so, looking for just a few more things that have evaded me:

Shining Force 3 (US) - @$100
Silhouette Mirage (Saturn JP) - $40

hoping for them CIB + shipped, if they're a little rough but otherwise intact that's fine! I know you can sell them for more on ebay/etc but for what it's worth, i can guarantee you they'll have a happy home/be played and not resold!
Also looking for some Sega-CD pack-ins as well - thanks in advance here.

aw, so awesome to see this finally took off!  and it's probably a good thing orders are done for now, i've got to pay down holiday stuff & sort out how many i'd need, haha
#3
Merry christmas everybody!  gonna play some Die Hard tonight
#4
..the user, though the game is neat too

seriously, finally got my doujindace RGB/region modded Duo-R working like it should, and i couldn't be happier.  just wanted to say thanks for everything man, also just so you know you get mad love/praise over at GAF too, haha. totally gonna dump some more homebrew stuff that was recommended here onto my roommate's turbo everdrive & get back onto Rondo of Blood soon!
#5
amazing...thanks so much for that!
#6
awesome!  great suggestions so far guys, keep em comin!
#7
while back, my roommmate got a Turbo Everdrive - any good homebrew/unfinished/etc stuff we should be loading up on this thing?

i'd always wanted to play that Fantasy Zone/Harrier hybrid one, but i think that's a disc game.

Quote from: MNKyDeth on 03/17/2015, 01:25 PMThe most I ever paid was when Phantasy Star 4 came out at the local Electronics Boutique for $90. I had that game day one.
You probably couldn't have picked a better game to drop 90 bucks on at the time.  PS IV was incredible!  Imagine being one of the poor fools who picked up some lame N64 game for 90 bucks when it came out?  Superman 64 anyone?
+1, i used a $100 EB gift certificate and barely had enough change to get the bus back home.  worse yet, it was my first genesis game with a cardboard box (and vajello art, ugh) and b&w manual!  still, one of my top 10 JRPG's to date, really can't complain looking back.

i will double what this man is offering

^same!  looks like i missed this one

yeah, ive been feeling that way for a bit now - others seem to have better experiences with their unit from what ive read.  really wish i'dve pushed to swap it out when the problems first arose, he was helpful with sending tools & such but it's just not yet a reliable unit.

i believe he said the capacitors were changed out (a modder buddy i think verified this a while back?) but the issue of music dropping, is that often related to them or something else?
#14
okay, an update to my doujindace RGB/region modded Duo-R woes:

1) a while back, we discovered it wouldn't read discs unless on a flat surface - anything slightly off and it gives the "please set disc" error or just keeps checking.  even with this, it can be temperamental on running them.
2) a few weeks ago i noticed effects (seen as soon as the system starts up) where the screen seems to jump a little bit, randomly too.  i moved the cable about & sometimes it goes away but again, seems random.  i'd ordered another RGB cable from retro_console_accessories but that one doesn't seem to work at all, in the process of exchanging it.
3) just tonight, when playing Rondo, i had audio going on during levels - just music, not sound effects (particularly a bummer for this masterpiece).

really thinking i should reach out to Keither Courage & get this thing looked at, just wanted to see if anyone else'd had similar issues...i know # 3 isn't uncommon, has anyone run into the first one though?  fuck, i love this thing but i still feel like doujin sent me a lemon.

ah, i should mention, my duo's region-free modded anyway!  ah well, guess ebay's the only option then.
#16
*phew* glad to see you posted this here as well, i was just gonna link to it if not!
not sure if it'd work, but maybe some of you guys here could do a community pool to buy in & draft out the games?  i did just that on another forum for a massive dreamcast lot & everyone came out with nearly double what we put in for, it's awesome if you can make it work.
#17
agreed, it's a form of art.  i intend to do a helpful youtube tutorial one day on this very subject!

