Has anybody actually tried to write program code for the PAL TG16? I've said before I don't believe any exists. It'd be nice to at least have a tech demo of how real 50hz games would've performed.
#2
Edit: I better think about this.
#3
same here. where have the 2 button pads gone?

Buy/Sell/Trade / Wanted: PCE controller
10/01/2012, 01:51 AM
Simple, any color. Thanks!
#5
Hey getting back into PCE. Just ordered Air Zonk from Japan. Except I need the console...

I'd prefer CD ability. Maybe even RGB and US/JP switch if at reasonable price.
Though CoreGrafx would be an OK starter. (white PCE requires AV mod or the expansion unit)

Also send me your game list. Especially loose hucards!

Buy/Sell/Trade / Mega Drive 1 wanted
12/12/2011, 09:47 PM
I need a Mega Drive please. Preferably PAL because some games require it. JPN/Asia/etc is also OK.
But it does not have to work. Or even contain the system board inside. Just its case shells are still useful to me. Thanks!

And no, to any jokers out there (unless you're Heath Ledger )... I don't mean Genesis. Read the title again.
#7
Fantasy Star Soldier anyone? Maybe the Ys IV fan translation if that patch is complete enough. I'd like to see more games have competent yet obvious booties. Something readily told from an original, while still blowing away the ugliness of normal burned copies or the kind of crappy bootlegs often associated with Hong Kong/etc pirates.
#8
Not really. Language barrier is a stumbling block in any case.

Quote from: elabit on 06/23/2011, 08:15 PMhmmmm buy a nice used car or motorcycle or a system you can't even play???? :-k
for that price I could have a small army of LTs  :D
To think I find loose AV Famicoms overpriced. XD.

Likely. My SNES import adapter got pulled... I was lucky enough to buy on ebay, an NES powerpak and a Japanese Saturn the listing says is CD-R modded. Hope these work right when they arrive.

Speaking of ebay I'd noticed there are more copies of Stadium Events for sale than Turbografx CD drives now. When the heck did that attachment suddenly become so difficult to acquire? Only like a year or two ago IIRC you could at least find broken ones from time to time. I guess it doesn't matter for me though.

Expect me to sometime in the indeterminate future poke around and see who in the US has an unwanted PC-FX then. :)

Quote from: Lum on 06/16/2011, 03:38 AMCan't we simply agree the U.S. model Duo was trash from the start and move on? A long history of trouble related to them as this topic shows without any doubt.
They weren't "trash".  Just the first.  They seem to have the same issues as the PC Engine Duos.  Taking in account the age of these systems, and the time they were released, I'd say they were actually pretty good.  :)  Plus, what he was "expecting it to do" was something the system wasn't designed for anyway.
Well... So copies WILL burn out my Duo-R no question? I have one of those Sapphire boots from here, just without an arcade card to try it.

Ah. Yeah sorry if I was unclear, that list is the games I'm hoping you guys might offer me.

What I currently own:

(JPN hucard)
Son Son 2

(JPN CD)
Akumajou Dracula X
Fatal Fury Special
Sapphire (copy from a board member)
Lum

(US CD)
Gate of Thunder / Bonk combo
Ys 1&2

Topic revised a bit. What turbo games would a fan of Mega Man 2-6 and X1-X4 love? That'll be an easy way to point me in the right direction.
#16
I wouldn't at all be surprised if the American SMS slowly begins to gain value. Entering 'sega master system console' as an ebay search already brings up fewer than 2 dozen units located in USA.
#17
Not enough post count here either. If there's somebody who can vouch me for me I could use:
back insert for Ys I&II
front and back insert for Gate of Thunder/Bonk

Otherwise ignore this post. :)
#18
Heh. I'd probably buy a Turbo CD or Duo complete in box 100% *scientifically* provable was purchased in the state. Just to show my support. Not that any such receipt or something left wouldn't be faded beyond all human recognition by now... >_>
#19
Hey I'm curious about Turbo regional distribution way out here back when it was active supported. How much NEC console related inventory did typical retailers stock in this area? Had they quit carrying it earlier than other parts of the nation? Were there otherwise-common titles that seemingly ended up bordering on impossible to find new? I missed that era myself, not old enough at the time to know about TG16.

If you have stories of the sort on other "less mainstream" systems like Neo Geo, 3DO, Lynx, etc, I'd be interested in hearing them too.
#20
Duplicates? Man, I have just 1 hu card right now. :(
#21
I don't yet really have a want list formed for this system. Most interested in platformers. Followed by shmups. Some puzzle games, RPGs, or fighters OK too. Text adventures, strategy, sports, etc, are unlikely to be of interest. Still almost anything good is an option. My system is a region mod Duo-R.

Let me know if there's a cost difference between US and Japan versions. Be patient, I'm not familiar with Turbo prices. I'd rather deal with minor trial and error than spend way more for the same game.

Incomplete is generally preferred on hucards. It can be a major savings for some titles. Leaves more money to put toward games, rather than clutter of manuals/etc I rarely read anyway.
CD games I'd like the case inserts when available. Don't need spine cards if they cost extra. Not my thing.

