Side note, do any of you all need any kind of system?
I've ended up with several spares and I don't want them

I just use it to dump crap on collectards

alright guys, I suppose I should have specified.
these are all Japanese controllers, about a 60/40 mix of grey and white.
They're not in perfect shape, but they're in good cosmetic and working order.

for now, I was going to ask $20 a piece, shipped.
as to whether you want grey or white, it's first come first served.

Quote from: majors on 03/13/2018, 12:18 AMUS seems to be $20 easy all day for a SS pad. If you want to move them pads, 15-20 should be an easy sale. That being said, I've been trolling YAJ for SS pad lot buys...not been too successful but got a couple wins. Add proxy and shipping to auction wins, Bartre might be a better source since it's been tested and stateside.
love you majors!
but yeah, I was even able to sell my doofy model 1 saturn pads the other day for real money, it was weird.
I always remember those being considered beneath everyone else
#6
what do you guys think is a fair price?

So does anyone here need a few saturn controllers?

I'm sitting on close to 30, cleaned, tested, and whitened (they're not perfect, but good)
not even sure what to ask for these.

yeah, that's obvs rondo.
nicely done!

PD, you're not missing out.

Lethal League is fun and all, but it's really only good when you have people playing with you.
#10
Not impressive, but I finally ran across a copy of Winback 2 for the oXbox.
never played it, looking forward to seeing how bad it got.
#11
I've been playing Star Wars the Force Unleashed.
it's.... got its flaws.

it's fun enough, but there's 2 major problems and a 3rd not as major problem

1 - stunlocks. holy hell, some single enemies can stunlock you if you're near a wall and get 3+ free hits,
this gets even worse on levels like felucia, which have lots of smaller enemies.

2 - Bosses. this should have been the highlight of the game, but it mostly breaks down into "spam the attack that they don't 100% block and run away when they attack"  There's so many times where a cool encounter broke down into "use your force lightning and run away until it recharges" or "x,x,x,b...x,x,xb...x,x,x,b..."

3 - (the minor problem) platforming.  it's not a bigger deal because there's not a whole lot of places where you can really fall to your death, but the definition of impassable slope is pretty vague in this game, and more than once the platforms you move with the force just made me slide right off them.

It's worth noting that the shave your head and grow a goatee practice really works.

First time a friends sister saw me she apparently asked my friend "when did he get hot?"

Quote from: seieienbu on 02/11/2018, 06:36 PMThis thread inspired me to some degree.  I'm making a list of every game I play and beat so that next year I can post without trying to remember everything I'm played over a whole year.
That's not a bad idea.
I'm gonna start one on my google drive, so I can always update it.

Quote from: guest on 02/06/2018, 12:22 PMI like music but damn do I hate it in most bars that have shit acoustics and then you need to scream for the next 2 hours while trying to talk to someone.

WHAT?! WHAT?!
That's exactly why I avoid it.
I go out to hang out with the people I go with.
not to stand around awkwardly yelling at people

Quote from: turboswimbz on 02/06/2018, 12:26 PMOH the joys of living somewhere not in demand... $10 is a super cheap cover charge for a bar here in the summer. If you want a live music venue you better be prepared for more.
You must live in a college town.

My only real exposure to the title is spending about 45 minutes with it after unlocking it in Sands of Time.

Then I realized I was wasting my time and went back to playing an objectively superior game.

Quote from: GohanX on 02/03/2018, 09:17 PMYes, I'm crying since I get to buy physical games on sale for $20 instead of them sitting in the digital store for $60 forever.
I will absolutely back this up.
plenty of games get pretty much abandoned by publishers and never go on sale after a certain point.
plus, Sony/MS store sales blow for anything that isn't considered a "classic" or an indie game.

Basically, surprise the toys inside, joy it's outside.
Correct, Surprise has the toy in the chocolate.
Joy comes in a Two halves thing, where one half is the toy in its own container

partially correct.
they're for PS2s and Xboxes.
I've been doing more LAN type setups and I don't feel like buying multiple copies of a game just to have them take up space.

hey guys.

I find my self in need of a handful of IDE hard drives.
I need the full size 3.5" drives, but capacity isn't terribly important, as long as it's 50+GB

Quote from: jperryss on 12/31/2017, 08:28 AMIt's literally the SNES ROM on a Wii disc. Garbage.
Was it at least a budget title?  That's kinda...weird...

You could just buy Mario All Stars on wiiware afterall for what, like $6?
Nope.
Though the initial prints came with some small extras.
But then Nintendo collectards decided to do what they do and the game got stupid expensive.
So Nintendo rereleased it without the extras for the same price.
Did it hit the Nintendo selects?

Added 1 more to the list today.

Parasite Eve (PSX) - I loved almost everything about this game. My qualms can all pretty much break down to "well it was the late 90s" or are simply some funky difficulty spots where the game randomly got really hard (crab boss) or really easy (the museum).
I loved the battle system, story/setting, and the villain in particular.
Been trying to beat this game since like 2005, just kept getting distracted; did read the book that preceded it.

