Quote from: seieienbu on 10/21/2015, 06:21 PM3D platformers has never exactly been my favorite genre.  That being said, I thought that the Sly Cooper series was magnificent.

Seeing Maximo kinda made me wonder if you guys are doing a Halloween episode.  There's a million spooky games out there.  Resident Evil, Ghosts and Goblins, Splatterhouse, Zombies ate my Neighbors, Alone in the Dark, etc
3D platformers are hit and miss for me, like a case by case basis. There are plenty I like, and plenty I don't. Just depends I guess.

Quote from: Sarumaru on 10/21/2015, 03:55 PMI wanna say thanks to Joe (and Dave) for stopping by my booth as well. It was good to meet DK also, funny though because we crossed paths at CGE one year and didn't even know it. :P It was good to see Syphic again too. Last time we hanged, neither of us was sober for long lol. Definitely going to PRGE next year!
Like was mentioned before, we really should try to get a group together of us for next year. Would have been that more epic!
I second the notion, definitely a group photo next year.

Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 10/19/2015, 03:41 PMAlright guys, here are some photos at the convention I took this year. Unfortunately I didn't find Aaron (Joe even asked about him). One word to describe this beast: Overstimulation. By far the largest convention I have ever experienced yet. I also managed to play Joust pinball, man that game is so unique. Think of battle pinball and you got it. A vast majority of these pictures are of my buddy wanting to get pics of hot cosplay chicks. Anyway, linky:

Ha ha dude I got my picture taken too with the lady dressed up as Jade, she was really super nice. I posted a pic of it in the Portland retro gamers group on fb. BigusSchmuck, your friend's Napalm Death shirt is where it's at man, that's legit \m/
Yeah, he's a old childhood friend, this is the first time in 14 years we have hung out together. He loved the cosplay stuff and is an absolute savant when it comes to Street Fighter 2. Dude doesn't live that far from you Eugene Oregon. That town is a trip, I can't believe how many barcades were there (Portland has 1, really?).
yeah its kinda funny that Portland only has 1, especially since we have 1 here in Salem and even Lincoln City has 1. I have yet to visit any in Eugene but I'm aware of them.

Well shoot yeah that would have been rad to get a PCEFX group photo. Oh well always next year. Are you local to Portland area BigusSchmuck? Ha ha did he call you Dark Kobold on purpose or is there a running joke behind that im not aware of?
#10
I used to have this game. From I remember it was about the right amount of easy and challenging at least for me. What I remember most though is the opening cinema ha ha lol. I completely forgot all about going through that town area in the beginning. I hated that part ha ha.
#11
I have two, my Turbo Grafx Devil's Crush t-shirt (it's original) and my Splatterhouse shoelaces
#12
Dude hell yes, this is awesome. I've always wanted to play this game and actually KNOW what was going on. woo hoo!!!
#13
Yes this game truly is pure awesome, the colors to the sprite animations and the insanely awesome soundtrack. I can manage to get sorta far on my own skill, but I have to use that cheat code to be able to make it to the final boss.
#14
I didn't have my own TG-16 yet back than but I remember when I was a kid there was a couple of places in my town that had TG16 games for rental. Alligator Video and Syd's Video both on lancaster. I think the local Albertson's Grocery store in my area may have had some too for a short while at least. I vaguely remember looking at the back of the box for Bonk's Revenge inside an Albertson's. Could have been another grocery store but Im pretty sure it was Albertsons.

I voted yes, would prefer for the packing to be branded as a reproduction but even if it wasn't I'd still buy.
#17
I was gonna say Buster Bros. but looks like it already got mentioned. I think Galaxy Gayvan could be a contender, it's multi-player.
#18
I finally got back a copy of Galaxy Gayvanand Mystic Formula. Now only 10 or so more games before I can have my PC Engine collection back to where it once was. Next on my list is Horror Story. I really miss that game.
#19
I would consider packing and moving anything of any substantial value game wise your self. I would never trust a moving company to do it for me, but than lots of my collection is CIB I suppose if it weren't I'd be less afraid of the idea. When I moved 7-8 years ago I wrapped every 6-8 games in some kinda wrap (paper, towels, bubble wrap etc etc) depending on what it was and did small boxes of no more than like 30-50 games per box so it wouldnt be to heavy to lift. Luckily I was just moving like 6 blocks down so didn't have far to go, but my factory stock tv from the store display xbox console kiosk did sustain some minor damage to my not securing it good enough.
#20
That is one of the coolest DIY ideas I've ever seen. Props my man, props!

