my house when I got home from work!

Sure enough, I get home and there's a package sent to "Frozen Utopia" sitting on the table. Woo boy, I'm excited! Just a few test runs and we can finally get this baby mass produced!

I rush to pop the disc into my Turbo Duo. It says "Project: Mysterious" on the see-through case and CD face; our beloved project finally on a professional medium! The system is turned on, the screen demands for the RUN button to be pressed. Controller in hand, my thumbs waste no time to boot the game up.

The vanish of the System Card screen is accompanied by a familiar BUZZZT! sound. I recognized this sound right away, which is discussed many pages back in this very thread. "Darn, oh well. Guess that's unavoidable, I can live with it," I assure myself. The CD continues to load...

And then comes the horror! Horrible, horrid, horror! Rather than the Frozen Utopia logo appearing as it's supposed to, I get a surprise greeting from AETHERBYTE STUDIOS!

That's right, those jackasses sent me INSANITY instead of OUR OWN game!

At first I laughed and said "You HAVE to be kidding me!" But then the terrible reality sunk into my mind. Not only will this delay our cursed game even further, but this means Nationwide may yet again run into the same stamper problem when we ask for a new check disc, leaving the "it won't play in our PC" cycle to repeat.

But in the hopes that they are able to replicate a check disc for Mysterious Song, and not Insanity, I refuse to pay them any further dollars for their own fuck up.

I wish this was a sick practical joke. I'll take some pictures later.
