2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

I've just found out about Champions Forever Boxing Black and Red label variants (I'm not sure which is rarer or if it matters to anyone). I am curious if any others in the US library have such variants.

With the release of the new Cyber Core review, I thought it would be fun to see what was left on the hucard side of things for Turbo Views. I have the list above in the poll. Thought it would be fun to see what everyone else wanted to see next.

Anyone gonna drop $500 on this piece of shit?

For $500 couldn't I just use all original parts, mod it, and end up with the same product. In fact, wouldn't I save money that way?

I'd like a copy of this game. I plan on sending it away to make a hack version of Zelda Outlands so I don't need a label to be intact (it will be replaced anyway) but I would like the board and shell to be in good shape.

Thanks in advance.

General Gaming / X360 fix?
06/08/2015, 07:33 AM
I'm wondering if anyone here does any fixes for a red ringed xbox360? I bought it from a store that was going out of business. Screaming deal when I got it. It was supposed to be brand new but red ringed right out of the box. I think some asshole bought it and then returned it with his broken xbox inside. Anyway Microsoft won't do anything but offer me a bill of over $100 to fix it so I said fuck them...in the ass. It's sat in my closet for 4-5 years and it just occurred to me that folks here do mods. Gotta be someone that'll fix a 360 too, right? Anyone do this kind of work? If so, what kind of price range am I looking at most likely to get it up and running?

I wanted to inform all of you that in the span of about 5 minutes today I was able to both start and complete the process required to become an Ordained Minister and a Doctor of Metaphysics.

Why is this here, you ask? I wanted to let you all know that I don't descriminate. If any of you would wish to become legally wed to your Duos or any other Turbo/PCE Paraphrenalia, I am ready and willing to preform the ceremony. I've picked out some lovely wedding licenses that look quite antiquated in their nature (floral and elaborate) and are perfect for framing on the wall.

4 years ago today I purchased my first OBEY gear. A TG16 system and about 10 games for $40, found in the wild. I was reborn that day. Anyone else remember their OBEY Day?

General Gaming / PS2 fan group on facebook
03/22/2015, 03:07 AM
I just started a closed group on facebook specifically for folks with north american ps2 hardware as the other group seems to be overrun with "PES vs Fifa?" fucking threads of the third world. Join up if you're interested.

General Gaming / GamePro PS2 Action Discs
01/17/2015, 03:05 AM
I have one of these action discs and have no clue how I got it but am sure I've had it as long as I've had the system. I never subscribed to anything other than EGM so no idea how I got it. It does some pretty awesome stuff for me when I play The Thing. I was just wondering if there are more of them out there. Anyone have any? Know where there might be a list of these with a discription of what each does? Know where I can possibly shop for more?

Thx

Off-Topic / Laser disc help?
12/26/2014, 02:03 AM
I have a second hand movie and CD store near my place that has quite a stockpile of laser discs. All seem to be priced at about $2 each and I am wondering if anyone knows how much I should fork out for a player and secondly, if there are any specific discs that are either rare or oddities that I should be on the look out for. Is there a good site anyone knows of that will have a catalog of everything with a rough second hand market value to them?

This turd is so irritating. Clearly he has no clue what he's talking about.

" I think Ys got its start on TurboGrafx."
"No, that was the PC Engine."

"My Order of the Griffon didn't come with a CD case like it was supposed to."

Seriously ?!

Also, this is a list of hidden gems? Pac-Land is no gem. Veigues is no gem. World Court Tennis is no gem. They are all just hidden, and they should stay that way. Cadash may be a gem but it was on Genesis. It's not hidden. Like half their list doesn't work for this context.

I don't understand why they even made this video. Is he that delusional that he thinks people want to see his goofy doofus face. No one wants to see a long haired pudgy chinless version of Kay from Sword in the Stone. Yet 30k+ people have watched this shit smear's video. What the hell?!

General Gaming / Neo Geo vs Super CD
12/13/2014, 05:28 AM
Anyone played any of the Neo Geo games that got ported to as CDs for the Duo? I'm wondering how they stack up when compared.

These:
Art of Fighting
Fatal Fury 2
Fatal Fury Special
World Heroes 2

Round 3. Pick 4.
#17
Clearly every one of us made the correct choice when it came to choosing a platform to play this game.
#18
I eliminated the ones that couldn't reach double digits and realize my error of giving you folks too many votes so I've halved that.
#19
Round 2. Pick 10.
#20
Much like my worst huey poll, I'm doing the opposite.

