PC Engine newbie here checking in from France (although I'm from the UK).
Retro gamer following mainly Megadrive and Neo Geo, and after hearing so many good things about PCE, I bought a Duo R this week. 

Warning: lot's of newbie questions will follow.

Got it last night and very very happy. Came with a Super CD and a normal CD (gradius 2, rayxanber 2).

Any tips for a beginner for some essential budget titles I should start with? Not the biggest fan of RPGs. Platformers, shooters, beat em ups, etc are my cup of tea. Games like Splatterhouse too.

Gradius II and Rayxanber 2 are great, but challenging (as I'm sure you may know).

So, that's nice couple of games to have already.



I'm too lazy to say anything other than GOMOLA SPEED.

I played them all a little over the weekend. I love the music on Genpei Toumaden games 
I ended up completing Street Fighter II with my two-button pad.

At least you want be taken aback buy current rising prices on the obey front...everything will be CHEAP to you compared to N-G.

Agreed! I went the MVS way, and even there it is sky high! I have seen some expensive games on the PCE. I keep reading "Dracula X is the BEST game ever", so when I try to find one, I cry. ;)
