Quote from: guest on 04/16/2018, 10:46 PMThis is great, thanks for sharing. Any sources for post 1990 releases?
Computer Entertainer was published into 1990, but the issues have never been scanned.  There is always Usenet, of course.  The Google archive of the old newsgroups seems incomplete, though.

Obviously, because of the nature of my YouTube channel, release dates of old video games are of particular interest to me. A few years ago I got some help from a few folks here in trying to piece together the likely launch lineup for the TurboGrafx-16, but since then I have found a great resource for release information from back then, in the "Computer Entertainer" newsletter. Every month they had a list of games for each system, which included both the expected release month of games not out yet, and more importantly marked games that had shipped out to stores since the last newsletter.  So say in October you might see "Blazing Lazers" listed as expected to release, and then the following month it would be marked as having already shipped. So you can more or less narrow things down to the month that they came out. So with that in mind, here is a list of the TurboGrafx-16's releases for 1989.

Aug/Sept 1989 (Initial Launch)
Alien Crush
Dungeon Explorer
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones
The Legendary Axe
Victory Run

October 1989 (National Roll-Out?)
Blazing Lazers
China Warrior
Power Golf
Vigilante

November 1989
Dragon Spirit
Fantasy Zone
Galaga '90
R-Type
World Class Baseball

December 1989
Moto Roader
Side Arms Hyper Dyne
World Court Tennis

Off-Topic / Re: What happened to Nullity?
03/24/2018, 01:02 PM
I never felt like Nulltard's constant promotion of DildoPhile was an earnest attempt to poach members.  I just thought it was more of a tongue-in-cheek joke, albeit one that had grown extremely stale.  I can't really put it into words, but something just doesn't seem right with the guys who kind of make up the "core" DildoPhile crew.  Like I feel like they're never being quite straight with people.  I don't mean in any business dealings, but just rather in the way that they interact with everyone else socially.  Like somehow they're all in on some joke that the rest of us are the butt of.  I know that probably makes no sense, but I don't really know how to put it.

Hey guys,

I need a few games for an upcoming episode of my show, and figured I would ask here before turning to eBay.  Games need to be CIC (outer cardboard not needed) and in nice condition (but certainly not mint).

Looking for:
Dragon Spirit
World Court Tennis
Monster Lair

Thanks!

Quote from: Johnpv on 07/06/2017, 06:31 AMIt's like saying yeah my tires are only rated for 80 mph but until some one drives them at 160 and they blow that's what I'm going to do.

I don't understand posts like this.  If some one told you running a certain type of gasoline had a chance of ruining your engine would you do it just because no one else had that problem?  When there's a recall on your car do you not get it done because no one you know has had the problem?
Dude, in my 40 years on this earth, scientists have gone back and forth countless times on whether or not it's OK to eat eggs, eat butter, drink wine, etc. etc.  MTBE is OK; MTBE is not OK.  It's fine to spray DDT in people's faces, oh wait no it causes reproductive problems.  I get that in theory these devices are not optimized for the hardware on which they are running.  Comparing this to a car recall is ridiculous.  We're talking about video games.  Wake me up when peoples' systems actually start taking shits en masse and maybe I'll care.

The general population isn't going to mess around with a RetroPie.  Those are for hobbyists/enthusiasts.

I wouldn't mind taking a crack at "male narrator".  People tell me I'm pretty good at that.  I'll have to set my stuff up to record the VO for the next episode of my show, so I'll try to remember to do it then.

Just out of curiosity, how did you come up with the prices for those games?

Incase someone else would appreciate it more than me. But like i said, it's not a big deal. So i'll just open it :D
Record yourself doing it and post it on YouTube.  Ask the sealed collectards to mail you their tears.
#26
The thing is, I could trade you my CIC copy for this sealed one, but when it got to my house I would just open it.  I've had the pleasure of unsealing a couple of Turbo games in the last couple of years, and would love to do it again.

My point is, you should open that game.

I've started watching DS9 since they're showing it every night on TV here locally.  Gotta say, it ain't bad.
#29
A while back I found the remastered Season 1 DVD set of TOS at Target for less than $10 in the clearance bin.  Been watching a few episodes this weekend on my PVM, and I have to say that they look incredible.  They added in a bunch of special effects, and they look awesome without looking out of place.  I think this remastered version is also available for streaming on Amazon Prime.  I never really gave TOS too much of a chance because I got into Star Trek when TNG came out, but so far I m really enjoying these episodes.

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 03/03/2017, 07:50 PMNo, I wasn't. It seems quite dumb to me.
My mistake, then.  I can't imagine anyone thinking that the idea of playing Soldier Blade or Gate of Thunder in an Astro City cab doesn't sound like an awesome fucking idea.

Regardless, the shirt is no more?  :(

Did any of you gleebs take a pic of what they looked like?
Tell me more about Lambert?

Just curious.

Also, I know a lot of folks don't like the art style/aesthetics...but it isn't bad...it's just a different style that I (we?) are not familiar with.
Lambert is the same guy that runs (or ruined depending on who you ask) the original Turbografx group on Facebook.  He's rubbed a few people the wrong way which spawned Rockabilly's Turbografx Fans and Tats' Obey groups.  Both of those groups were frequented by members that were banned from Lambert's group. lol - mostly for speaking in another language (French, Japanese) mocking members playing Turbo in widescreen stretched LCD or laughing at Runyon.

More of his crazy T-shirt sales follies can be found around this point here-

Quote from: Flare65 on 02/27/2017, 09:05 AMQuestion though....  Are the youtubers that get the Switch for free part of the Nintendo program where they are giving up their 20% of their youtube income?  How does Nintendo determine who to give a system to?
No.  Any YouTuber can sign up with Nintendo if they want to be sent free stuff.  Obviously only YouTubers with a sizable audience are going to be chosen, however.

I'd love to visit the store someday.  DigitalPress were my first video game forums, and I used to go to their CGE shows when they held them here in NorCal.  Yes, the forums are awful now, but in 2004 they were the place to be.

I appreciate his comments about other YouTubers.  Between the Analogue NT Mini and the Switch, the amount of shilling going on on YT right now is annoying as hell.

So did we ever get an answer regarding the sister?  Is she available or what?  I mean, I'm way too old (and married) but there are younger guys around here who have a hunger that Snickers just isn't going to satisfy.

I'm pretty surprised that no one has jumped on this.  The picture quality difference between a standard SNES and the 1Chip revision is pretty dramatic.
