Quote from: Galad on 04/15/2018, 02:17 PMSince I don't know much about game maker what are you using for some of the ai?way points?
Depends. Some have coded random movement, others interact with invisible control objects on the map to change direction. I need to work on more enemy types so I might have an 'aggro range' set up for some in future.

Quote from: NecroPhile on 03/22/2018, 04:19 PMCool, man, though I'm not sure about being able to stand on the nests.  That looks weird.
I can lower the hit box on them so there's less air walking.

Bizarre.

In his recent emails to me he has been polite and totally coherent. His actions on the forum make me feel like there's some split personality thing going on here.

I've been asked if I'd be willing to do the page layout for this project. Although I'm on board with the concept, I just don't think there is anywhere near the demand that would allow a professional print run in the quantities required at a fair cost. Although Gibbs' fanzine is well known in a small circle of UK people (not me, I never owned it), it's clear that the vast majority of PCE fans have little or no attachment to it, so an update wouldn't really have the resonance it needs.

It would have to be really in demand before I become part of it, especially when I have a billion other projects, including more of my own PCE books if I can ever get around to them.

Quadrithiliot was a way for me to learn a bit of Gamemaker. I've not forgotten about it, but Grelox as a thing will take priority as it's been an idea for a lot longer....and making attack waves for a shooter is very, very tedious work.

I have more art for other levels and at least one cool looking boss. I think the weapon system would maybe better if it were a little more conventional so I need to rethink that. And some things depend if some art I have gets relocated for some other things that I cannot mention because I don't know if those things are things yet or might not be things later.

Oh, and those flowers at the bottom, and some of the enemies were originally drawn for the PCE Joust clone we were going to do years ago.

Cool. Thanks for posting those.

I wondered if they used my interview thing.

Quote from: Galad on 01/12/2018, 06:58 PMAny update on the progress?
I'm finishing off another game before I go deeper into this one. But I'll post when I do (or follow /sunteamretro on facebook).

If you're going to derail my updates thread, you could at least post some pictures of boobs.

It just didn't feel like Star Wars. It felt like a parody in places.

I'm super forgiving of Star Wars, as evidenced by the fact that I even love the prequels. I've never been so disappointed in a Star Wars movie. I really hope my mind will change over time because I like this the least out of any, by a long way. It was dumb, badly written and disrespectful.

This is Rian Johnson's approach to the writing process:

They need to put Rian Johnson in a rocket and launch that prick into the sun for what he did here.

Quote from: SuperPlay on 12/10/2017, 05:48 AMLooks like I need to do some more scanning for you ;-)

I am off soon for my Christmas break from work, so I will target to get the next batch done then.
I still have a few bits left to upload. I have a backlog as I was sorting out all the 30th Anniversary gubbins.
#17
High resolution scans added for Downtown Nekketsu Kōshinkyoku, Private Eye Dol, Quiz Avenue III, Startling Odyssey II, Super Real Mahjong P II.III Custom, Travellers and Vasteel 2. Thanks to SuperPlay.

It makes me appreciate all the great sound rips from PC Engine games for sure.

Quote from: exodus on 11/28/2017, 12:30 PMNice work! I might change that "computer read" stinger at the end of the computer sequence though, it's a bit grating!
Yeah it's just a temp. It's hard to find a good source of Master System sound effects to sample.

Here's some floaty orbs I added a few days ago.
All the main structure of the game is working now. Making maps is easy enough, but the main hurdle is coming up with more varied enemy types so that not everything is a patrolling, shooting thing.

Along with plans for an MSX version (slightly different gameplay and graphics), I've been tinkering with a Windows Grelox. I'm aiming for a sort of Master System feel and it is (obviously) inspired by the brilliant Zillion.

Here's the first bit of progress:

Rare did their best stuff on the Spectrum when they were Ultimate: Play The Game.

Jetpac on PCE? Hell yes please.

Quote from: guest on 10/30/2017, 04:14 PMHope that was just a joke about the next episode's script :(
You'll have to wait for the next one to find out.

Dragon Knight II wasn't a PCE Exclusive, it came out on a bunch of computers beforehand. I guess that might go for a few others on that list too.

Same for Xak I & II.

Quote from: NecroPhile on 10/30/2017, 11:24 AMThanks!  I'm not sure what this is, but I'm sure it'll be awesome.
It's hard to describe.

Make sure you find the secret...

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 10/29/2017, 12:17 PMI think there's a lot more to "handle" in SotN.
Of course. Purely from a graphics point of view I think you could get decent results although you'd be looking at some rather harsher contrast. Looking at sprite sheets, the colour count isn't greatly out of the PCE's reach. But it's a fun experiment.
#32
I didn't really fine tune it so I'm sure it could be even better with a bit more effort.
#33
I've been playing a bit of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night recently and wondered how the PC Engine would handle the graphics, so I did this quick test.

tinypic.com/fa0sas.png

Not too bad, it would suffer a lot from the reduced palette but I think it would certainly handle it well.

Quote from: nopepper on 10/26/2017, 02:38 PMReally liked that Neutopia remix. Thanks as always for your dedication.

Just curious; how did you create these remixes?
Recording segments of the music with only specific channels, then editing, filtering etc. Adding extra effects and percussion and sometimes splicing bits with new notes.

This week we unlock a free mini album of PCE chip music remixes.

You can listen to it here.

Disclaimer: This is my first attempt at making remixes and I'm usually pretty crap at any sort of music.

PC Engine Month continues!

Print & Play 'Bonk! Bonk!'

Use this PC Genjin Series set of Hanafuda cards to play the traditional classic game 'Koi-Koi'.

Designed with beginners in mind so it's a lot easier than the original because you don't have to remember a ton of stuff!

Quote from: exodus on 10/12/2017, 08:14 PMPaul, I've been listening to the 8 hours of pce tunes (which is great!), and I'm wondering where the heck this dragon slayer piece came from. https://youtu.be/lk0Iw8WkUXA?t=5h25m10s

It's PCM plus drums! I don't remember that happening in the game!
The game has multiple options for both village and battle music, you can either have PCM or CD tracks (which slow things down as the CD has to seek the track first). I usually have PCM as it sounds great.

I did have people ask for PDFs of Pixellence at the time but I've held off until now. After all, you only get one 30th birthday.

Don't. It's bloody terrible.

Everything Arkhan said.

I did an extensive screenshot comparison for PCE vs Arcade here: http://www.pcengine.co.uk/HTML_Comps/Comp_ChikiChikiBoys.htm

I think I used to use my 9v Spectrum power supply on my white PCE with no problems.

Thanks for translating these. This kind of stuff is awesome to read. It would be interesting to have translations of any RPC Genjin articles if you have any.

Ok, but what is the very first song (when "real" PCECP starts)?

It's Ai Cho Aniki
Ha! I missed it. Forgive my foolishness.

You are forgiven.
