I'm starting this thread as a way to find out myself what games were only released in the Good ole- U.S.of A.  ,obviosly there were several games that came out in Japan that never saw the light of day over here.... where there a few that Japan missed out on from the US?

Theres only two that I can think of off the top of my head:

Beyond Shadowgate (SCD)
Order of the Griffon (TurboChip)
Darkwing Duck (TurboChip)
Talespin (TurboChip)
Camp California (SCD)
Yo' Bro (TurboChip)
Ghost Manor (TurboChip)
Madden '850 BC (SCD)
Bonk 3 CD (SCD)

Any others?

did they actually release Camp California in Japan?
Jossshhhhh...Legendary TurboTrollX-16: He revenge-bans PCE Developers/Ys IV Localizers from PCE Facebook groups and destroyed 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Josh and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner (extortion/blackmail!), never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Did they have a reason to?

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Disney games were released in Japan.

Add these to your list:

Darkwing Duck
Talespin
Camp California
Yo' Bro
Ghost Manor
Madden '850 BC
Bonk 3 CD

That's all I can think of. There's probably a couple more.

Ya know, I'm pretty sure Cosmic Fantasy 2 was released in Japan being that there is a Japanese version of it and all.

It doesn't sound like the asian market missed out on much.  What the USA market missed out on however is staggering.

I always get Yo Bro and Camp California confused with one another.  I always think they're the same game, or at least they should be.  I doubt either will ever find its way into my esteemed collection of goodness.

Ditto.  But man, North American Turbo fans got the shaft. Sucky dot com.

if the list is complete, it would be nice to implement it in our database on pcedaisakusen, as a remarked of US release only :)

PCE Games countdown: 690/737 (47 to go or 93.6% clear)
PCE Shmups countdown: 111/111 (all clear!!)
Sega does what Nintendon't, but only NEC does better than both together!^^
<Senshi> Tat's i'm going to contact the people of Hard Off and open a store stateside..

Don't forget the Four-In-One Gate of Thunder; and if you want to get picky, then you could add the pack-in version of Ys (same game, different label).  How 'bout Meteor Blaster DX - Signature Edition?  The differences are pretty slight, so I don't know if that should be counted separately.

I always felt the same way.

I still think Yo' Bro looks like loads of crap, but since Chris Covell's in-depth webpage look at Camp California, I'm obsessed with obtaining a copy. The game looks awesome, and it's got some really nice looking graphics.

I'd count the 4-in-1 and MBDX-SE.

There is a pretty rare version of the 4-1 disk that shipped with the Turbo Duo Kiosk.

Why is the kiosk 4-1 rare? Does it have different games?
Quote from: MissaFX on 01/06/2008, 12:10 PMMy idea of gaming is a couple of friends over, a couple of drinks, a couple of medical-handrolled-game-enhancing-cigs and a glowing box you all worship.

The kiosk version had a different intro and label (not sure on the label part). The rest of it was the same.
It was only available in the Turbo Duo Kiosk, that I am aware of. Since the Turbo Duo wasn't very popular, I'm guessing they only made about 500-1000 kiosks.

There was a Turbo Duo kiosk here in Halifax. I just remember being overwhelmed the first day I saw the Turbo Duo.

Didn't one of Aaron's kick ass PCEnginefxTV episodes showcase the kiosk disc?  I recall seeing video (or screen shots) of the differences, but can't remember where.

Search the forums for "Camp California" posts by nodtveidt (old rover). He was the first person to really delve into CC, praise it, and provide a really in-depth analysis of what works (and doesn't work) as far as the game's mechanics are concerned. His sober, insightful thoughts really helped me appreciate a bunch of games that I had written-off (Exile 2, Camp California, and 1-2 others).

I'd say that runin, CrackTiger and nodtveidt have really helped me re-discover and appreciate a bunch of games.

To return the favor, I have unrelentingly praised China Warrior over the years. :)