Quote from: galam on 04/16/2014, 07:38 PMThen they would be perforated, Lanny Poffo.
thought this was known - they didn't do this because it'd take the joy out of a clean cut otherwise  :-"

damn, i'm really gonna kick myself one day for not going in on all of these.

hey all - i recently upgraded my SD card (for all the recent MSU1 stuff) to this right here
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073JYC4XM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_MqzTFbRR724YN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

and it's been a mess since then, even went back to the old SD, tried rolling back the firmware, still getting the same result.  any ideas? here's pics of it plus the one menu i could get at

Quote from: DragonmasterDan on 04/15/2014, 06:10 PMWhat was left out was non-optimal redbook audio. So you're not missing much with the WD release
ah, that's not so bad then...what about the other releases on there, did they see more cuts?

Why, why why!
i'm gonna let youse guys in on a secret: hangtabs were meant to be cut
the game belongs to me now, not a hanging shelf in Phar-Mor from '92.

Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: Duo Arcade Card!
04/16/2014, 03:05 AM
Hey all, just wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions for places to find a fair price on an arcade card for my Duo-R?  i was gonna wait till later but with prices going up all over, though i'd check here for resources...was thinking of trying arcade-gears but i'd want to put in a larger order after paying some bills first!  anyway, thanks for any suggestions offered.
#28
^as a rule i don't fuck with dudes who do VGA or whatever sealed ratings for games, really not my scene
#29
Wasn't aware of this line, but now i wanna track it down, thanks OP!  also that explains the high-res model of bonk i'd seen a while back, mystery solved.

Outrun is one of my all-time favorites, i really should get the JP AGES release since i hear the WD domestic one left stuff out...but on a related note, Chase HQ is awesome! totally glad Game Sack put me onto that one.
#31
The engine's a bit confusing at first (im still getting the hang of it) but it really looks like something that comes together on replays as the story opens up too...just make sure you have a memory cart!

still the meanest damn ending ive seen in a game though
#34
^agreed, reason # 32 that i didn't love Phantasy Star III, as an aside

wait, i forget if CF2 had them, it's been so long
#35
:lol:Hailing, i've been meaning to ask - what's going on in your sig there?
#36
damn, professorprofessorson was pretty thorough, i just wanna emphasize my unying love for Strider, Rolling Thunder 2, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, MUSHA, and Wonder Boy in Monster World.
#37
fantastic work here in the OP!  if my Duo-R ever starts to yellow out, would the process be about the same?
#38
awesome, count me in for one! gonna hit up Mzo & Bishopcruz soon to see if they wanna pool together & save on shipping.

Quote from: guest on 03/16/2014, 06:47 PMYes, but A Black Falcon hasn't commented yet. He did make this thread though...reviews of 145 N64 games.

haha that thread is insane!  thorough though.
still amazed he hasn't commented, must not have seen this thread yet - he takes heat over at sega-16 for his N64 love, heh.
ive got about 25 games for mine, there's maybe 5-10 more i'd dig but that's about it for me.

the PSX one was great, now i wanna track down Ghost in the Shell.  also with a friend breaking into YT video stuff & editing, i gotta say, Joe's experience really shines with the production quality of these (ever since quite early on), really well done overall.
#41
i just picked up Chase HQ a few weeks back for $30, between that & Elevator Action Returns i'm happy like a clam!  such an amazing arcade box, even before you get into all the awesome SHMUPs & fighters.
#42
man, i'm still buying games for my wii - just found Pandora's Tower new for $20 at a nearby gamestop, and Ultimate Shooting Collection is awesome as well, thought most of what i play there is Radirgy.
#43
just wanted to again thank sunteam paul for that link & the awesome collection i bought from it, as well as the bookmarks!  trying to spread the love on a few forums as well.
#44
some awesome books showed up this last week or so, just yesterday i got vol 1 of PC Engine Gamer & was really impressed with the quality - free bookmarks were awesome too!

*edit crap sorry for the massive pic

Quote from: bishopcruz on 03/17/2014, 05:21 PMThe discs I burned worked great on Irish Ninja's DUO-R once we got it working.
well, that's not true at all, is it?  why, i went to boot up my 3-in-1 and Grand Master Meio killed me good.  :P
#49
ah, is it?  i saw it run like booty and never played the SNES one...huh.
and yeah that venn diagram could get a lotta mileage in a lotta forums, haha.

while only the hucard part of my Duo-R was working, i was mostly messing with Bloody Wolf (and a new copy of R-Type, thanks Mzo!), now that the disc is working is Akumajo time!