Hello all, just thought I'd say hello and reintroduce myself. Been a somewhat long time member off and on. Since around 2008 or so. I was around for the whole nintega thing for those who may remember that debauchery, and many other fine drama filled soap opera like moments on teh fine internets. Looking forward to much OBEY here in the future. Been recently booting back up some turbob goodness and must say it's been too long. Figure there are probably a lotta new cats around these here parts so should introduce my self proper. Currently enjoying me some Spriggan and soon some Mystic Formula.
#23
You know it's funny, I saw those completed listings that guy had sold, the Terraforming and Super Air Zonk for $750 each on ebay just this weekend, and WOW, but oddly enough he accepted my $50 offer for Mystic Formula which I will be glad to have back in my collection.
#25
I first got my own personal Turbo set up back in 2001, but my playing experience with Turbo goes back at least another 10 years prior, back in '91. I remember one of my close buddies back in grade school got one and I had a NES and often we would trade back and forth and borrow eachother's systems often, usually for a week or two at a time, every couple of months or so. I also have very vivid memories of playing games like Bonk's Adventure and Legendary Axe on a store TG-16 kiosk display back in very early nineties at Fred Myer's and Best. Also remember playing Devil's Crush at a store called Incredible Universe back in the day, on there store display unit. I will never forget my own personal purchase though of my very own Turbo, best $100 big package deal I ever bought(well 1 of many at least).
#26
ha ha lol as crazy as this sounds, I remember this post/sale from a few years ago.
#27
Cotton is definatly worth cracking open, I suggest if you are not able to find a trade you tear of that plastic PDQ and pop it in your Duo. Fun times to be had there my friend.
#28
count me in for sure too please  :D
#29
wow these have been some really cool ideas, I think im gonna try some of these.
#30
man this is such a hard one to answer I think. It's really pretty hard to choose cause there are so many, but off the top of my head what comes to mind for some of my favorite shooters are Cyber Core, Soldier Blade, Gate of Thunder, Psychic Storm, Spriggan, Lords of Thunder, and Air Zonk.
#31
LMAO man this thread has been an extremely funny read, I still think the funniest stuff though was all that Nintega stuff from 3 or so years ago.
#32
Well thats even more news to me dude, I seriously did not know till you saying so just now that it was made by another member for free for other members.
#34
So I was looking through some old threads and what not via a reply to a quote of another unrelated thread and saw a link to that anime4ever.de site, and remember that was they guy that was selling those Saphy boots, and saw that Rockman Super CD rom game, looks really nice package wise, and really want to get my hands on one of those assuming they were actually put into print by that guy, so yeah does anybody know how I can get one or if it's possible to still buy from that site, I tried clicking on the "email me" link but it did not work.
#35
So not that it is related to this thread at all, but Vestcunt(or anyone who may know) I was reading up a bit in that thread that you linked in your quote/reply and saw a link to anime4ever.de and clicked on it. I saw that the guy had that sapphy boot, along with now a Rockman apparently, so my ? is, is it possible at all to still get that from him, does anyone know, I tried to click on that "email me" link but it doesnt go anywhere.

Not that I can think of. Maybe Keith Courage? I have no idea what the PCE had pack-in wise, or if they even bundled systems with games over there.
Some PC Engine games enjoy a little extra popularity because of better cover art and better packaging. Also, there were some stupid censoring/localization decisions that drive fans to the PCE versions (Splatterhouse, Devil's Crush, Bonk, Zonk, the Working Designs games).  TTI put as much hype as they could muster behind Lords of Thunder and Air Zonk, but I'm sure their print runs were still small compared to Japan. We know Ys 1-2 had at least three different printings and Dungeon Explorer 2 got an extra 1,000 discs, but both remain rarer than the PCE versions.[/quote]
Whoa so DE II had an extra 1000 discs printed, as in w/no case or manual? This is something I did not know, hmmmm......interesting.

