@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

I have a black PC Engine T-Shirt I will raffle if there is interest.
I bought it years back and wore it once quickly to try it on for size and it was too small for me, so it's basically new but sat in my draw for years.
There's no label with the size, the size I would guess is a medium. I usually wear a Large and the T-Shirt was a bit small for me.

If there's interest and I raffle it I would ask winner covers shipping.

The T-Shirt looks exactly like the one Happy Console Gamer wears in all his PC Engine videos

Anyone know what toy figure this is? I can't work it out.

There's no small writing/details on it to give any leads.

Off-Topic / Worst movies you've ever seen?
01/17/2017, 11:06 AM
Name some of the worst movie's you've ever seen?

Some of the worst movies I have ever seen are movies that move beyond just simply being bad movies, they are bad movies that attempt to be deep or meaningful or arty, but just fail and end up being obnoxious.

Revolver
This is the only film I have ever seen in the cinema where the audience have booed out loud throughout the film because it was so shit and thrown popcorn at the screen.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365686/

Secret Window
The culmination of the film is so pointlessly shit, it was painful.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363988/

25th Hour
Simply obnoxious and tedious.

The vast majority of my gaming these days is on PC, so I'm always looking for games to check out, can be classic retro PC games or modern. I currently can't do too modern as my graphics card can't do the cutting edge 2016/17 stuff.

What PC games do you love and recommend?

What PC games do you hate and recommend to avoid?

Also hardware discussion,

what graphics card?

What CPU overclocks best?

Best gaming mouse and keyboard?

etc..

I've been hearing a lot lately from Youtubers that Youtube has changed all the rules and search algorithms, plus has bugs with randomly unsubscribing people. Consequently some Youtube content creators are now looking to find an alternative and looks like vid.me could be a contender, haven't checked it out much yet, just was looking around it for the first time, saw GameSack are on there https://vid.me/GameSack.

I sense it's coming soon...lately I've seen the first small tremors of people now starting to get out and selling up, but buying in retro games in general seems now to be slowing down. For example recently I've seen on other forums some large collections come up for sale that would have sold quickly before but have had little interest. I predict there will be an avalanche coming as all the tens of thousands of collectors sitting on huge collections in their "man caves" all scramble to get out as they see their investments plummet in value.
#11
Something I find difficult to understand is this strange discrepancy in retro game popularity where over the last 3 years collecting physical games and consoles in retro games has gone up ten fold but discussion has almost disappeared, to me it just doesn't make any sense??
The 10 or so retro games forums I used to read 3 years back are now practically dead, look at Digi Press nobody is on there that used be so busy. My thoughts were that everyone had just migrated from forums to Facebooks groups (I hate retro game Facebook groups), but I had a look recently and they're not even that busy comparatively.
Plus also retro games Youtube videos seems to be completey drying up, there is fraction of the content being made these days compared to 3 years back.

So the current situation is everyone wants to hoard huge collections 10 times more than ever before, but nobody wants to discuss retro gaming, this is a shit time to be into retro games.

I'm having trouble sleeping, looked on my iPad and seen the thread is locked mega WTF?

Quotehttp://www.famitsu.com/news/201609/06114656.html

M2 is releasing a "rev.2016" version of Battle Garegga as part of their new "M2 ShotTriggers" initiative. There's not a lot of info beyond that--price, platforms, what these "revisions" entail, etc--but there's more info in the mag so we'll know something before long. (Dangun Feveron is part of their new ShotTriggers label and it's confirmed for PS4, so that's a safe bet.)
QuoteIt sounds like there will be a physical release too, according to Famitsu:http://www.famitsu.com/news/201609/08115053.html

I'm currently in Disney Land Paris for the first time and have to say it's actually really good.
Went on the "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror" and it scared the living shit out of me.
Originally we wanted to go to Disney Land Florida but couldn't afford it, it's very expensive to go there from the UK for a family of four.

Today is the 25th anniversary for the US Super Nintendo, wow I'm really getting old.
My personal first experiance with the system was the Super Famicom earlier in 1991.
In my opinion it's the greatest video games console of all time, the game library is insanely good.

What are your top 3 favourite video game characters of all time?

Hard one this, gonna think about my answer then post it, Landis (Randī) from Winds of Thunder will be one of them for sure.

Thread inspired by the below new Happy Console Gamer video.
He mentions he bought his first Tengai Makyō game back in the day at a con in England from the girl who wrote the Role Call fanzine. That's Rachel Ryan who posted here as pcenginesales (Link), and did the Ys IV translation for NightWolve.

I don't check eBay (or Yahoo.jp) much these days for games, but yesterday I went on eBay and had a surf about and saw Magical Chase Windows 95 version for sale!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/232022492770
this is crazy rare, that is literally the only one I have ever seen for sale.
I'm not encouraging anyone to buy it, that particular seller has a very shady history of selling high priced fake Neo Geo Aes games such as Metal Slug. Oh before someone says there's two on eBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/282108928742 that's alt accounts of the same one seller, selling one item, route7nakano and tokyotoyfactory are the same seller.

I wonder how the game plays, if there is any differences between Windows 95 and the PC Engine or TurboGrafx versions.

General Gaming / SEGA - 50 Years
07/13/2016, 12:48 PM
Just seen this was posted on another forum

QuoteThough Sega dates back to 1940, this year marks 50 years since it released Periscope which was its first arcade machine. Following that followed decades of Sega games of which many are fondly remembered by those who played them.

