Been getting caught up on MSX Homebrew from all over the world:
Myths and Dragons game: Spain
MSX Slot-expander: France
RAM Upgrade: Japan
SD-HDD Interface: Europe (This was a freebie)
V9990 Graphics Chip: Brazil
OPL4 Music Cart: Korea

And it all works beautifully together.

Dug a Hori Berretta out of Hardoff for 1,000yen today. Guncon clone, full metal, weighs about 3lbs. Best lightgun I've ever used.

Wired up a minidin to a spare Famicom 3D System Adapter I had in the closet.  Not totally finished so it looks a bit ghetto, but it works.  This is for use on the X68000.  Playing Castlevania in 3D is mind-blowing with it's multiple layers of parallax.  Totally worth it if you have a real system.

Yay new rom!
I can actually move around in Stage 3 now yay!
But on Stage 3 M 004, there is a switch activated wall/door I can't open.
There is a room before this with 2 switches, regardless if I push the top one only, bottom one only, or both the wall/door does not open.  If I push any of the switches, then enter the room again they reset and I can push them again.  So it seems the game is forgetting I pushed the switches as soon as I exit the room.

Also, unless you are just fucking with me, I have figured out the "invincibility" bug.
Enemies and enemy projectiles will give me a proper game over.
However if I lose my last HP by jumping up into spikes, it actually resets my HP to 255!
This works on the very first screen of the game, and it works every single time.

Screenshots, notice I am at 0 HP and still alive, then one more jump into the spikes, and I'm now at 255 HP.   8)

Been a long time since I've picked up anything at all, but this randomly appeared and was cheap.

Hattary Plus, this is actually a collection of 4 doujin games (plus an extras disk), from 2 different dev teams.  And oddly, it includes a home made soundtrack for Nemesis 90 Kai on cassette tape lol.

Palit G-Panel.  I just have a thing for silly uneeded pc parts like this.

Road Blaster and Thunder Storm were also released on DVD-ROM for Windows PCs.  They were ported by a doujin team, but fully licensed.  Fully patched they officially support Windows 8.  Both are excellent ports, Road Blaster even adds some exclusive features such as an optional video blurring effect for when you hit the turbo or break.  Highly recommended and pop-up for sale on amazon japan quite often.

As for actual SuperGrafx games, there are only 5.

Battle Ace
Granzort
1941
Aldynes
Daimakaimura

There are also 2 HuCard+ (bi-compatible) games.
Darius Plus
Darius Alpha
(When played on a SuperGrafx, they use the extra background layer to decrease sprite flicker)

Well I got tired of messing around with scalers and 20 year old CRTs that tend to have random issues.  So I said fuck it and bought this beast.  Truly brand new (manufactured in 2014) true flat auto trisync arcade monitor.  Very expensive I'll admit, but I couldn't be more pleased.

That cover looks pretty awesome!  Google says that it's an action game?
Yeah it's kinda of a cross between Tower of Druaga and Gals Panic with boss fights if that makes any sense lol.  Music is quite enjoyable too.
Jesus Christ I wish I could sneak into superdeadite's apt. and play all his games when he was sleeping.

Yes, I know that sounds demented.
If you visit, you are welcome to play, no need to sneak.

The modern PC on the right:
i3 Haswell 4340 (3.6ghz)
MSI GTX 770 Lightning
8gb RAM
Sata III SSD
Win 7

The monitor may be old, but maximum res is QXGA@85 and no lag.  Analog Video for the win.

Fun fact, while this collection uses the dreaded StarForce copy protection system, once the games are installed they do not require the disc to run.  Meaning you can remove the StarForce crap completely and still play the games with no restrictions.  ROLF.  They are just 1:1 PCE ports though.  Would have been nice if they had included other versions of the games for completeness sake.

Sadly Project EGG stopped doing box releases a few years ago as they simply didn't sell well enough, now everything is just digital downloads.  So yes, PC-98 Valis is now available, but download only.

Quote from: HailingTheThings on 02/01/2015, 09:06 PM^ Yes, also check out Tempo.

Also, I bought a new TV, a bigger Panasonic Tau in black, has all the cute things I needed, also has composite/S-Video in the front. Yay. Here is a shitty picture:

IMG

Also, it has really come to my attention that the picture projecting from my Duo-R is off to the left more than it should be on most every game I play. Some games it looks pretty bad. I think doujindance did something else wrong on the mod besides the s-video as it only does this when using the RGB. eff.
Nothing wrong with your mod.  RGB tends to favor one side of the screen for some reason.  When going RGB adjusting the monitor is quite normal.