*IMPORTANT NOTE. DO NOT DISCARD*
Do not set your TV/Monitor too high up, it disturbs the comfort of playing.
Aligning the top line of the monitor just below normal sitting eye level is ideal.

regarding the seating situation-
IMO it depends on who's going to be in that space.
If it's a primarily one person spot, get a nice office chair that gives hella back support.
If you've got local gamer dork friends, then get a sectional or couch, whatever fits in the space.

And I definitely second Majors' 2 exit policy, especially during 5-player bomberman sessions.

cheapo NES games I've enjoyed:
Batman
Astyanax (think broke dick ninja gaiden)
Startropics
Monster Party

But honestly I'd even expand CrackTiger's statement to "if you don't already have a ton of NES stuff, just stick to an everdrive"
they're under $100, and these days that's what, 2-3 Megaman games?

Quote from: guest on 12/28/2017, 10:18 AMBloodborne has this weird draw for me despite how awful I am that makes me want to keep going back. I think I will but in slow strides.

Quote from: guest on 12/27/2017, 05:49 PM1. Well the end boss where you have to fight 3 different bosses in a row with no health at all. The second is the doctor and he suxx

4. BotW is more than just GTA Hyrule in that GTA is more limiting than BotW. OoT shows its age and as someone who has no nostalgia for it, it's a bit hard to grasp currently. I usually prefer 2D Zelda games. LttP being my favorite and LBW was a ton of fun, and the original is great.

6. I would use the short hand weapon? THe axe thing. No fucking clue, I may need to start over if I ever try again, I ran out of blood vials.
1 - which boss is giving you the most trouble and what weapons do you have?
Misery isn't too bad once you get the hang of dodging her quick shot attack. I recommend standing still and then jetpacking away after it gets close.
Doctor #1 - the double helix attack always threw me off, just gotta practice and learn where the holes are.
Doctor #2 - just keep as much distance between you two and you'll be fine.
Doctor #3 - Don't kill misery unless you have to. you can kill her summoned thingies for health.
also, after the 2nd form, you can talk to the purple mimiga twice and they'll all drop some health for you

4 - I'll admit I'm biased in that I hate botw. I found it almost as offputting as Skyward Sword, but I could at least tell that had some good ideas in it.  Also, I know Zelda titles are primarily adventure games, but with every item breaking like it does, that really deincentivizes combat, to the point that I'd rather run than fight, which doesn't seem heroic really...
also, why does every game need crafting? it just bugs me.

6 - I feel that.  but keep at it, ASCEND.
I liked the Kirkhammer (the sword with a sheathe that turned it into a hammer) and the Rifle Spear.
and don't forget, Bloodborne is kinda designed to be played more aggressively than DS

Quote from: guest on 12/27/2017, 02:43 PM1. Cave Story (Switch) - Stuck on the end boss. :(

4. The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (3DS) - Got caught up playing FFVII instead, I'll go back and finally beat this eventually. But in a year where a stellar open world Zelda game came out, this took a back seat.

6. Bloodborne (PS4) - I'm not sure I will ever beat it.
IMG

1 - which "end boss?" the real end boss or just the doctor? what weapons do you have?

4 - you passed up OoT for GTA Hyrule? I'm so disappointed tucc.
to be fair though, Majora is better.

6 - what weapon are you using? that dictates sooooooooo much of your playstyle.

There's a big presence of "Playing >>>> Collecting" here, so let's back up that talk.
What games did y'all beat this year?
What system?
What'd you think?

For me:
The Bouncer (PS2) - I will never understand the hate this game gets. I love it.
Cave Story (PC) - I totally get how this kinda started the indie game thing, wonderful game
Dark Souls (PC) - Loved it, but still prefer Demon's Souls, and I don't see how Dark Souls 2 was THAT bad.
Dead Rising (360) - I knew the gameplay was fun from when it was first released, and I loved the couple playthroughs I did, but holy cats a 100% playthrough is rough.
Deja Vu (PC) - fun enough, but I doubt I'll go back to it when there's stuff like shadowgate
Doom 2016 (PC) - "That was fucking metal as fuck dude"
Freedom Plantet (PC) - levels were great fun, i hated every boss battle
Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death (PC) - great god of war clone with a decent balance of humor v. action
Maximo (PS2) - almost an amazing game, just hindered by some cheap stuff like the ever increasing continue price and some BS enemy placement
Mega Man Legends 2 (PSX) - pretty much perfect, just some BS sections where you just get wrecked as soon as you get hit once
Postal 2 (PC) - just as cathartic as ever. pacifist playthrough was actually a good challenge, but took some fun away
Resident Evil 4 (Wii) - I really loved it until the island, then it got just a little too hard for my liking
Risk of Rain (Vita) - maybe this shouldn't go in here as I'm not sure what you'd call beating the game, but it's been a wonderful timekiller
Shadowgate (PC, macventure) - It's Deja Vu, but literally everything is done better
South Park Stick of Truth (PC) - Super mario RPG + South Park = fun RPG that's not much of a challenge, but the experience is worth it
Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy (PC) - I'm not sure it deserves all the praise it gets, but it was a fun EU romp
Zombie Army Trilogy (PC) - Really good time, makes me want to try the sniper elite games for more

worked for me.