Sonic the Hedgehog
Outrun
Virtua Fighter
Panzer Dragoon
Golden Axe
Shinobi
Daytona
Crazy Taxi
Scud Racer
Sega Race TV
House of the Dead
Phantasy Star
Billy Hatcher
NiGHTS
Burning Rangers
After Burner
Ecco the Dolphin
Fighting Vipers
Jet Set Radio
Metropolis Street Racer
Seaman
Shenmue
Shining
Streets of Rage

All just some of the many franchises that fans have loved and that Sega mostly has lying dormant in their vaults. Whilst they still publish the occassional Yakuza, Sonic or Hatsune Miku game the company tends these days to avoid most its series and doesn't try to compile them into collections as much leaving many to history now.

What are your favourite Sega memories and which games/series do you think Sega should revisit?

General Gaming / EVO 2016
07/12/2016, 06:33 PM
Generally I find watching any kind of videos of other people playing video games boring as fuck, but the one genre I find actually entertaining to watch is fighting games, only when it's highly skilled players. (edit: and some videos of highly skilled speed run of games can be interesting to watch)
So I will be watching EVO this year http://evo.shoryuken.com, anyone else on here going to watch it?

Apparently some of it will be broadcast on ESPN2

Someone please make a "Hitler reacts video" about TurboGrafx/PC Engine collecting.
I would do it myself but I'm too lazy.

Bonus points for referencing in the video:

1. Magical Chase

2. NintendoAge

3. JO Crystals

4. Johnny Turbo

5. FEKA aka Nazis

6. Tobias PCE Works

7. VGA Grading

8. Low post count PCEFX forum members entering raffles

9. Collectards

If anyone doesn't know WTF I'm talking about it's where peeps take this video
and then add subtitles for something comical, search youtube for "Hitler reacts" and you'll find thousands of examples.
#33
You're voting for which is better for every console variation/expansion and game ever released in CD-Rom format for either the PC Engine/TurboGrafx or Mega Drive/Genesis.

Inspired by below new Happy Console Gamer video he just uploaded and because I like versus polls. :P
PS this is just for fun, try not to be a dick.

Looks like the NX might be a cartridge based console and there will be no optical drive, so no backwards compatibility with the Wii U physical games.
I'm fully aware there will be zero fucks given by alot of forum numbers.  :P :P

What happened to raffles on this forum? they've disappeared, a while back practically the whole trade section was full of them.

I only ask as I'm curious on peeps opinions. I've never entered a raffle as far as I can remember and I've never started a raffle, but I have given stuff away for free in the past to other forum members.

General Gaming / E3 2016 Thread
06/04/2016, 10:37 AM
E3 2016, what are you hoping to see announced? What are your predictions?

Personally I don't have much interest in playing modern consoles like the PS4 or XBone (or even PS3 or Xbox 360) but for some reason each year I always enjoy and get caught up in all the hype and excitement of E3.

http://uk.ign.com/wikis/e3/E3_2016

I have two daughters who are 5 and 9 and they are Nintendo crazy. They have the New 3DS, 3DS, DS, Wii U and Wii consoles with tons of games, so through playing games with them I guess I'm kind of up to date with what's been going on with Nintendo. If I didn't have young kids I doubt I would of played these consoles/games. Other than Nintendo on the rare ocassion I play modern games it's on PC and iPad mostly.

General Gaming / VR Thread

This year looks like it will be the year of the arrival of VR with Oculus Rift, Sony Morpheus & HTC Vive all launching.
I'm still yet to try it myself, I will jump in at some point, I'm just waiting till all models above are released then I'll make a choice on which to go for.

Anyone here tried it yet? Anyone own a Oculus or Vive?

Happy Console Gamer just uploaded a new video where he shoots his load everywhere after trying VR for the first time

Years back I started a thread (link) which had scans from a Japaneses NEC booklet I had. Whilst I was scanning the images from the booklet for that thread I also scanned an NEC interview about the SuperGrafx. I recently stumbled upon these old scans and sent them to esteban for his site. Coincidentally recently there was a thread on the TurboGrafx section of this forum discussing the SuperGrafx history (link)and I asked SamIAm if he would be up for translating the old scanned artilcle, I have PM'd him the scans. Thanks SamIAm if you are ok to do the translation  :D

I rarely comment or get involved in political discussion on the internet, but I just had to comment on this. Outside the USA nobody gives a fuck or knows who Trump is and what it potentially means if he became US president and had his "finger on the button". Here in the UK I would say about 99% of the population had never heard of Trump prior to him running for US president, they still don't know anything about him other than he's some wealthy businessman. I think the same goes for the rest of the world outside the US, nobody cares.
But I'm the 1% who is aware of Trump outside the US, I've watched him on TV (downloaded) for nearly 10 years on The Apprentice. On TV he comes across like a complete and utter dick, but as trash tv the program it's entertaining to watch, but he's absolutely not someone you would want in charge of a nuclear armed country.
I think it should be mandatory for the rest of the planet to watch back The Apprentice and realise the gravity of the situation if this man is given the capability to start (world) wars and drop nukes.

Are you happy with your game collection?

Or do you feel the concept of collecting is lame?

Thread inspired by this YouTube video I just watched
I'll admit it I'm not happy with my collection.
A few years back I was, I had a very near complete mint NTSC-J PC Engine collection. I had over 700 PCE games with all the rarez, only had two rare games left to get which was Akiyama Jin  and Power League All Star Gold.

Super Famicom my other favorite console I had hundreds of mint games, I didn't want the full NTSC-J SFC set though as too much crap. Every game I had for it was decent, and I had the rarez for it too.

Then mega pressure from my wife as all my stuff was taking up too much room and I sold most of it.
After that I doubt I'll ever fully get back into collecting again unless there's a massive price crash and then I'll buy everything back.