And yes jeff, FF2 and Riding Hero are worthless over here.  You can find boxes full of FF2 in some stores.

As stated, it's a bit too late to get into the AES game for normal people.  Haven't bought a new cart in roughly 4 years or so...   I love the shooties.

Finally managed to get a complete copy of Cameltry.  Besides being an amazing port of the arcade game with some extra features, every copy included an unusual contraption which turns the mouse into an analog spinner.  Simple but works very well for this game, as well as other analog 2 axis games like Arkanoid 2 and Metal Orange EX.

Got in 2 NOS LS-30 sticks, and got them properly installed finally.  The RotoGun is complete and works wonderfully.

Zanac FDS and NES are very similar games.  There are some tiny differences though, enough that Compile included both roms on the Zanac X Zanac release for PS1.

Zanac EX i(MSX 2) s based on NES version, but graphics are much improved.  Though overall I still prefer the original MSX1 Zanac with it's mono-chrome sprites.  It plays better imo, sub-weapons don't have levels, just pick the one you want and kick ass.

I've gotten quite lazy with my pic taking, but this is one I've wanted for a loooooooong time :)

Quote from: Fidde_se on 11/13/2013, 11:51 AMHey I saw this in a magazine here, Swedish Level nr 87 like Oct issue 2013.

They have an article going to Super Potato in Akihabara, and they actually got to take it out and took a photo, it's the exact same ones as Tatsujin saw.

The article says:

Kid's Station - Complete Collection
Price : Unknown
- This is the complete collection of the edutainment-series Kid's Station for PC-Engine Super CD-ROM2, the games never got released in usual stores, it was only for students who used the Kumon study method that could buy the games in the beginning of the 90's, Therefore the games also became unusually rare. They have gotten a bid on 130.000kr (20.000$) - and refused.

End Of Article.

The games are complete but as you all might say might be missing a specialized controller, no mention of that..
I think your article might be a bit bullshit, cause the price was set quite some time ago....

The SC-55 is good for purists, but for me the whole point of MIDI is too make things sound as awesome as possible, hence the good old 55 just doesn't cut it.

Nando I use: Yamaha MU2000EX + PLG150-DR (GM and GS games) and a Roland CM-64 (LA games) as my main setup.  Also have a few odd devices like a Yamaha SY22 for the one game that supports it.  Still have all my old modules as well (CM-500, TG100, SC-55mkII, M1FR..) but they are more nostalgia pieces at this point.

The "take" from Octurbofest - thanks to Beemer for the x68000 midi board and the 8MB ram upgrade. The beast is complete!

Final Fight CD and Gauntlet IV also from Beemer, Bikkuriman World and Energy (ugh) from Windy Gaming.

Silent Scope 2 was a thrift pickup; only decent thing I've seen at my local Goodwill in over a year.
Welcome to the world of MIDI, now you too can spend an insane sum for professional level synth modules, mixers, amps, and speakers.  I think I've spent more on my custom MIDI setup then I have on the computer, almost double lol.

Couple of other random pickups - California Games is the blue label re-release, and Alex Kidd is the red label re-release (2 down, 4 to go on the re-releases). I picked up the copy of Sonic because I noticed it was a U.S. seller and had a faint sticker on the back. I can't tell 100% because of sticker damage but I think this is a U.S. copy of Sonic. Might have to head over to SegaAge to verify.

IMG
Trinity?  Dude you totally need Thunder Blade.  It's still the best port of the game.  And for best results, get yourself a Cyberstick analog controller.  All 4 of those games support it for maximum awesomeness.

Well, the cover art is nice, but it's probably a Pachinko simulator (with HR Giger-inspired high-score screens).
I assume you've heard of "Dead of the Brain," no?  Well anyways:
Nightmare Collection #1 = Dead of the Brain
#2 = Marine Philt
#3 = Dead of the Brain Part II

So yes, basically Dead of the Brain crossed with Aliens.  It's extremely gory with amazing pixel art.  And unlike DotB, this one actually has mouse controlled shooting scenes.  Sadly only released on FM Towns and PC-98.