Pick 15
#21
Make 'em count
#22
Round 3, Commence.
#23
I took all the ones from the other poll that had votes in the double digits. Commence.
#24
I gave you the option for up to 15 votes. I think you have to vote for them all at once. Went ahead and put every US huey up there to choose from.

I wanna hear what you guys think. Which games that were released for both PCE and TG16 but were clearly better releases in North America. Please exclude any critique on the language barrier.

Conversely, I have another thread started for the opposite here:

Make your argument!

Mine: Playstation 2

*With an exceptional library that covers just about everything, it's not hard to find several games worth playing regardless of what dictates to you what is worth playing. I'd argue no system has a library better in wide range and quality than Playstation 2. You have compilations from older systems from Atari to Sega Genesis with titles like the Activision Anthology, Taito classics, Sega Genesis Collection, Mega Man Collections and more. Survival horror? Yeah we got several Silent Hill releases, Resident Evil releases and lesser known titles like the X-files game, Clock Tower 3, Cold Fear and others. Light gun games? How 'bout access to 4 Time Crisis games, Resident Evil Dead Aim, End Game, and Dino Crisis. RPGs? Like 10 Final Fantasy releases, Castlevania, and many more. Several fighter games like the DBZ boudokai and Mortal Kombat series. Open world/sandbox games like 3 GTA games, Gun and many more. Stealth games from Tom Clancey to Hitman. God of War I and II, sports games, the list is nearly endless. This system literally had several games in each genre that were all worth owning then and now. This system has a plurality of games that are worth buying the system for and not the other way around.
*It had backwards compatibility like all systems really should. It even carried over to hardware. Sony kept the same controller design from PS1 because it made sense. There really isn't anything wrong with that controller at all. How many times have we been annoyed with a controller change with the next generation of consoles? That didn't happen here.
*It was fantastically received by consumers (150M+ consoles sold), which means the secondary market is affordable now.
*It had beautiful graphics that are still as vibrant and in some cases (see: God of War series or Shadow of the Colossus specifically) still awe inspiring.

I've noticed that a lot of people enter this console's market based on a few games and don't really have a huge knowledge of what is available. I think this is why we have "I'm new/What should I buy" threads.

I want to create a guide to each game based on a consensus of everyone here's thoughts on each individual game that we can then sticky (maybe a sticky for each kind of game i.e. US Hucards, US CDs, Homebrews, JAP Hucards, and JAP CDs) for reference later.

I figure I can do this one of two ways. Have a single thread with every game listed and ask for feedback. While this would be quicker, I think it may be asking too much. The other way is to have several threads with 3-5 specific games in each for review.

I need to know if anyone is interested in participating and second which method of the two described is preferred.

I've been buying bulk games lately. This seems like the only way to get things at a decent price on ebay. I bought a lot of PS2 games, and it seems like everyone is scratched to hell. The retro gaming store that I know does resurfacing, wants $4 a disc. I have on occasion been able to get a good deal in there (Neutopia 2 for $40) otherwise I would have told them to f&$% their mothers. I can't drop a hundred bucks on resurfacing just the discs in this lot. Anyone have any feedback on home resurfacing brands, models, or DIY tips? And I don't mean the cheap jerk-off-practice crank ones. I'm talking heavy duty scratches

Buy/Sell/Trade / Home made fridge magnets
06/28/2014, 01:12 AM
If I started making things like this, any chance anyone here would be interested in them? I've found locally at the flea market I sold out of Sonic and Mario equivalents in minutes. I'd be able to take requests within reason on the design if need be.

I am toying with the idea of making my signature a list of what I have for trades and what I am hunting for. Just wondering 2 things.

1: Is anyone going to take notice?

2: Anyone going to do the same?

I kind of like the idea of just seeing a post by someone or someone seeing my post and knowing right away if he or I have the potential for a deal. Any thoughts on it?

I suppose the limit of characters doesn't help but short of 2 games (magical chase and world court tennis) I was able to fit all the american hucards I need and all my obey trade bait into the sig below. I suppose all trade bait (I have plenty of non-obey trade bait) or all wants might work better