Sample list of games I'm considering to buy:
Alien Crush
Devil's Crush
Neutopia
Neutopia 2
Bomberman 93
Bomberman 94
Star Parodier
Blazing Lazers / Gunhed
Ordyne
Final Soldier
Galaga
Street Fighter II

Also could use an Arcade Card Duo. Maybe a better model controller too. These early Avenue Pad 6's like mine aren't all that great.

Quote from: bernielindell on 05/08/2011, 09:09 PMHey guys.  Blue sent me a few extra, so if anyone here would like one, please private message me.  I may overlook a reply here in the forums, so its best to message me.  I actually have 4 left since I sent one out already.  Of course, like our buddy Blue here did, they will be free.
OK. message sent. we can talk about that. :)
#23
I'm interested in the Ys. Message sent.
#24
What's keeping all those people from having to liquidate the games out of credit card debt anyway? In these times surely money will dry up somehow.
#25
More or less in the $15 ballpark each would be nice, though I'm open to discuss. :)
#26
I have a complete Vigilante and The Legendary Axe. Both with cardboard box. As shown here. Let me know if you need more pics.
#27
Makes me curious if flooding pawn and thrift shops with turbo commons would help, lol.
#28
What better resources to determine Turbo game pricing are there?
#29
I haven't noticed an issue with Japan post yet. It's the UK that's gotten hit hard by delays for me.
#30
Oh boy. I forget where it was I have trouble. It wasn't so much a specific place, as the general difficulty. Somewhere in level 3 or 4. I didn't get too far really.
#31
Nah, this is worse than it sounds. I should be looking for help in not buying such systems to begin with.
#32
I'm too used to having access to numerous dirt cheap games available locally. That's what I always grew up with.

My fault. I need to control myself better. I tend to get impulsive by buying costly or obscure consoles without researching them first. I did that with PC-FX and Neo Geo also. Might be the case with FM Towns Marty as well, I've got one of those in the pipeline...
#33
Well at least unless I move to Japan. Then there's a treasure trove of PCE goodness, no import needed! :)
#34
Welcome! Er, I'm opposite of you topic creator. Trying to be rid of TG rather than starting it.
#35
Nevermind. I shouldn't run my mouth late at night when I need sleep, end up saying goofy things.
#36
Oh! Now I get it! THAT makes sense. Japanese ones must be more of an improvement than I thought. I guess they gave us cheaper parts here across the pond?
#37
Don't mind it. Like I said in the first post, lack of research. I honestly did not know how much smaller its library of american games was.

Quote from: BlueBMW on 01/18/2011, 09:58 PMIts not too bad a system :P  It'd make a great beater play unit.  The one you toss in your backpack to head over to a buddy's house kind of unit.  The one to tinker with and regiod mod, and LED mod, and RGB mod, and whatever mod

As far as reliability.. I think we've got duo's pretty well pegged as far as repairing them.  They seem much more restorable than TG16/CD units (hopefully we'll change this soon!!)

In any event, good luck with the sale!
Thanks. What I should do here is lift the (understandable) veil of skepticism, given the issues often encountered by US CD drives. I admit us users with few posts don't carry much weight. So I need some more convincing way to make readers accept the fact that this system *does* work. Not easy in the era of photoshopping, etc.
#38
I suppose you're right. There's too few Duos in circulation to really peg it down well. Making me open to quite some leeway on this one. If anything keeps the price a bit high, it's my strong confidence in this unit's reliability. All CD systems have moving parts that wear down. That's unavoidable.
#39
I'm doing this to avoid the fees after all. Gotta look at total cost of it here. And as typical for less "popular" systems, Turbo stuff had horrid regional distribution. Much harder to find in certain parts of the country...

Quote from: Lum on 01/17/2011, 09:31 PMI'm sure if it all works that PS2 being in the box with accessories and games could fetch $40 at least.
Dont really need the games, but if you want it all together that's fine.  How much do you think to ship?
The PS2 in the box is a bit tricky. Probably will end up around 7LB once packed.

It's OK, I'll leave them out then. Mentioning the games was for marketing purposes. Figured I'll get more interest that way.

Looks like we all underestimated splatterhouse. omg.
#41
The hard-to-find converter is for playing import PC Engine hucards, on a US Turbografx. I don't know their current selling price.
#42
I'm sure if it all works that PS2 being in the box with accessories and games could fetch $40 at least.
#44
Well I'm not sure what's of similar worth. US duos are becoming scarce to the point where I can't even find a value to peg on all this. I'd suspect pushing the $300 point if lucky. IIRC, PCE adapters alone are good money these days.
#45
Hello! I've lurked around and decided I'd like to sell or trade these here. Rather than let feebay take a hefty cut. Good starter setup I will guarantee fully functional.

I gathered most of the stuff over several months from folks at digitpress (if you see this, thanks again). Yet it turns out NEC consoles just aren't my thing. Partly as I didn't do enough research to know there were comparatively few good English games than Japanese. So I'm hoping for items of more appeal in return!

I'd prefer trades and to keep it as a lot. Though I'll gladly break them up. As for selling make a fair offer. Price negotiable, but please no blatant lowball.

I'm in the US. Postage varies by destination. International is OK if you'll willing to cover the rate to your country and don't mine whatever customs fee may apply for something of this value.