Quote from: JapanTokei on 04/30/2012, 10:18 PMReason all these things are going up in value are ppeople reaching back for the days of simplicity compared to todays alwayson- smartphone facebook culture.  Back then if i cant reach someone by landline, well he betrer have an answering machine!  Ha.

Magic is classic.  The fact its still going strong proves that garfield guy was a genius when he made this.  I wish i kept my collection.  Sold everyging for 350 before i went to college.
It is classic, I still play to this day, I started when Unlimited had been out and not to much longer Revised came along. I bought lots of Legends and even Antiquities boosters back than, Dark hadn't even been released quite yet. Anywho, I quit with Tempest(bad choice IMO I should have waited to quiit after the Urza block) than in 2004 I picked it back up with the Mirrodin block, quit that same year and sold all my cards a few years later for about $2,500. Regret ever doing that, anyways picked it up again with the Shards block and have ben playing strong since than.
#38
Yep so very true man, I wish too that I had my original collection as well. I had 5 FoW's, 2 Berserks, 4 Sinkhole's, 4 Mana Drains, 2 Library of Alexandria's, list goes on. Never had a Black Lotus but I did have at least 1 of each of the Mox's. I also lead it up to the fact that everyone around my age (29) has finally reached that point in their careers(most likely) where they have money to spend and relish in their minds days of their youth and yearn for the things they once had as a child and in their teenage years, I know I do.
#39
to add to this, I often troll my local craigslist for deals on magic cards, I bought a dudes collcetion for $20 about 3 months ago that included a Vampiric Tutor(original), 2 Force of Wills, and Cruel Tutor, and 2 Sol Rings(revised).
#40
Quote from: JapanTokei on 04/30/2012, 09:48 PMSo were now totally of fuckin topic but while on this magic topic..  The prices ate goig insane as well on them.  Unlimited black lotus now go eegularly for 1k on ebay.  It was tops 200 back in 97/98.  Dual lands or even force of wills go for easy 50 bucks a pop.  Damn.
It is gauging too but not related to turbo..

Quote from: guest on 04/30/2012, 07:22 PMFurther derailing, dork bragging...

I played Magic starting with Beta in '93 until about '98. I got Time Walk in one of my first six booster packs. I had a beta Jet, an unlimited Ruby, a set of 40 dual lands, every blue card from Beta to Alliances, a Dark set, and most of Arabian Nights. Highlights were my first-turn Juzam Djinn in a tournament and my blue Time Walk/Stasis/Regrowth "lock" deck.

Punk rock eventually saved my life and dumped those fucking cards.

Not really gouging, but the typo + "14 sold" is funny.
Right on another magic player, man yeah everything that is collectible these days(everything I use/play/watch/collect anyways) is often price gouged, MTG cards, Transformers, rare OOP horror VHS/DVD, metal/punk/death/grind/thrash vinyl, even lmtd ed sets of certain many Anime's
#41
pm sent dude, hopping to nab something if still avaliable.

Quote from: SuperPlay on 03/28/2012, 01:28 PMCompleted Bonanza Bros. over the weekend and have now moved onto Legendary Axe.

I also still need to complete Dungeon Explorer.  Got a little board at stage 12 as it does not cut the mustard in single plater mode for me.   That reminds me I also have Neutopia to finish amongst others ;-)
Man I have yet to finish Dungeon Explorer or Neutopia myself.
#48
Man Cadash is a lot of fun. I love that the TG version had all 4 characters. I have only beat it with the Ninja, guess I know what Im gonna do tonight, try and beat with a different character. I will honestly admit though I do prefer the color palette a little better on the Genesis version.
#49
Yeah I love the music in Cybercore, great stuff  :D
#50
Yeah I suppose your right it very well could be a typo, who knows, I've yet to get a single response back from them though and the price remains the same. To be honest I know full well this game is not even worth the $50 asking price it once was, even sealed, so guess I'll be waiting for one to show up elsewhere, no big.

And yeah Zeta, your absolutely right, it takes more than the seller with bad, high prices for things to get even worse, in fact Id bet that uneducated retro gamers who don't do there research are more to blame for bad prices on retro games these days.

I did want to put this in that "Gouging Much" thread that already exists and has for the past few years, but was extremely short on time and thus did not bother to search for the thread.
