Money Orders from your USA banks...

Hey guys i am trying to understand and help an American guy as a Money Order that he sent from his bank got lost when he mailed it regular post to me in Canada.

He no longer has the MO stub and says that he is now out the money as it is not traceable by the bank.
He is willing to get another 1 and eat the cost but it is over $50 and i would think the banks would be able to find that MO number under his name and look into it.

agian i have no clue as i am from canada, but does this sound right?

Just thought i would ask some of my American friends here who do MO's, i dont think he does many of these and since its going to canada maybe thats the problem. just wondering guys.

Without the stub, you're kinda at a loss. Unless the Money Order has his name on it (some banks do this IIRC) and/or has an account with that bank, then they should be able to help him out. He needs to talk to higher up managers and until he gets the help he needs. But that assumes they can somehow identify him as the purchaser.

As far as I know, you always need the stub.  Happened to my grandma once where she paid a bill, but didn't get credited.  She didn't have the MO and was out the money.

thanks guys... just wanted to be sure there were no other options and i do trust the guy so i am sure all will end well, just hate that he is out that kinda cash just like that!!!
